My 95 year old Dad lives alone in Gettysburg PA. I live on the other side of the country. A few…read moremonths ago it became necessary to find more help for him and this happened very suddenly. I spent hours on the computer searching for home health aides and even more hours making phone calls. I was constantly running into the same problems...either there was no help available or Gettysburg was not in the covered area. Lady Luck was truly on my side when I called the Home Instead office in Chambersburg PA and had the good fortune to speak with Gail Walls-General Manager at that location. She completely understood my wants and needs for my Dad. From that first day on she has been amazing, remarkable, understanding, helpful and competent. My contact with Gail consists of email messages and there has never been a message that I sent that I had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a reply. Add to my complete satisfaction in dealing with her and Home Instead, she found aides for Dad that he is truly happy and comfortable with that give him the extra help and care that he needs. While I have not personally had any interactions with the aides, I hear the happiness in my Dad's voice when he speaks of them. Being so physically far away from Dad is difficult for me but I know Dad is in good hands when the aides from Home Instead are with him. I will be forever grateful to Gail for making this situation so much easier. My sincere thanks and gratitude to Gail Walls and Home Instead.

As my dad has MS and has special needs, it was a special order, which also has a warranty. He was really nice before the purchase, but afterwards, any issues that arose, we were met with rudeness and idleness. I'm not sure if his issue is with young people, women, or everyone, but he is anything but professional. My dad's chair has a cord that connects to the remote, and the lock to hold it into the bottom of the chair was broken, and it was moving the whole way up and the whole way back on its own, sometimes rendering my dad helpless with his head on the ground for hours at a time or pushed against the wall due to the malfunctioning chair. When multiple PCAs and I reported this to Kurt, instead of showing concern or trying to fix the problem quickly, he was callous, cold and full of excuses to myself and two PCAs over the phone. We reported problems the middle and end of the week as it happened more than once and he waited until the following week to order the parts. The problem continued and we switched out the recliner for another chair that he barely fits in and moved the recliner to the living room to be worked on. When he got to the house to fix it, he said it can't be fixed because the frame is warped but he said my dad isn't heavy enough to do that? The frame wasn't even the problem initially and probably got warped while my dad was in compromising positions during the time Kurt neglected to order the parts. He even said to me and a PCAs that dad cried wolf with the cord once before and he sent it back to the company even though it worked and he wasn't going to do it again. I'm sorry but it's not the customer's job to know how to fix something, it's his job. If it still worked, he should have been able to see that instead of neglecting a disabled elderly man and allowing him to be upside down multiple times before ordering anything, after 4-5 calls and me threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau, he finally ordered the part, but now he can't fix the chair bc of the frame that no one is strong enough to warp and won't honor the warranty? This feels wrong. Do not do business with this man if you value the safety of your loved ones. He may have products that are cheaper than other places, but the service is cheap too and virtually non-existent. I am contacting the office of aging, Blair senior services and the Better Business Bureau, but I wanted to make sure our story was heard here too.

The frame wasn't even the problem initially, it was the cord on the bottom which was an electrical issue & multiple times put my dad the whole way back with his head nearly on the floor as it wouldn't stop moving on it's own and my dad is disabled, the frame probably got warped while my dad was in compromising positions during the time Kurt neglected to order the parts & yelled, literally yelled & hung up on me &t caregivers who called out of concern as well. He even said to me & the caregivers that dad cried wolf with the cord once before & Kurt sent it back to the company even though it worked and he wasn't going to do it again. This feels wrong & petty. In addition, Kurt was at the house for nearly 6 hours taking the chair apart, & at nearly 8pm at night, when the last caregiver was leaving for the evening, my dad told Kurt he would need to leave as well so the house could be locked up as my dad isn't mobile. Kurt pitched a fit yelling at my dad then called me and yelled at me, & on his way out, the caregiver told me he slammed the door so hard the whole house shook. It's been over 6 months, he wouldn't answer any calls after he threw a fit at the house & the chair remains in our living room in pieces, my dad still in a chair too small because we can't afford to buy another chair as this one was thousands of dollars with a warranty he refused to honor. Do not do business with this man if you value the safety of your loved ones. He may have products that are cheaper than other places, but the service is cheap too & virtually non-existent.

I have never experienced having a grown woman who is suppose to be a professional act the way she has from a job. After making a complaint about her unwanted behavior to have the calls stop she retaliated. Her family and her retaliated by making up false accusations and false verbal statements to the police department. Her family and her even accused my family of removing their car tires after complaining that she was making unwanted calls. My family and I were never even patients/clients of hers, therefore she had no business even calling me from home nursing agency. We were not patients/clients of her specific office...yet she still made unprofessional calls from her work. Although, I do have a young child with special needs. I never had issues with the agency prior to this but Lynda Witherspoon had no reason to call me from her job. Her calls were very unprofessional and very inappropriate. The way she retaliated was ridiculous. No one in my family touched her car tires. It's ridiculous to have to deal with unnecessary calls from her from her job and then when reporting the calls to have them stop it's nothing but drama from her family and her. Before accusing someone of taking off car tires check security cameras. Needless to say I doubt her car tires were even touched or removed.

When my father came back from CTCA he was to get infusions for seven days straight starting on a Tuesday. We did not get a nurse at our house to give the infusion until Thursday. Then the visits became progressively later in the day, and our nurse was always running late. The other day, she called because again she was "running late", and said she'd be by around 4. Well, she failed to mention she got off at 4, and when we called her around 4:25 she told us she was just walking into a movie theater and would try to get someone else out to us. I was floored. We went through 2 other nurses before someone came 4 hours later. Now, tonight was the worst yet. The nurse was to come over around 4:00, we called at 5:00, the operator said Blair County had quite a few call offs, but she'd get us someone. 6:00 rolls around, and nothing, so we called again and got a someone who said there was another nurse starting at 8:00 and she would call us and come right out at 8:00. So at 8:30 we called, after not getting a phone call from the 8:00 nurse, and this operator has no idea what we were talking about, we weren't in the system to be serviced tonight. So for the fourth time tonight we explain what needed to happen. At 9:15 a male nurse called and said he'd be there around 10:00. After a full day in the hospital and not sleeping well, my father was exhausted and not to to waiting around for more incompetence to happen. They are a sad excuse for a professional service, they are inconsiderate, incompetent, rude and overall terrible. If I was as negligent in my job as they continue to be in theirs, I'd be fired. Highly disappointed and cannot wait to cancel all future interactions. If you settle for your loved ones kind of getting what they need or maybe getting the help they deserve, call them. But if you want competent, educated, caring nurses... Run away from this agency.
