I joined last year because even though 24 hour fitness was more affordable, the machines and building were just going down hill fast. The last straw was when I had a partially torn meniscus. I couldn't go up and down stairs but I still went to the gym for rehab and for upper body. Their elevator has been out of service for WEEKS. Essentially making it nearly impossible for me to workout if I needed to use the restroom or locker rooms at all. After this I looked through multiple gyms, pricing and their benefits and went with Anytime. I absolutely LOVE that I can go to any of the AF gyms. I've been to a few others and it's been great to hit the gym when I'm traveling or on vacation. Overall Pinole AF is clean, safe and I love that I never really have had to wait for a machine. Yes the gym is small, but it makes up for it by being one of the most hygienic places I've worked out in. Most of the time if someone is on a machine they never truly hog it and I'm able to get my workout done in the time I want. I'm grateful to have found AF Pinole!

Their boot camp today was for 3 hours and taught the basics of boxing. The trainers, Avery and Lance came around to each child and corrected them (gave them feedback on techniques) as well as encouraged them. This format makes the program great for beginners, as well as for more experienced students. The owner, Joe provided them with water, Cliff bars and apples. We'll definitely be back.

I've been deeply concerned about their customer service. Because of health issues I've had to extend my membership. They've been resistant or refused at times. Most recently, I injured myself running at Orange Theory and had the most difficult time suspending my membership. They seem uncaring and at times unresponsive to emails. I'm concerned that they don't actually care about including people with medical issues and only care about their corporate standards. If you come, I'd recommend a class pack to start and prepared to be very on top of paperwork and be prepared to provide doctors notes for extending memberships.

Personal story: I was definitely intimidated coming to my…read morefirst class of CORE. I knew before hand that they used weights and the workouts definitely looked intense to what I'm used to. Instead of giving into that intimidation I walked into the gym with a free mind, and was going to accept any workout that was thrown at me. My first day was amazing, I never knew that my little arms and my body could do half the movements that were listed for the day's workout. Let alone do movements with a weight heavier than I am. The Coaches here are wonderful! They are all friendly and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fitness, weight lifting techniques , and how to not injure yourself in the process. They are extremely patient and work with you and your body's capabilities. Like i said. . weights are used. But don't let that scare you. I was not too fond of heavy weights before either . But with my first CORE class, I picked up that heavy weight and actually performed a movement with it (Hang Clean) .. I Felt awesome (HEHE)! Especially because I have always doubted myself and how strong my body can be. The workout atmosphere here is amazing. Everyone around you is basically working towards the same goal. So everyone is either helping/cheering each other on to help you get through the workout. The age group varies from teens - seniors. Yes , seniors. I've seen some older men and women front squat weights heavier than I am. I had a NutriPro blender cup jammed shut for DAYS. All my baby's food was locked inside. I carried it up and down my neighborhood asking grown men to open it--nobody could. I went to Target, checked with Amazon, even filed a claim with the manufacturer. I literally gave up hope. Then on a random Monday afternoon, I thought: "Where can I find strong people?" So I googled local gyms and walked into Bar Athletics. Y'all... this kind, shredded man looked at it and opened it in two seconds flat. TWO. SECONDS. The floor is not all supervised by a manager, or supervisor. So you are by your own at the whim some gys/members to bully you. At times you find members who are supposed to be cared by the parent/legal guardian, but they are left by them selves, so members need to navigate safely such a situation. The designated manager never leaves her chair, never supervise the floor, and the center appears to be run just by the members, on your own honor. City Sport can definitely improve the management at the Richmond center, and upper management should intervene to take appropriate action. Yes, the front desk guys do there best, but cannot do much on such circumstances as it falls beyond their pay grade.

solid gym with everything you need and a surprisingly good recovery area…read more I've only had my membership for about a month, but so far Planet Fitness in Pinole has been a really good fit for me -- especially since it's the closest gym nearby. The equipment selection is solid. There are plenty of ellipticals, stair steppers, bikes, rowing machines, and other cardio equipment, so I've never really had to wait long to get on a machine. My favorite part is definitely the Black Card Spa area. Between the cryo bed, red light therapy, hydro massage, tanning booths, and massage chairs, it's honestly a nice way to recover after a workout. The staff has also been consistently kind and helpful every time I've gone in. The locker room and bathrooms are always clean and well stocked, and I appreciate the little details like the water bottle refill station, hydration options available for purchase, towel access, and lockers (they'll even provide a lock for a small fee if you forget yours). The only downside is that the Black Card lounge can occasionally have an unpleasant odor at times, which can take away from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Parking can also get a little hectic during busy hours since the gym shares a shopping center with other stores, but don't let that discourage you -- worst case, park farther out and get some extra steps in. Overall, a really convenient gym with good amenities, friendly staff, and everything I personally need to get in, get my workout done, and head out.
