On my first visit, I came in to buy candy and ending up browsing. And during that initial visit, I appreciated how many items this store has to offer and how well it's laid out. The patrons and workers take care of this store. I don't know how long it's been open, but it doesn't have the "tired" feel of most discount stores. And it's neat. Things aren't all piled up on each other in any random area; each section is separate and where you would expect to find something it's usually there. I didn't initially think of Deals as a "dollar store" but there are a lot of things that are $1. If I had kids, I come here every other month or so, give them $10 and let them go crazy. And if I were just starting out and not sure of what I needed, I would come here to buy dinnerware, glasses, etc. The prices are comparable to (and in some cases lower than) Wal-Mart and Target, so why deal with the parking and long check out lines of a bigger store? I don't know if I would have ever gone into this store if I wasn't dealing with a "candy jones" but I'm glad I did. I've never seen the lines get unbearably long like they can do at other stores. This store is on the smaller side, but it is nicely organized and I always find a few neat things. It has a large selection of books (my fave), and even though the clothing section isn't huge, the prices are a little less than some other places and I've seen some really nice brands (Anthro, J Brand Jeans, Athleta), mixed in. The clothing is organized by size--hallelujah! (Don't get me started on the places that organize by color.) I've seen some quality furniture and housewares as well as a bunch of randomness that would probably appeal to somebody out there. 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes I have trouble understanding their sales. They usually have a cart of free baked goods for customers. One time they were giving away frozen hams with your purchase!

I support the mission, but I've compared prices in antique stores with the prices in that thrift store, and the antique stores have better prices. They would sell more if they lowered their prices to thrift store prices. They would make more money for their mission. I will no longer donate to this organization because I don't like what they do with their pricing.

I've gotten some chairs here, as well as some linens (which, yes, are new, but they're a good price and good quality!) Like every thrift/vintage shop, not every visit is going to be a hit, but the stock rotates frequently enough that it's always fun to stop by! They're also very honest-- I was thinking about some outdoor furniture which they pointed out to me wasn't in the best condition. I was able to pass on that and stick with the things that I still did, and continue to, love.

My entire dish was so salty, I drank 3 tall cups of water and was full halfway through my grits but I didn't want to take it home cos I know I wouldn't finish it when brought home. I hope they fix the level of salt otherwise, I love the consistency and texture - has some bite to the grits.
