Josh started the work but after half a day, he assigned one of his workers to do basically the whole shower tile install. The employee Josh handed our job off to was not a competent/skilled tile installer. Nearly every piece of tile was put in crooked, so that when the overhead light is on, you can see dogears of shadows highlighting every tile that was installed poorly: corners are lifted or sunken at different points throughout the shower. The top edge of the shower walls is crooked and lumpy looking. I realize it takes skill to lay tile so it is flush and even. However, this was not a complex job (12x12 precut tile, mosaic tile with backing, precut bullnose) and because Josh relinquished our job to an unskilled employee, we have a shower that looks like a poorly done DIY job. Honestly, I feel if I had done it myself, it would have come out looking as it does -- and I never laid tile -- which was why I hired a 'professional' to get professional finished results. The shower tile job that looks like should have been a couple hundred dollars instead of the $2100 we paid him to do it. Josh came recommended by a local tile distributor. That's who I hired. That's whose bid I accepted. No one referred Josh's junior employees. I feel like it was 'bait and switch' -- we sought someone who came recommended and vetted the work thru past references and then once he started the work, he switched us out to an unskilled employee. The work was not to our satisfaction. The worker also installed a grab bar and failed to attach it to a 2x4 on one side -- so it will likely rip out of the wall the first time someone actually has to use it. Will not use again. Tile is too expensive to have poorly installed and look at it every day.
