I'm in much better shape, more athletic, and I genuinely love the practice. The environment is motivating and supportive, and it pushes you to become a better version of yourself. I would 100% recommend it to anyone thinking about starting!

From the moment we walked in, the instructor and senior students made us feel like part of the family. The classes focus on traditional Taekwondo with a strong emphasis on discipline, respect, focus, and self-confidence--values that have really carried over into their everyday lives. Both boys look forward to every session. The training is challenging but age-appropriate, fun, and progressive--they love learning new forms, kicks, and sparring techniques while building strength and coordination. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and excellent at motivating the kids without ever being overly harsh. They've celebrated each belt promotion like a major achievement, which has boosted the boys' self-esteem tremendously. The dojo is clean, well-organized, and has a positive, supportive atmosphere. It's clear the school is committed to teaching not just martial arts, but life skills that help kids grow into confident, respectful young people. If you're in the Cramerton/Gastonia/Belmont area and looking for a quality Taekwondo program for your children (or even yourself!), Lee's Taekwondo is absolutely worth checking out. We've seen real growth in our sons' discipline, physical fitness, and attitude--it's been one of the best decisions we've made for them. Thank you to the entire team for making martial arts so enjoyable and rewarding! Highly recommend--5 stars all the way!

Sadly as she gets older, it becomes more apparent to other peers that she is different and is often treated as such. She strives so hard to be a part of a team and participate with peers but often can not achieve the same pace, especially in organized sports. When we joined CMAA, she immediately took to it. It is a team environment but she is free to move at her own pace. Everyone is at a different level of their journey so there is no ahead or behind. Everyone from instructors to staff to students have been more than welcoming and not one time has she ever been made to feel she is different. She takes great pride in her accomplishments and is so proud to achieve each next step. She has made major strides in all forms of life while studying at CMAA, everything from physical improvements of balance and control to mental improvements of discipline, control, and socialization. She takes pride in the many things she learns about respect and discipline and uses these in everyday life. I cannot say enough about how great this has been for her and her development. It is teaching her skills to not only defend herself but more importantly how to succeed in her life. It is a great environment for any kid of any age to start. You will see the difference it makes right away.

The cost is $200 a month and there is no lower cost option. My son came for karate once a week which means we were paying $50 for each 30 minute session. That's just too much. No value there. So we ended up walking away :(

We…read moreimmediately knew we found the right martial arts program, and we're so grateful to Mr. Esposito and the amazing team of instructors who are devoted to instilling discipline, confidence, respect, perseverance and some pretty amazing skills in all their students. And I have to give a special shout out to Miss Michelle, who makes everyone feel like a special part of the ATA family. The instructors maintain high standards of discipline, commitment and effort (while also making it fun!), and it definitely shows in the amazing progress our son has made since joining. We highly recommend ATA Steele Creek!

This is not for 3 and 4 year olds…read more Negatives first: My son went through the evaluation with the owner and was permitted to join the ATA at 3.5 year old. We were flattered. But Tiny Tigers is not for a typical 3 or 4 year old. The rules are too strict. For easily distracted students, expect tears and hurt feelings from harsh discipline methods. The student to teacher ratio is not sufficient for that age group. The 6 pm classes are very full, which is where the student to teacher ratio becomes a problem. The students are not allowed to use the restroom without permission from the teacher, but (with so many kids) the teachers are not always able to see/hear them in time. Potty accidents are frequent in that age group. For Tiny Tigers, do not expect them to learn much about actual Tae Kwon Do theory or philosophy. They will go through some martial art like motions and learn to say "Yes, Sir" which is nice. I thought that was acceptable, but since leaving ATA, we've had the chance to look at other studios (Tiger Kim's and Steele Creek Martial Arts for example) and saw how much more students actually learn even at that young age. Smaller class sizes and, therefore, individual attention certainly helps and those places are not much more expensive. However, if you are fine with just a physical work out for your little one, then this place is fine. Signing a 6 months or a year contract at this young age is unreasonable. You should be able to discontinue with a 30 day notice. My son did not want to go there anymore after a couple months and neither did I but we were stuck due to a contract. Leaving on a positive note: I did really like Junior instructors especially Mr. Wallace. Five months after discontinuing from ATA my 4 year old still speaks about him with fondness. I hope he opens his own studio. It's also a great idea that the kids get to bring in their art projects and homework for little stars and recognition. It's a good work out for your little one.
