The Music & Arts store stands like a temple to the fragile hopes of students and parents arming…read morethemselves for another year of rehearsals, scales, and the long march toward competence. Its aisles gleam with reeds, strings, and cases--objects that, in their mute silence, carry the weight of countless hours to come. I found what I needed: supplies and equipment, the small instruments of survival in the regimented symphony of school. The workers moved with efficiency, their knowledge sharp and their actions brisk, yet there was a certain absence in their demeanor, as though they operated behind a glass wall. Helpful, yes, but with a coolness that left no room for warmth--transaction without communion. In some ways, it felt fitting: music itself demands a distance, a discipline, before it can give back joy. Still, one longs for a flicker of shared enthusiasm, some recognition that buying a clarinet reed is also an investment in human persistence against the yawning void of silence. Efficiency will always get the job done; warmth, when it appears, makes it unforgettable. I wish you joy and ease in the school year ahead, and may your new supplies carry you toward moments of true resonance.

The used instruments sales are in very rough shape so we didn't purchase there. Very frustrating start to this relationship with this store. Hopefully the instructor is great but if he has no more slots then pointless.

I was especially impressed with their selection of ukuleles. Never have I seen so many in MD in one place! Definitely more than what Guitar center offers. They have an acoustic room in the back to try their acoustic/classical guitars. I had the chance to buy one of their used guitars at an amazing price. I appreciate the staff working with me on the price and even holding the instrument for a day when they could have easily sold it to next customer. Shows that they care about customer satisfaction more than just making a sale. I was able to spend a good amount of time trying out the instrument and they also helped tweak the intonation before I decided to take it home with me. The only few downsides I could see was some of the staff were not particularly knowledgeable about certain guitar models that they were selling, but much better than say Guitar Center. The humidification in the acoustic room basically only controlled by a residential type humidifier, so not very precise. Compared to other small guitar shops in the DMV, I don't think I would feel comfortable getting my guitar worked on here just based on the level of expertise I surmounted from the conversations I had. But a good place to buy gear nonetheless if you know what you are looking for. Parking is just a little challenging since it is in the middle of old town Gaithersburg. But in the past I have come on the weekends and there is some parking across the street at the museum.

There are many better options in the area such as Chuck Levins and Bill's Music that are more welcoming and frankly have a much larger selection of instruments. EDIT - Tony, you know exactly what you did. You thought you were being funny but ended up insulting a group of people that you may disagree with, but are still some of your customers or potential customers. I do not feel comfortable doing business with companies that do not treat all of their customers with the same level of respect. I respect your right to have your opinions, but we all have choices.

As a parent, finding a piano school that values your child's intellectual and psychological…read moredevelopment is crucial. The importance of music education in a child's life cannot be overstated, and finding a school that places emphasis on both musical and personal growth is essential. In this review, I'll be discussing my experience with the European Academy of Music and Arts (EAMA) that prioritizes these aspects of education. Firstly, the teachers at this school are exceptional. They have a deep understanding of child development and are dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential. They are patient, kind, and knowledgeable, making them ideal for working with young children. Their teaching methods are tailored to each student's individual needs, ensuring that they receive a personalized education that suits their learning style. Additionally, the school has a curriculum that focuses on developing the whole child. The teachers place an emphasis on not just musical education, but on developing critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and creativity. They teach students how to express themselves through music and encourage them to explore their creativity. One aspect of the school that I particularly appreciate is their use of positive reinforcement. Instead of focusing on mistakes, the teachers highlight the student's strengths, which helps to build their confidence and motivation. The school's philosophy is that every student has something to offer, and it's their job to help each student find and develop their unique strengths. The school also offers a variety of programs that cater to students of different ages and skill levels. Whether your child is a beginner or an advanced player, there's a program that will suit their needs. Additionally, the school provides international performance opportunities, which helps to build confidence and allows students to showcase their talents. In terms of facilities, the school is well-equipped with pianos and classrooms. The classrooms are bright and welcoming, and there's plenty of space for students to move around and express themselves. I have been a part of the European Academy of Music and Arts for almost 6 years now, and I can't thank Dr. Oster and Mr. Perez enough for the amazing opportunity they have provided me and my family. The school has enriched us in ways I never thought possible and has provided us with the ability to appreciate and understand music. Growing up, I received a practical education that lacked any true dedication to the arts. The American educational system has only gotten worse, and I'm grateful to have found EAMA to supplement my children's education. One of the most amazing part has been watching my younger children since they were 3 years old gravitate towards the piano while their older sister practiced, following her keystrokes and even correcting her at times. It's contagious, and I'm thrilled to see the passion forming. I am so grateful to have experts like Dr. Oster and Mr. Perez available to help me navigate through the different versions of good, bad, and great performances and to identify the right music pieces and performers to study. The school's curriculum is fantastic, and my children get very excited about receiving new pieces to study. They act like they had just received a book of magic spells to explore. Overall, I highly recommend the European Academy of Music and Arts to anyone looking to enrich themselves and their children with the beauty of music. The faculty and curriculum are top-notch, and the benefits are truly priceless. EAMA is a true diamond in the rough of music schools in the DC-MD-VA area.

The following is a review of my ticket purchase not the Olney' Theater. Hoping this serves as a warning to all. This review is ONLY about buying tickets!!! Somehow when purchasing tickets for a recent show, I ended up on a site GoTickets. Bought the tickets for 2 and only when I printed them did I see that I had paid $244 for tickets that the face value is $54/ea or $108 total . So I spent $136 more then priced!!! Talk about feeling like an idiot! So .... I have no problem with companies making money. But this is ridiculous!! BTW the performance was not sold out we were the only people in our section. So Buyer Beware. The theater is lovely.

Lots of laughs interspersed with emotional vulnerability. The show has been extended for two weeks, which should tell you all you need to know.
