We used them to get new siding, and even comparing James Hardie to James Hardie, they had a better experience than other places we looked at. The only downside to the experience was that we found nails/screws in our driveway for weeks after, and we had to have them come out and fix the gutters (the downspout needed to be extended for proper drainage). It wasn't a perfect experience, but we're happy with our siding and I'd be happy to use them again. read more

Had a disappointing experience several times with Bak Brothers. Contracted with them to replace several entry doors in our home back in 2019, Covid happened and the install got delayed perhaps a year? Not their fault at all, it seemed like they subcontracted the work to some other company when it came time to install, though. Part of the back door wasn't done right so I had to make the comment to the installers that I will have to wait to pay until it was fixed, it got fixed immediately after that. After that, gave them another try to remodel our master bathroom. Met over Zoom June of 2022, met in person later that month, we were ready to sign a contract that day if they had one, but we waited, and waited, and waited. Reached out in early July, then again in late July, told in early August that they'll have the bid for me shortly. Never heard from them again. Decided to try one more time this year for a siding project. Filled out their online form, was called by someone and reached back out mid-June and never heard back. I really don't mind if a company doesn't want to do business with a particular customer, just let me know so I don't spend time trying to reach out and spin my wheels. I recently completed a kitchen renovation with Bak Bros and if I could I would give them 10 stars. Artur was easy to work with, listened to all my questions and concerns and addressed them all before we even started the project. I was worried it would take longer than expected as most projects do, but he predicted 4-6 weeks and it was done in 4. The trades people they use were all fantastic, did a beautiful job with tile, painting cabinets, carpentry, counters, electric, plumbing, etc. But the real star of the show was Greg, the project manager. He was organized, efficient and communicative. I love the finished product and I equally loved the journey. I cannot recommend Bak Bros enough. read more

He came in and gave us great advice for what we should consider for our bathroom remodel and has a wealth of technical knowledge both with respect to design and construction. He delivered a very fair quote for the bathroom remodel and made sure to introduce me to his Interior Lead, Mark, before work started. I can't write enough good things about Mark either. He and his crew were courteous, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They meticulously placed drop clothes and plastic runners on our flooring to keep it clean and were very respectful of our home. I felt completely at ease letting them come in during the day while we were at work. They encountered a few minor surprises along the way (as is traditional with any remodel!) and knew exactly what to do. The quality of the remodel was excellent. Overall, this was a far better process than i could have expected. Artur and Karl are extremely knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations throughout the entire process, whether it be design or overall lay out. Also, they could not have been more reassuring that things were going to be done correctly and in a timely fashion. We had an entire kitchen remodel. Example: load bearing wall removed, laundry room attached to the kitchen was created, new cabinets, island, you name it. Done unbelievably well. (They also cleaned up every night too, limited dust and hazards). Part of the renovation actually lined up with when we were going on vacation for a week. We had absolutely no problems trusting this team with constant access and control of the house while we were gone. It was perfect. The renovation actually finished and we had an issue with our plumbing very soon after they left (it ended up being completely unrelated to the work that was done) REGARDLESS they sent someone out on a SUNDAY to help fix the situation. Bak Brothers did a lot of work for us last year and I smile everyday when I look at the finished product.Our front exterior door that they suggested and installed is beautiful and much finer quality than I imagined ,and the siding they installed is beautiful. Inside they did much construction to fix water damage that was caused by weather damage and everything done was TOP quality.They hired a top quality painter to complete the job. Ben and Arthur Bak have excellent taste and suggestions which made everything that much easier. Moving into spring, I would only use Bak Bros. to replace my windows and other updates that my 40 year old home is going to be needing soon! read more

Update: The irony is that it only took them 24 hours to respond to this Yelp review but not provide estimates after I waited six days. Spend less time on here and more time actually responding to customers who wanted to work with you. It won't happen again with me though. ---------------- As a full-time freelancer, I am adamant about potential clients getting answers in 24 hours. Even if I absolutely don't want to do the assignment, I'll still respond. I think their time is as important as mine. So because I view business like this, I tend to expect this in return, especially if I reach out first to try to give someone new business. Our condo association reached out to them for potential work. They did respond immediately to clarify the job and ask for the address. But then six days later, I got no response. I had to reach out to them again to find out their rate, which was about $2K higher than a competitor. Even when the condo association asked for a couple more things from the competitor, those rates were STILL lower than Bak Brothers' original rate. I asked for another estimate from Bak Brothers, but I just didn't want to wait another six days until they got around to responding. So I said, "Never mind." I got a response saying that they didn't get a chance to give us an estimate. Good point. I gave them another shot and asked. Five days later, and no estimate again. I'm not chasing ANYBODY'S company to pay them, whether it's an individual job or a condo association job. While I wouldn't ever reach out to them again, it certainly looks like from the other reviews that they'll do great work. No one has this many positive reviews without being able to stand by their name. But the customer service leaves too much to be desired, which makes me think that I'd have to keep following up over and over again. Hard pass. I'll look at other companies instead. High ratings don't mean I'm going to chase anybody around like a puppy. read more

After posting my negative review, I received a call from Artur regarding the issues we've had over the years regarding their work and product. I found him extremely professional and very understanding, unlike his father that we dealt with in the past without any resolution to our problems. Within days he stopped over our house to go over all the issues we had with the gutters, soffit, etc. Without hesitation he said he will always stand by his product and if something fails he will fix it and that's exactly what happened. Bak Brothers is an amazing company! They recently completed work to replace all of our vinyl siding with Hoardie Board fiber cement siding and adding two new windows. From the moment we met Norbert during the initial assessment we knew we would be in good hands. Norbert was extremely professional and honest when providing his recommendations for the window additions and selecting siding materials and the quote provided was extremely reasonable and well below what most of the other companies were going to charge for the work. Additionally, throughout the project Norbert was great at communicating expectations to us regarding timing, issues identified during the project, and payments and came to our house consistently throughout the project to review the progress of the work and to address any questions that we had and to troubleshoot issues that arose. In addition to having a great experience working with Norbert, we really enjoyed working with Sebastian and his crew. They worked diligently on our project including on weekends which enabled our project to be completed timely and in advance of the winter months. They also went the extra mile to leave our home in the condition they found it (e.g., putting our gutters back in place, sealing external areas) and matching the existing paint inside to ensure a seamless transition to the new windows. They left the project site spotless and came back a few times after the project to touch up paint, caulk, etc., no questions asked. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Bak Brothers to anyone! We purchased our home 4 years ago in Glenview and gutted the inside to bring the 1970's home into the new century. But soon after remodeling the inside, I would walk outside and out home possessed the exterior look of the 1970's. I began researching how I could update the facade of the home, but obtaining estimates (4-5 over 2 years) and dealing with pushy salesmen got draining real quick. I finally decided that there was no contractor out there that could help make this wish of mine possible. So I decided to go exercise one Sunday and after leaving, a truck pulled up next to me with Bak Brothers written on the side. Since I was at the light, I read the information and took down their number. I called when I arrived home and left a message. Surprisingly, someone called me back about an hour later on a Sunday! Longer story short, the gentleman took all my info and sent someone out to my home. I met with Artur Bak (owner) and the ball began rolling immediately. Artur and his project manager (Norbert) listened, took copious notes, asked vital questions, and were always available to hear my ideas and suggestions. Thankfully their suggestions were better than mine. The workmanship and professionalism was unmatched. Their staff working on my home we're on time, worked diligently each day, cleaned up at the end of each day, and were friendly and trustworthy around my family. I have referred Bak Brothers to a number of friends, family members and neighbors because they truly work with the customer. We subcontracted with this company to perform exterior work including siding, gutters, repairs and front porch construction in Morton Grove IL. Unfortunately, they have not responded to repeated requests to perform repairs under warranty as they promised. Attempts at contacting the company owner have proven futile. After waiting over a year for simple resolution, we'll have to do the warranty repair ourselves. While the original work was in progress, we had to consistently monitor so that nothing was missed. He quickly measured our window openings and explained available options, directing us to informative online brochures about the ProVia Endure line Bak Brothers' sells. Within a day, he emailed us an itemized, easy-to-understand bid. He even gave us phone numbers and email addresses of recent customers we could call for references. And he went above and beyond by bringing a window to our house so that we could see it in person without traveling to the showroom. After recommending that our attic needs more ventilation to prevent ice damming, they told us they could not do that work anymore and then gave us a proposal for the roof replacement that was higher than 3 other reputable roofers. When the address numbers were reinstalled crooked, they replaced the piece of siding and reinstalled the address. When door trim started bowing away from the frame several months later, they came to try to fix it and when that didn't solve the issue, they replaced it. All this for a fair price that beat competitors, one of whom we had previously used for new windows. Very nice to see them follow through to ensure a proper final product. read more

After visiting several local dealers, I met Artur who was knowledgeable, very PATIENT (I took a great deal of time making decisions), and extremely personable. I wanted to find a style of doors that didn't look like the standard builder's special that we were replacing. Bak Brothers works with a variety of manufactures giving me several options from which to choose. Moreover, Artur was able to download pictures of my home showing me how different doors would actually look. He also sent us samples of all the possible glass patterns available which was so very helpful in making my final choice. I can't thank Artur and Norbert enough. The experience reminded me of home remodeling TV shows; good communication, high quality materials and workmanship, and fast turn around times. I can't say enough good things about the whole team at BAK Brothers. Re-siding an entire house James Hardie is an expensive project in and of itself. After you add on replacing all the windows, doors, and rebuilding the back deck, and you are looking at a massive undertaking. To complicate things, we had some open areas around the foundation of the addition on the back of our house that needed to be properly sealed up. We contacted a number of siding and windows vendors but only Artur Bak consistently returned our calls and replied to emails quickly, answered questions, provided alternatives to customize our home, referred us to various sites in locations in our area where they were doing work, worked with us on the pricing, and had a good plan for addressing some of the unique issues with our home like the open areas around the foundation of the addition. Throughout the sales process, Artur made suggestions that we hadn't thought of and helped us to pick all the right elements for our desired final result. Once the project began, Norbert was an outstanding project manager who was on site most days when the team was working, and kept us informed every step of the way. Our house was built in 1953, so there were a few surprises along the way, which was to be expected. Each time an issue came up, Norbert and the crew addressed it with us promptly and worked with us to come up with the best possible plan to resolve it without completely blowing our budget out of the water. Andy and the rest of the crew performing the work were skilled craftsmen. The site was cleaned up at the end of each day and everyone responded quickly when we had a concern and made sure that 100% of the project was done to our satisfaction. A week later I didn't receive it and called him directly and left a message and did not hear back. It's unprofessional to not return a phone call and not provide an estimate. At least be straight forward to say that you are not tasked to do the job so I'm not waiting.
