I can't say enough great things about Stewart. Two years ago, he designed and built a soffit/shelf to cover a pipe running over a brick wall, and we were so thrilled with it. Beautiful work, attention to detail, tidy workspace plus clean-up, didn't go over budget. Far, far exceeded our expectations. So we asked him to design and build 3 radiator covers which he just installed. Again, Stewart over delivered. Beautiful, well-constructed, functional covers that he installed with painstaking detail-- somehow they are level, sit flush against old warped walls/floors, and were cut perfectly to fit with the baseboard moulding. And each one is discretely fastened to the wall. Plus, he finished a week ahead of schedule and didn't go over budget. Stewart is honest, completely reliable, and a nice guy. Stewart and my husband deconstructed an old upright piano that was no longer working and Stewart created an amazing display shelf from the remains. (He's also an amazing garden designer, but that's another story. :-) He's creative, reliable, accommodating, and a total pleasure to work with. I can't recommend him highly enough! read more

Stewart is trustworthy, smart, hardworking, and creative. He's easy to work with, and every project becomes a fun collaboration. My home is filled with beautiful touches from back when he lived in Vermont. He decluttered truckloads of stuff, remade my office from a dingy pit into a beautiful energized space, re-floored the porch, built shelving, and even built new rooms. He can do anything, from the most simple and rustic to the most classic and elegant. You should see his VT home--it's a hand-built work of art, a living machine filled with curving trunks of whole trees and myriad elegant, rustic details. Stewart is a true artisan - he takes pride in his work, honors his commitments and produces a product that is akin to that of skilled artisans of the last century. I moved to an apartment in Brooklyn and needed (i) relocation of closets, (ii) new free standing closets and shelves and (iii) a specialized lighted display case. I also was particular to wood type and finish. As an aside, i was particular about every aspect of the project. Stewart did multiple plan revisions with me, provided specific sketches and executed all projects with exceptional skill. While the project duration went longer than expected (due to the intricacies of what was needed), Stewart honored his pricing and never begrudged me anything. What sealed the deal for me writing this review was that, a few months post completion, Stewart initiated a follow-up call to me to see if any adjustments were needed and whether i was satisfied with his work. So, if you want an honest and thoughtful artisan who cares about his work and his customers, look no further. You have found him!! read more

Everything the other three reviewers said about Stewart is true - he's really skilled, creative, and likable. He did some weatherproofing for us last year and did a custom bookshelf project this year and everything about the experience has been first-rate.
