The guys who installed the carpet, were a father and his son. His son stayed around for 2 hours, then left. I had a discussion with the father about installation, and one time he looked at me and said: "I hate this carpet!" I don't know what sparked him to say that, but it was in a voice as if he was ten years old. He finished the installation and I tipped him $15 (although I shouldn't have). The next day or so, I looked at the carpet and noticed a gap, so I called New Horizon and let them know. The person who answered the phone seemed surprised and said he would take care of it. He sent the same person back, who was angry. I showed him the gap, and he hit the carpet several times and emphatically told me: "That's the way it's supposed to be!" Then, as he was leaving, he looked at me and said in his immature angry voice: "I HATE this carpet!" I was glad to see him leave, and never wanted to see this guy again. Because the man at New Horizon sent that same immature guy back who threatened me and did a lousy job, made me distrust the company. He should have sent a manager back. He should have sent someone who was responsible and cared about the customer to fix the job. But he did not. He was complacent.

A+++ We needed a…read morecable repair. A tension cable was rubbing against its bracket and slowly filed it down without notice over years of opening and closing the garage. The tension from the spring ripped off the part of the bracket it was attached to causing the door to jam, not able to open or close. Fernando came by the same day when he said he would - within a couple of hours. He swapped out the bracket, lubed all the bearings on the tracks, re-tuned the tension spring above the door and lubed it, pretty much flushing it out after years of not being checked up on. He said he took his time to make sure the job was done right, which was evident to me as he walked me through the repairs, but to me, it was completed pretty quickly. Fernando also advised us on signs that would indicate a need for servicing, like a creaking, clicking tension spring; wheel bearings fumbling on the track; the opener motor laboring too hard to move the door. He also advised us on products we could purchase at the hardware store to maintain the life of our door components. When we initially spoke over the phone, Fernando gave me a fair, rough estimate of what I might expect depending on the extent of the repairs. Though he said it was a tougher job, he charged us what he quoted to me - a good value for a professional service. Beyond his professionalism and efficiency, Fernando is a friendly and helpful technician. We will definitely be calling on him for our garage door needs as well as recommending his services to our community.

Our friend Pablo says that J&W Lumber is the way Home Depot and Lowe's used to be. It's a real lumber yard. After meeting with Adam and several other contractors, I decided to go with Patio Guy not only…read morebecause of his five-star rating, but several other factors that were important to me (and probably you as well): 1) He could deliver and install my new cover within a week vs. the other guys taking months; 2) I wasn't limited to just the AlumaWood product (which wasn't modern enough for me), and (3) his price to install with an upgraded cover (insulated) was far below his competitors constrained by higher overhead and slower delivery times. I ended up selecting a Duralum cover that his company also offers, and I'm glad I did. It's just the look I was going for. I was also impressed with Adam's business model, which is built on quality and efficiency at a very reasonable price without cutting corners or sacrificing customer service. Now for the best part: A guy named Brody, his lead installer. In addition to being a super nice guy, his work is meticulous. The back of my home isn't linear, so there are bump-outs and protrusions, making the installation more difficult and time consuming. This wasn't the slightest challenge for Brody and his team. The finished product is snuggled tightly against my stucco and professionally sealed on the roof to prevent any water dripping through when it rains. I watched him work, measuring and cutting the aluminum to match my home so the fit and finish is far greater than I imagined. As you can tell from the photos, I still have work to do (concrete coating, fence repairs, etc.) to match the beauty of my new cover.
