3D Brick recently completed work on our new patio, walkway and floor for the garage porch. And we are very pleased. The patio itself is beautiful. But the replacement of the cement walk to the garage, and the old concrete slab by the garage, exceeded our expectations. The slab was in horrible condition, broken up, and uneven, undoubtedly due to tree roots. Ricardo and his team removed all of the old cement as well as the offending roots and replaced them with an attractive floor. Needless to say, it is a tremendous improvement. What a terrific company~finally someone who was honest and fair as far as pricing. We had a brick patio put in back in 2007 and the warranty was up in 2014. Yep, great warranty back then! The last few years, water started pooling under the dining table and once it soaked in, there was silt which couldn't be swept away, it had to be hosed down. Two years ago, we had someone put in a French drain but it was only a 2" pipe so it didn't really help. Franco came out from 3D and suggested a 6" drain and removal of several bricks. They built up the material underneath the bricks and put them back where they were and voila! No more issues. We hired 3D Brick Paving for a compete rebuild of our brick paver patio. The promised Nieman Marcus (at Newman Marcus prices) goods and delivered Dollar Store quality work. To begin with they installed the pavers too high so now we have water coming in our basement. The step landings they recommended broke after about a year, the cuts and angles look like Ray Charles cut them with help from Stevie Wonder not even close to what they show on their website or in the brochures. The city I live in failed it on inspection and they told me "not to worry about it they don't really care" so 5.5 years later it still hasn't passed inspection. I called to ask them to look at and fix the step landings after 3 months and about 5-6 phone calls they finally came out and said yeah they need to be fixed. Several phone calls and about 18 months later they came out to replace the landings and the new ones have cracked again in less than 6 months. The other work they fixed was, to put it gently, less than ideal. Different colored bricks, several they fixed are loose. Overall they promised cake, candy and lollipops and delivered a steaming pile of dog mess. read more

We've used 3D in the past and have been very happy with their work. Needing to have a retaining wall redone, I called them 3 times, once leaving a message (they never returned my call) and they finally came out about a week later. They said they'd email me the proposal within 2-3 days. It's been a week and a half and I'm still waiting. I've called them 3 times and no answer and they have yet to return my messages. This is not a way to run a business if you want to make money. We're going with another company who's customer service has been terrific. They came out and gave us a price before they left. They've been texting us with pictures of stone colors and other items we've asked about. At this point I don't care if they are charging me slightly more. I did not have any work done by 3D but one of their drivers accidentally hit my mailbox when turning around from the driveway across the street. The company was very responsive in having someone come out and take the mailbox out of the ground and re set it in new concrete as the truck pushed the mailbox and made it loose in its foundation. I had no proof (only visually saw him hit the mailbox), but the company did not dispute it or try to claim the driver did not do it, you have to appreciate a company with integrity. The person who took my call was very apologetic (although not her fault) and assured me it would be looked into and taken care of, and it was. I think the measure of a business is not how they can do a good job, it's what they do when there is a problem. I had a sewer repair that required digging so my front steps had to be rebuilt. I found Mike, like many of you, by looking at Yelp reviews. Mike agreed to do the job and re-use the stones even though they had to be re-assembled like a puzzle! Other contractors wanted to use new materials which would have been an additional cost. Unfortunately, when the job was almost done some of the stones didn't look right and some of the old materials were cracked during the process. We have a unique front area in our house with a brick wall enclosing it, so we wanted to create a Mediterranean style courtyard. We interviewed a few paver companies, but Frank at 3D really stood out - he had some great ideas for how to make the whole design flow and suggested that we incorporate the walkway where it connects to the driveway. We had several companies come out to review the yard and propose and quote a paver patio and installation of rock underneath our deck. The job was somewhere around 650-700 square feet of paver alone. We had a pool up until a couple of years ago and we no longer wanted the pool, and I no longer wanted to maintain grass in this area. All others that we talked to or had quote the project paled in comparison to 3D with regard to offerings and really understanding the job. Mike D' Aiello came out on a rainy Saturday a couple of weeks ago and stood in the rain with us checking the current grade and proposing several ideas for our conversion. One of our big concerns was drainage as we did not want our new patio to be the reason for neighbor's flooded yards. Mike took care of that. No one else that came out even checked the grade and addressed the drainage concern with options like Mike did. We sat in the kitchen and Mike explained everything going into the quote. He actually did the quote while we talked and had coffee at the kitchen table. I'm somewhat of an old-school kitchen table talk kind of guy as that's how I was brought up. If I can't get a feel for a guy in my kitchen over coffee or alternate drink, it's not a good fit for me. On Sunday we drove out to their place in Des Plaines and looked at the different options and patterns in their outdoor showroom. We then met Mike later in the week to go over the details and see what we were getting. Mike showed and gave us an idea as to what the pavers would look like with different finishes (wet and matte).We went home and it didn't take long for us to decide who we were going with. We actually upgraded to another paver without any up-sell pressure from Mike. He just wanted us to get what we wanted and be happy with it. My wife also insisted that if we were going to get this work done, 3D was the only one she wanted to do the work. We made the agreement and we were slated for a 3 day job scheduled to be done the last week of May as we wanted to get this work done as soon as possible. Mike called me last Saturday and said he had a crew available this week as some of the other towns he was doing work in hadn't yet issued permits they needed. His crew came and worked Monday through Wednesday. The guys worked hard, were attentive to our requests and made sure everything was clean in the alley and surrounding areas everyday before they left. We are so pleased with the work and the way the patio and rock under the deck worked out. We've had more people stopping by than ever this week, just to see the work. They have all been impressed and complimentary. I personally can't say enough good things about Mike and the 3D crew, other than now we have a beautiful patio and back yard and we are looking toward many years of putting it to good use, thanks to them. This is not a story of a new installation, but one 20 years after my Unilock brick was installed. Original installer no longer in business. The moldings holding the bricks down coming out due to years of raising and lowering ground from weather changes. Many areas no longer looking as flat and clean as it used to bet. Plus I was tired of power washing all my brick so was extremely dirty and moss growing all over the place between the bricks. Called a number of installers. None would take the job and those that would insisted in using a sealer. Bricks are 20 years old and don't like any coatings or cement like sand between the bricks. But they all insisted. Then called Mike D'Aiello at 3D Brick. Mike came out and was extremely informative. He never tried to force us to do anything. Only provided his expert opinion. Mike quoted us to lift out all the existing moldings including all surrounding brick, replace the moldings, level some areas, and even identified an area where we could put an underground gutter drain. Our original gutter drain laid across the walkway that lead to the backyard and had to always go around it or trip on the gutter. We opted to have the underground drain pipe and pop up drain installed while they were here. Price was incredibly good compared to others and for a minor cost took out an entire area of brick that was very uneven and relaid it. The materials they used did not match the low price they charged. The materials were top grade. They didn't break a single brick during the job. Power washing job they did took care of all the moss and dirt and bricks looked wonderful. Took them the good part of a day which was nothing for such a tedious job. The driveway, walkway, and patio look better now than it did when we originally had it installed. Javier and crew were very nice, dedicated to their work, and willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. They left the area looking immaculate. We had the same bad experience as other 1 star reviews from the summer of 2018. We met with a rep in June, 2018 and had a great meeting about installing a patio. The rep was obviously very knowledgeable and experienced. He made some great suggestions and presented a bid a couple of weeks later. We asked for a few modifications in the proposal, and he said he'd resubmit a bid in the next week or so. At that point, everything fell apart. We made many efforts to communicate with him, each resulting in a lot of frustration on our part. We received repeated promises of follow-ups from 3D, none of which came to fruition. They did great work once they started working, but as others have stated, scheduling could be an issue. It took us weeks to finally get a hold of our rep after accepting the job proposal and they started like a month later. The workers who came did a nice job and were responsive to any changes or questions we had and patiently explained things to us when we didn't understand why something was being done a certain way. Overall, I am happy with the finished product and am very glad I don't have to be chasing these people around.
