So much talent but one piece immediately caught my eye, and from the moment I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me! The painting's composition is absolutely mesmerizing. I might be a little biased since teal is one of my favorite colors--but the way Boris uses it here is just perfect. Boris' use of teal to outline the zombie's hair and body creates a striking contrast against the more subdued tones of the piece. This teal is rich yet ethereal, giving the figure an almost otherworldly presence--like a spectral being suspended between life and death. It feels like the subject exists in both worlds at once, capturing that perfect eerie beauty that defines this genre of art. Equally impressive is the background. The black-and-white contrast feels both simple and complex at once, complementing the figure perfectly. There's something about how it pops against both a black and white wall--it's like the piece takes on a life of its own, shifting and changing with the light. It was a chance encounter with this rainbow beam of a person that made me stop in my tracks and take a closer look. I'm so glad that I took that moment because the man wearing those DayGlo kicks is actually a very gifted and multi-talented Urban Artist known as Kam. I asked naively, "What are you going paint?"
