I've visited some barbers in the past who didn't listen to what I asked for, gave me a bad haircut, and had the audacity to tell me that it looked good. It's been some months since I've been here, but I really wanted to write a quick review to let others know that they can trust Audrey's. Very warm and welcoming service at this salon. My stylist was very patient with me when I told her that I didn't quite know what to do with my hair. I prefer to talk to my barbers, so I was glad that she made conversation with me during the half hour that she worked on my hair. I asked for a shave as well, but I learned that since they aren't technically a barbershop, they're not allowed to do shaves with razors. Not a problem at all. If I lived in Gainesville, I would come to Audrey's for my haircuts. I was very satisfied with the results and left a nice tip, which I always do for good barbers and stylists. I don't go to them currently for cuts and color, but I have nothing against them save the few things I mention below. The Seagle Building location is simply splendid and the salon is lovely and it's pretty posh for Gainesville. Two incidents however with Tecnicolors stay in my mind, and they weren't horrible but still were kinda funny and slightly disturbing: First, one stylist I got when my long-time fave Rose left the salon (and town) was from Bulgaria. She was truly a sweetheart but ummmm . . . her English was badly lacking. Seriously. It was between her grasp of English and mine of Russian and some help from another stylist that we got through my haircut. This lady could, however, most certainly cut hair: problem was just communicating HOW I wanted mine cut for her to do her job. Second incident: with another stylist, I asked if I could get her to color my hair cobalt blue . . . see, I figured if I was going to do crazy color, I had best at least get a pro to do it and where better than at a salon called Tecnicolors? A friend who is a stylist in another city also suggested that I go to an Aveda salon (which Tecnicolors is) for such a wild color job because Aveda makes colorants that would do the trick perfectly. When I asked her about this, she said that yes, Aveda made the colorants to do what I wanted, but she couldn't do it at Tecnicolors because if some of that blue color got in their pale wooden floors it would dye them and wouldn't come out. Seriously? I mean they do red don't they and that also would have the capacity to ruin the floor, no? In any case, she suggested I talk to a stylist she knew at The Strand salon and see if that person would do it . . . The Strand is also an Aveda salon. So . . . my opinion of Tecnicolors as someone who has been a now-and-then client on and off for over 15 years? They know their stuff, they have a good salon going, and they probably can do what you request (except maybe blue hair!) so give them a shot. The two stories above notwithstanding, 90% of the time I've gone there for cut or color, they've done a stellar job.

I booked a consultation with Noah, and they were super sweet! We talked briefly about what I wanted for my hair, which included a slight trim and bangs! After booking an appointment a few days after, I arrived and got my hair done. I felt extremely comfortable in the environment, and I loved how roomy and clean the salon was. We had a consult prior to this and she agreed we can make that happen. 3hours in and I was on the verge of tears. My hair is not even close to red it's light brown with hints of copper. (Photos provided below). Keep in mind I have blond highlights in my hair- the highlights aren't even red? How can you mess up going from blond to red?! At $85 an hour, it was an absolute rip-off. I am completely disappointed and this is happening only 2 weeks away from my birthday, I am so embarrassed. I explained to her this color is nothing near what I asked for, she removed 1h from the charge because she knew she had messed up but that will not fix my hair. I had high hopes for this place. She's the best. Now that we've moved to the "Natures Coast", I make special trips up to see the best hairdresser I've ever had. She listens to what I think I want and I always leave happy. She once saved me from drastically cutting off 22" when I was upset! She gave me a great cut, listened to me whine and cry, took off only 6", and gave me a style that I loved. Robyn is the best at what she does and is very accomodating to work with your needs and schedule, going in early and staying late if needed. She goes out of her way to please her clients and makes each one of us feel special.
