The botanical gardens are just a small part of what makes up the entirety of Singleton Park…read more Singleton Park is an excellent park. It cascades down the hill from Sketty down to Oystermouth Road (basically the sea). It's large, sprawling and esoteric. There's a small stonehenge-y bit near the top by Uplands, there's the botanical gardens which are detailed and intricate, there's massive expanses of pure green grass looking over Swansea Bay, and towards the bottom there is the play area complete with lake, pedal boats and pubs. There are more features that roll along the vast swathes of greenery that I'll leave you to discover yourself. This park has everything really, and bags of personality. Big events are staged here in the summer too - I saw Motorhead here when I was 15, but they also host big dance music events which get very messy (in the way that people who enjoy dance music like). A beautiful place full of surprises. Take a stroll and see which side of Singleton Park you like best.

Yes, a nice place to visit, right next to Swansea University. A very pleasant park and gardens to…read morewalk in and the botanical glass houses are interesting to wander through. I liked seeing the coffee plants best - I drink coffee every day but never knew what the plant looked like! I sometimes go there just to take photos, especially of the tame squirrels - they will take food from your hand if you are patient. Once or twice I've seen robins and chaffinches taking food held out on someone's palm too.

The old Swansea Leisure Centure used to be Wales' most popular tourist attraction, getting way more…read morevisitors than even Snowdon or my school plays. They closed it down for a few years to buff it up and have reopened it as a 21st century waterpark. It certainly looks very modern, the gym which comes out of the front of the building is like a space gym and has incredible views over the marina. The 'waterpark' is not a huge leap from the pools and slides that were there before, they've clearly worked around the main structure - keeping features like the wave pool and the huge windowed walls which make it almost feel like you're swimming outside in warm sunshine. New additions include the 'river run' which is basically a doughnut of water with a strong current which whips you around it and three new slides. Two of the slides are quite boring and similar to the old ones. There is one new one which is amazing though. It's a rubber ring type affair, but instead of a relaxing float down to the ground you go at great speed UP and down the slide - that's right - UP. The water shoots you upwards. It's quite thrilling and induces mega weggies. There's a sufring machine too, but I think you pay seperately for it. There are cafes overlooking the pool complex. The changing rooms are fairly large and varied with plenty of lockers (£1 deposit). There's even one of those high-tech drying machines. There is now also a climbing wall, which looks very pretty and you can see it from the main foyer. I think it's part of the big play area (4 storeys!) that includes sports halls. However, it is a lot more expensive than it was in my day - £7 per adult for 2 hours just for the waterpark. You can get a family ticket for £20, or if you're a Swansea resident you can get a further discount and a loyalty card. The gym has membership starting at £25/month which is loads cheaper than in London.

We love the LC but don't visit as often as we would have liked to as it is very pricey…read more We take our baby swimming there so don't need to use the pools with all the waterslides and waves but are still charged the same £7 as people who use all the facilities which I feel is wrong. The changing rooms are fantastic and always clean and warm. The sensory part of the soft play is great too and our baby loves the bubble lamps. I would not advise eating the food in the Bistro as the steak is remarkably like shoe leather and the potatoes strangely like rocks. Nice staff though.
