Let's start with the financial department, which is nothing short of a disgrace. The individual in charge of this area was shockingly rude, cold, and utterly devoid of the professionalism expected in any service-oriented business. It's one thing to prioritize payment--it's quite another to treat paying customers as though they are nuisances. The blatant lack of courtesy I experienced was not only unacceptable but offensive. The first time I visited, I begrudgingly chalked up the dismissive treatment to the fact that it was an emergency visit. However, the second visit erased any doubts I had about the systemic issues at this office. This time, I came prepared with insurance, yet I was still made to feel as though I was asking for charity. I waited for an unconscionable 90 minutes past my appointment time without a single word of explanation. When I sought clarity, I was met with dismissiveness so cutting that I left the office without even being asked if I wanted to reschedule. There wasn't an apology, a shred of empathy, or even the most basic pleasantry of "Have a nice day." It was clear they didn't want my business--and after this, they certainly won't have it. And let me be frank: this office is NOT welcoming to Black clients. Every non-Black patient who walked in seemed surprised, if not visibly uncomfortable, by my presence. The message was loud and clear: I didn't belong there. Their treatment only confirmed my suspicion. The discomfort I felt was palpable, and no one--not the staff, not the other patrons--made any effort to ease it. This is a disgraceful way to run a business in 2024, and it should be called out for what it is: discrimination. To the receptionist team--if you can even call them that--your behavior was deplorable. One individual attempted to force a façade of politeness, but I've lived long enough to recognize insincerity when I see it. You cannot cover up disdain with half-hearted niceties. The only redeeming factor in my entire experience was the dentist who assisted me on my first visit. She was kind and professional. But let me be clear: no amount of kindness in the back office can compensate for outright hostility and mistreatment at the front. I am an educated, discerning professional, and I demand better. This establishment's behavior is unacceptable on every level, and they should be ashamed to operate with such blatant disregard for Black customers. The below information was sent directly to the dental office. This is regarding an outstanding bill from 2023, they also sent the bill to collections: I spoke with the insurance company, Aetna, they will be paying this claim in 7 to 10 business days (1/07/2025). Aetna, showed I had reached my capacity for that particular tooth. Had someone explained to them that this was my first time having a crown on that particular tooth, this would have been resolved. I personally did not deal with this as that is not my job, I was the patient and not the employee. Furthermore, I had to go to back to my regular dental office, in September 2023, to have the crown removed and a new crown put on. I had to pay an additional $800 for that work. My regular dentist asked me, 1st why didn't I just go to his office to have the work done in the first place and 2nd why am I not going back to the dental office that did the original crown? I explained to him as I did to you all (34th Street), my father had brain surgery and was still recovering and I didn't want to travel to far in case something happened. The reason I didn't and would never go back to your establishment is because I've never had such a horrible experience like I did with 34th Street Dental. From the crown work to the cleaning to the back and forth with regard to this claim. It was ridiculous! I don't know how you stay in business. At this point I have been with my dentist for 19 years. I always receive top notch work and quite a few of my friends and family and their friends and family go there as well. I say all this to say, this unpaid bill lays on your hands because no one bother to pick up the phone and explain to Aetna that it was a new crown. I was on the phone with Aetna less than 10 minutes, and they agreed, the bill should have been paid. You're welcome, I did someone's job there (34th Street). I had scheduled my 6th month follow up last summer for January. 6 months come around and I get a text that my appt was canceled because dentist is not available. I recently scheduled an appt for April 26th. What do I get today ? Another cancelation notice. Really? Time to look for another dentist. I understand cancelations cause things come up. One time...I get it. A second time? Over a month from now? I pulled my kids from this dentist because the older dentist didn't seem to have much patience for children. I made this weeks in advance with who was shown to be available for 9/17. They contact me the day before to let me know there will not be any orthodontist in the office until October 8th. I understand if they won't be available, but why are they listing them available in office if they won't be there for another month? And wait until the day before to let me know? I give 10 stars to Dr. Hummel. As for Dr. Brucci and Dr. Atassi I give -10 stars. My story begins 5 years ago. Broke college student with crap for insurance. I had an infection deep in the root of a molar. I wanted an extraction, Dr. Brucci convinced me to get a root canal at 5 times the cost of the extraction. I finally finished paying off that care credit account roughly a year ago. Thanks for that financial set back, Dr. Brucci! Fast forward 5 years, I'm eating spaghetti and the cap from that root canal popped off. I panic and call the office right away. Dr. Hummel squeezed me in, treated me with respect, and listened to my needs and concerns. We made a treatment plan together. Turns out, that deep root infection was back with a vengeance and that's why the cap came off so easily. Had Dr. Brucci pulled it when I wanted him to I could have saved a few thousand bucks, but here I am, hating that man. Dr. Hummel extracted the tooth. Made sure I wasn't in any pain, and had excellent patient/doc "bedside" manner. Ok so here's where I admit my faults because no one is perfect and I can't point my wrong doings on others. My dumb ass when home and had a cigarette. Guess who dry socketed....if you guessed me when you'd be correct! I come back but unfortunately it's Dr. Hummel's day off. I see Dr. Atassi. Worst. Dentist. Ever. If you ever feel the need to be tortured, this is your man! He lied to me and told me "open up, I'm just going to take a look" and then start scraping away with a pointy thing and when I start wincing in pain, making my hands into fists, and tears start flowing from my eyes as I scream ...tell me to sit still and stop pulling away. That's when I cried out "Get out of my mouth! I need a break! You don't need to punish me with torture!" His reply? "Well you shouldn't have smoked" So you tortured me on purpose as punishment?! read more

My family and i have been going there for years everything was fine until my 4 year old had an appointment to remove two cavities doctor William Zizic started working on him, my son started to cry he kept on removing the cavities finally he put a paste to cover it got up and left before that, he told his assistant to tell me to take him to a specialist because he couldn't finish the job. I thought he had something really bad I asked the nurse why I had to take him she proceeded to tell me that the specialist is going to numb the area. I wish I knew this before! So basically my child went thru all that for nothing very unprofessional my son was crying he felt pain but he wasn't moving or doing anything else that could of intervene with his job. Being someone who has always dreaded going to the dentist since I was a small youth, it became very important for me to feel comfortable about not only every procedure occurring in and around my mouth but I also needed that sense of reassurance that everything would go nice and smoothly and pain free! The receptionists at the front desk greet you with a smile and are very easy and friendly to talk to. In addition there is a TV set up in the waiting room with magazines to read so you have something to do in case your smartphone dies or you can't get any WI-FI service. But you don't have to worry about waiting long because the dentist will usually call you in within 15 minutes or less, depending on how many people are ahead of you or not. Adding to the calming atmosphere the exterior of the building looks like a regular home. If not for the big 34th Street Dental Care sign posted out front, you would not think this place was a dentist's office. The reason why I say this is so important is because it gives you that sense of being in the comfort of your own home. When you first walk in you don't feel like you're walking into a dental clinic, but rather you just get the impression like you're walking through the front door of your house, and I think that helps to calm your nerves and fears quite a bit. As for the dentists and dental hygienists who work on your teeth, they also do everything in their ability to make you feel calm and relaxed. They are more than welcome to answering any questions you may have before, during, or after the procedure, and will explain what each piece of equipment does if you ask. They don't treat you as just any other patient, but more like a friend, and are open to talking about a variety of topics, not just teeth. You also have the added benefit of having a TV to watch in there as well. At the end of your visit, they supply you with a goodie bag of floss, toothbrush, and toothpaste. However, the dentist kept encouraging to be his patient after the fact that he found out I had very good insurance. Because I was relieved of the pain and needed my teeth fixed, I gave him a chance. As some of the work was done, or I should say, when the insurance ended I was rushed out of the chair and was told, I'll see you next year....
