Juan and his guys did an excellent job of repairing our brick patio. They took up all the existing bricks and then removed the tree roots and leveled the base. They took out our steps which had 'settled' over the last 12 years and then put it all back together again including new footings for the steps. The end results were excellent. I highly recommend Alvarez Brick Paving for repairing brick patios. The only minor negative is that it took 1 1/2 days longer than he first estimated but that was not a problem at all. read more

Wish I could give a better review. Had them out last fall to do brick pavers around my asphalt driveway and this part went very well. I was pleased with how it looked. Lately however made repeated attempts to have them come out and seal the pavers and this is where my problem began. Inspite of assurances that I was on the schedule they never came out to do the job. Follow up texts by me to resolve this ultimately went ignored. Rather than pursue this further decided to have someone else do the sealing. Unfortunate. read more

What can I say about Juan and his crew? Like most of you, I did my due diligence and researched various companies to find which ones have really good reviews for patios as well as cost and time efficient. In that regards, Juan nailed it on all 3!! Our patio done with brick pavers took about 8 full days. The cost that he estimated from the beginning did not change and I was very happy with that. Juan provided some great recommendations (and even said no to areas where he could have made extra money but said no due to appearance). He is super easy to talk to and while he may not be on premise the whole day due to other projects, he responds to calls and texts right away. I found Alvarez Brick Paving on Yelp and worked very closely with Juan Alvarez. My project was a driveway extension (3rd parking spot) and installation of an in-ground basketball system. All I can say is WOW! Juan's company and staff are amazing. They far exceeded my expectation. From the beginning, Juan was the only one out of the 4 companies that I called for estimates to bring a catalog, so I could see the various styles of the brick pavers. He was also by far the least expensive. It was a no-brainer to give him the job. His staff is very professional, works fast, but does a very high quality job. The brick pavers turned out beautifully and the in-ground basketball hoop (Goaliath 54" In-Ground hoop purchased from Dick's) was installed so well that it barely even moves when shooting. An aging paver installation will have you wistfully wondering, can its youthful beauty be recaptured? Can the clock of Father Time be turned back? My paver installation was over 15 years old, and suffered from severe discoloration, misaligned and sunken bricks, damaged edging, uneven stairs (on a stoop), and... you get the idea. The crew from Alvarez Brick Paving reset all poorly positioned pavers, installed new edging, power-washed the pavers, and applied polymeric sand and a sealer. The transformation has been remarkable. Only problem is, the pavers look so nice now, I don't want to walk on them. Working with Juan and his crew has been a pleasure. I called 5 companies out to bid a 350sf area in my back yard in which we were going to need the old grass dug up, then prepared and then lay Unilock Holland pavers. Same scope of work was given to all of the bidders and Alvarez came up with the best plan, best suggestions and best pricing. I literally told all contractors to come on a Saturday between 9 am and noon and that we were ready to start work asap. He got his bid in the same day- as did 3 other contractors- I accepted it and he literally started Monday morning in the rain as promised. His bid was the best as well- 600.00 less than any of his competitors and he had to travel from Wheeling to Chicago! They were also completed the job on time. He came by for a quote on Saturday, we received the full bid the same day and the work was completed by Friday.
