They were able to replace the tile and vanity within the amount of time we requested (3 days). His estimate was very reasonable. During the process, Frank was very communicative. But the only difficulty I would say was communicating with his team, if Frank wasn't present, because of my broken Spanish. But Frank was able to resolve any issues and concerns that we had. Avoid this company! What seemed to be a positive experience turned into an expensive nightmare after they finished the job. They are NOT licensed to do plumbing work yet do that work at the cost of the homeowner. Do not make our mistake. We hired Speedy Gonzalez to remodel our bathroom. They put in new floor tiles, a new tub, plumbing and bath tiles for us. They quoted us 4-5 days for the work and it took 12 days. We gave our son a bath the same night that they finished. About a half hour later, water was POURING from the ceiling beneath the tub. Imagine an ENTIRE bathtub full of water coming through your ceiling. It was terrifying and incredibly stressful. Unfortunately, I was in the bath when this happened, so I had to take a shop vac and empty an entire bath tub full of water and bring it in batches up to the roof to put down the storm drain while my wife called an emergency water remediation company. We had an emergency plumber come out to find and fix the issue the next day. As you can see in the picture the P-Trap was completely disconnected. It's clear Bernardo or someone from his team did not run a test bath before packing up and leaving (something a licensed plumber would 100% do). The emergency plumber said that the Speedy Gonzalez plumber used the old P-Trap and connected it with a lot of silicone, which is absolutely not how it is supposed to be done. The emergency plumber suspects that the silicone was used as a way to cover up an issue, which suggests that Bernardo's plumber knew something was wrong (and was, quite frankly, too lazy to do correctly). We decided to have Bernardo's team do the repair work because we were quoted another $6000 from a water mitigation company for the work. We couldn't file an insurance claim with our homeowners insurance because Speedy Gonzalez is unlicensed (and therefore we would've been at fault). Completely our mistake and we will never hire unlicensed workers again. For the next week, we had fans and dehumidifiers running 24/7 after Bernardo and his crew cut out the water-logged drywall. This was really hard, especially considering the fact that they had just spent nearly a month doing the remodel, which is also really disruptive (though that's obviously through no fault of theirs). I only include that to say that just when we were breathing a sigh of relief that our lives would go back to normal and we'd have a beautiful new bathroom to enjoy, our life was thrown into chaos. The next thing: the emergency plumber was expensive. It cost us $2,500. We expected Bernardo to cover this. When he asked how much it cost, his response was "My plumber could have done it for $500!" We would not have had need for an emergency plumber had it not been for Bernardo's plumber's negligent work, so I felt 0% confident in letting him (or anyone else on Bernardo's team) handle any diagnostics or repairs. He said that he could not file a claim because his insurance would drop him. He agreed to pay out of pocket on a payment plan ($500 every two weeks). He made three payments, but he has ghosted me over the last week. I know he's read the texts, but he has not responded. Since the day of the bath incident, we have also noticed some other areas of shoddy work. They did not caulk around the bath. They did not caulk around the faucet. It came loose today. I hope water has not been passing through that gap. There are some chips in bath tiles that were not caused by us (they are higher than we can reach). The work looks sloppy and is going to cost us additional money to fix. This has been the experience from hell. Unless you want to risk a nightmare scenario and have sloppy work done by an unlicensed company who is insured (but doesn't use their insurance when needed) and who will not do everything they can to make things right when they make a HUGE error, I'd look elsewhere. We got our shower fixed by these guys. Our primary contact was Frank but Jonathan did most of the work. Jonathan's English was really good but he felt more comfortable speaking Spanish. Which is my husband's first language which isn't a problem. But when he wasn't around, we would just call Frank and he would translate, which wasn't necessary because again, his English was great, but he wanted to make sure that everything was appropriately communicated. We were originally planning on it taking a week and a half and starting in late June but there were delays so we pushed it back. Once we got started, it ended up being 3 and a half weeks. HOWEVER, we were able to use the shower without issue after two weeks. The extra time was just waiting for the glass door to be done. We are obsessed with our shower. My ceiling paint had started peeling (thankfully no water!) and it was time to start consulting to make sure what next steps were necessary. When I was told I needed to mud and sand my entire ceiling, I went to Yelp and opened a project. Several companies had responded, but I chose Speedy Gonzalez because I was impressed with Frank's prompt response. Not only was Frank knowledgeable, he also offered me the option to paint the ceiling after the job was done. Both quotes (for mudding and sanding alone and the mudding, sanding, and painting) were beyond reasonable. Speedy Gonzalez beat out quotes by at least $100. I even when with the painting because I was impressed for the price of that addition, too. When it came to scheduling, Frank had several options that met my needs. His team member who came out for the project was very professional and kind. The project took a good part of the day and his team member worked very hard. After the project was completed (in one day), he cleaned up and you couldn't tell anyone had been working. The only change was my great newly fixed ceiling with a fresh coat of paint! If I'm considering any repainting or need any drywall repairs, I am going straight back to Speedy Gonzalez. You can also pay via Zelle, so you don't have to worry about having a check or cash. Wow. What an amazing experience and result. New year, new basement! My husband and I had been busy plotting and planning what began as a "let's rip up the gross basement carpet and maybe paint, you know, a little refresh," for our 1920s Chicago Bungalow last October. In 2002, we had completely finished, carpeted, drywalled, added a wet bar, updated the bathroom, added two bedrooms for our kids and had a lovely family room constructed - 22 years ago... and now... it sucks. No, it was fine. Dated, but fine. The carpet, however, had to go. After a ton of research I set my sights on an epoxy floor. That started everything. Skip ahead after getting quotes, and finding an awesome contractor, Frank Mora and his talented, professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable crew. We explained what we were going for, what we wanted to keep, change, re-work and repair, along with our design vision... what started out as just an epoxy floor (and we wanted a custom color, matte finish epoxy look too!) Frank listened, took it all in, and totally got it. He worked to make it a reality - all the while showing interest, contributing great suggestions and ideas, and keeping a great sense of humor and friendliness during crazy construction ups and downs (the shape of our concrete floor under old carpet being one of the downs) - but he brought in a concrete crew to fix it and make it mold free and family safe. Naturally, we may have added in a few things, painting, a 22 foot long work table, drywalling over a door that went nowhere, repainting the cabinets, new quartz countertop, how about a feature wall... then that carpet came up. Yuck. Cracked and deteriorating, molding concrete across the front of the house. It was removed (dug down three feet) and re-poured, so this indeed really had to be done. Floor back in action, after Thanksgiving break, the epoxy could finally be poured, -then everything could fall into place, the painting, the finishing, the feature wall - pole wrap! We may have gotten some fun new and old mcm furniture along the way, and we still have art to hang and finishing stuff so I really should post more pictures when that is completed, but we could not wait any longer to post this amazing work. I have a 1950s home with a vaulted ceiling that had really bad insulation. Every winter I would get ice dams resulting in water leaks into the house. Tired of repairing the damage every year, I decided to install spray foam insulation and needed someone who could remove the entire ceiling and replace it after the spray foam was installed. Not knowing anyone, I looked on yelp and Speedy Gonzalez Inc had the most and highest reviews; I thought I would take a chance. After submitting the online inquiry, I was contacted within 10 minutes and they were able to come out the next day to measure and provide a quote. Scheduling was a little difficult on my part because I had to coordinate with the Spray Foam company, Frank from Speedy Gonzalez Inc made the scheduling process easy. When they came out, they help me move a couple pieces of heavy furniture, and started off by applying several layers of protection over the hardwood floors and sealing off the remainder of the house to protect from dust. They were able to complete demolition and clean up ahead of schedule within a single day. After demolition we realize that the can lighting was the type used in remodels And now we would have to install new construction fixtures; Frank had his electrician come that next day to complete the work. Since the Spray Foam was also completed ahead schedule, Frank had his guys start hanging the drywall on Saturday instead of the intended Tuesday. As I was happy with the work so far, I also asked them if they could do a few more repairs around the house which they completed at a very reasonable price. The new timeline was to work through the week and hopefully finish by the next Monday; I was pleasantly surprised when I got home on Friday and found the work completed, all trash removed and even the floors mopped. Inspecting the work, everything looked great and even the painting has clean cut lines. I am so pleased with Frank's work that I am typing this up as they leave. Frank maintained efficient communication throughout: from stopping by to provide a free quote, to responding promptly to questions, arriving on time as scheduled and finishing promptly. It is important to note that he also provided project warranty! Our roof has since been repaired so I doubt we would need it, however, it gives us peace of mind knowing we have coverage. The project was to fix a ceiling drywall that another contractor had messed up, as you can see in the photos (ceiling condensate, previous contractor's job, Frank's work). It was a two-man team and they were done in great timing that worked with my schedule.
