I am only giving this review one star because it was the lowest rating listed, they actually deserve a MINUS rating. I brought my vehicle and I told them it wouldn't start and that I thought it was the ignition switch, sarcastically he said " everyone thinks they know what's wrong with their car". Later that day he called and stated that it took a lot of work to find the cause of the problem and it wound up being the ignition switch, which I told him to check first. He proceeded to say that it would cost $680 to have the car fixed. When I questioned the amount he said it was because it took him a long time to diagnose the problem and that he had to reprogram my original key and the cost of that was $180 because " he knew someone that would do it cheap". There was no issue with the key he "said" he had reprogrammed because my second key still worked properly. Also, at that time he stated that he would only take cash - no check or credit card. My vehicle was basically held hostage because he said he already started the work. I asked what type of warranty I have and he said "there is no warranty and nothing will break". When I arrived home I noticed that the hood of my vehicle was not down tight and when I checked I saw a razorblade and saw that my wires had been stripped to bare metal. I believe no repair was ever done to the switch because it still wasn't working properly. I immediately called to bring the car back and was told " I don't have time to look at it". I tried several times to call and was given the same response. I had to bring my car somewhere else to fix the wires. Since this issue I checked with various auto shops as well as checking on-line and this repair was TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS but as previously stated he had my vehicle so I was forced to pay the $680 bill. I am writing this to give farewarning to others so that they will not encounter this type of disception and dishonesty. read more

I brought my truck to to brake pads on rear wheels, he had a difficult time with passenger side wheel. Became angry, any way he said its done. Next day my brakes started grinding.Had my son take off rear wheel , he put on old pads. I trusted Ron completely but I found out he's a con man. Stay away at all cost. Never again . TERRIBLE SHOP. We had our rear brakes and bearings 'repaired'. When the problem actually got worse over the next 6 months we took it to another shop. Come to find out that not only did RT 37 Auto not fix the bearings (they were both loose and both still needed replacement) but they ALSO disconnected the Emergency Brake System and actually LEFT OFF PARTS (who knows why-maybe they couldn't get them to fit, maybe it was laziness). The obviously botched work was pointed out by a different garage who had us come in to verify the state of the brakes after they inspected them. They literally couldn't believe what they were seeing and wanted us to view the situation firsthand before they made any repairs. This is by far the WORST experience I have had with a "auto repair shop"!! I should have walked away when the owner asked me for money for parts. If they don't have an account with a parts store that is usually a sign that they are not to be trusted. Secondly, I had to tell him that it was a timing chain,not a belt as he tried to convince me it was. My car was there for a month without 1 phone call from him,every time I called he wasn't there or was to busy. Then he told me my engine was blown!! Please do not bring your vehicle to this place!! It was my first time in here today, a busy summer Saturday morning, ten minutes from one of the bigger draws to the Jersey Shore. I'd had an appointment elsewhere, but on arrival, they had decided that they didn't want to install the OEM parts I had provided. Understandable, I suppose, but they could have told me that when I set the appointment and told them what I needed them to do. It's not like I was being cheap; the vehicle is hard to find parts for, so I figured I'd avoid a long wait or complete disappointment by ordering them ahead of time from a known and reliable source. At any rate, after calling a few other local shops to no avail, I came across 37 East Auto Repair. The gentleman I spoke with told me I could drop it off right away, and assured me the work would be done quickly as I left. Two hours later, the job was completed, and I was perfectly satisfied with the cost, which was more than reasonable. It's an old fashioned, two bay Mom & Pop type shop; not a looker, for sure, and some reluctance to leave a vehicle with them based on appearance would be understandable. To be completely honest, if I wasn't in a real bind, I might have kept driving. But maybe not. I prefer to patronize small businesses when I can, and an automotive repair facility doesn't have to have spotless white walls and neatly uniformed technicians. They kept my car clean, and that's important. And I imagine somewhat difficult, given the environment. To say parking is at a premium would be a real understatement, but I didn't end up leaving it in the street, and it came back undamaged. Having worked in the automotive industry, there were a couple of things I was slightly uncomfortable with, as much for their protection as mine. For one, at no point did they take down the VIN or ask for any identification. In fact, when I dropped the car off, the aforementioned gentleman took only my first name and phone number, saying he would call when it was done. That's not good for them or for me; I have no proof that the work they did was on that specific vehicle, and they would have nothing to go on if I had given them a fraudulent name and credit card. Secondly, after finishing and parking, the technician left the keys in the ignition with the windows down, This is also not good for them, because if, again, I had provided bad information, I could have driven off without paying, and they wouldn't have been able to do a thing about it. And fortunately for me, nothing was missing. I'm sure if I were to mention these things, they'd say they've never had a problem, but that's the thing about problems: you don't have one until you do. So I'll just leave it here. Still, all in all, I was very happy with the repair and greatly relieved to have it done. I was sent here from a counter guy at Advanced Auto because they no longer can run diagnostics for you. I met owner Ron who was friendly, hooked up the machine and when it did not register, he took apart my fuse box, checked and replaced two fuses, reran and diagnostic, which found out the problem WAS the fuses. Was there about 20-25 minutes and he told me NO CHARGE...KEEP US IN MIND NEXT TIME YOU HAVE AN ISSUE.....who does that?? they are my new mechanics and I will refer anyone to them. FYI - he also saw that my tiers were on their last leg and introduced me a tire guy that was there making a delivery. HE could have ordered them for me, but told me to go direct and save a fee bucks.
