I had the pleasure of finding my dorm carpet and the University of South Carolina, and Connor was the most patient, kind, and respectful salesperson and worker I've come to meet in South Carolina. He was fascinatingly patient in me taking my time, listened to our concerns are were willing to work a deal, and was overall a JOY to work with while providing AMAZING value. I was impressed with Trevon and his team of installers yesterday, and I appreciated how well they work together as a team. They were all very efficient, and I noticed that everyone really pulled their own weight and worked hard (which you don't always see with installation teams). In addition, they were friendly and patient with me as a homeowner going through my first carpet installation experience. I could see Trevon's 20 years of experience working at Carpet One really shining through with the way he manages his team and handles clients. I'm grateful for Robert, too, coming to my house to measure the day after I visited the store, getting me the estimate that afternoon after the measuring, and keeping things moving. He sensed that I was ready to move on this project and simplified practical choices for me and my needs (budget, time frame, cat owner, etc.), which helped a lot. He was always sensitive to the price point I needed, and I never felt he was trying to talk me into spending more money than makes sense for my house's value. Very disappointed, we had installed carpet and vinyl we had problems with the carpet it "had a defect in it" and got new carpet now we have a even bigger problem with the vinyl it has a bubble in it and it runs from one wall to another wall. We are never coming back here again! read more

We needed carpet replaced. So I googled and carpet one came up. I called and spoke with Ben. He came out the next day to measure the areas we needed replace. Which was 3 rooms and a hall. He was very professional. Very helpful. And very nice. We went out to select our carpet the day after. And we found one of many that we liked. At a Decent price. We chose only one style. Hard choice. Everything was so nice looking. The men who installed the carpet. Were so professional. Very respectful. And just as sweet as they could be. We recommend this place. If you need carpet. They had poor communication and broke an antique lamp of mine and received no apology. Carpets were installed fine. Lots of damage to my walls and baseboards. Don't recommend. They walked off the job and had to argue with them to come back and finish. Paid them extra to move furniture only to have them refuse to do it by the last room. Hire at your own risk. read more

Mike Tronco is my go-to guy in Columbia for flooring. Great selection of carpets and new innovations, such as LVT with beveled edges. LVT=luxury vinyl tile. Yeah, you might think that's an oxymoron, but it isn't. I'm about to design a new house using this well-priced easy-to-maintain product. Mike is old school. Very service oriented. I can't in good conscience recommend this company to anyone. The selection of flooring is very limited and I ended up buying flooring I wasn't crazy about. The installation was TERRIBLE. They tore up my baseboards with a crowbar right after I had them painted, and they left gaps in the floor. I'm not pleased with this company. read more

Do NOT use Carpet One for any of your flooring needs. While they present a professional-looking image at first (i.e. nice website, multiple locations, been in business for a while), they are anything but professional. Here is my story, you make the judgement. First off, let me tell you that I am a homeowner in Columbia, SC, but due to my active duty service commitment in the military, I get transferred around the country every 3 years. I have tenants in my SC home who have been honest, trustworthy, and overall great caretakers of my home for the last 7 years, so when they asked me to replace the carpet in a room of the house, I was happy to. They proceeded to contact Carpet One, who came in October 2015 to take out old carpeting and install new carpeting in a 279sf room of my house. After the carpet installation was complete, my tenants informed me that the workers who showed up were very unprofessional; First, during portions of the installation, they were blaring rap music out of their van, which earned complaints from the neighbors. Then, when they were finished with the job, they left lots of refuse and carpet scraps / debris in the driveway (tenant sent me pictures). Shouldn't part of the job be full cleanup afterwards? In any case, a final consequence of this whole thing was that both my tenant's vehicles ended up getting over 8 screws / nails stuck in their tires, which had to be replaced at a cost of $950 to them. When I tried to address this with the owner of the company, he refused to take any responsibility AT ALL for this damage. He said that the screws in the pictures of their tires are not even screws that they use, so there is NO WAY they could have caused the damage. I posed the question that isn't it possible the screws were from the OLD carpeting that was taken out and dragged across my driveway when being removed by the workers? There is no way anyone can prove where the screws came from; tenants can't prove it was Carpet One, and Carpet One can't prove it wasn't their own fault. But, how could it be coincidence that all these screws ended up in the tenant's tires on the very day of the carpet installation? So, in an effort to make things right and all parties share in the responsibility of this bad situation, I proposed to the owner of Carpet One that they agree to taking only half the price of their bill and that I send the other half to the tenants to help them re-coup at least part of what they spent on new tires. The owner was not willing to accept any responsibility or try to make right a bad situation that, based on circumstantial evidence, shows Carpet one was at least partially to blame. The owner of Carpet One can argue all day that it was not their fault, but if there is the possibility that Carpet One workers caused the damage due to negligent cleanup of screws left from the torn out carpeting, shouldn't they at least try to share in the responsibility? I, who was handling this from half-way around the world, felt compassion for my tenants, so in the interest of making things right, I told Carpet One that I will pay their full carpet installation bill. Additionally, I sent money to my tenants to help them with their tires, even though that was definitely not my responsibility...but someone should do the right thing. CARPET ONE will NOT do the right thing. Their unprofessional actions at the worksite as well as how they handled the situation afterwards proves that they are not a trustworthy or professional company.
