Went in not to buy, to but to ask about turntables which can transfer to mp3, as I've been lugging around albums for centuries -- or maybe just decades. He gave me some good advice about what to look for and also provided information on selling to him once that's done. Bob at 4000 holes is a real nice guy. He has a great selection and can order just about anything. He also sells vintage HiFi equipment. His prices are pretty reasonable. He also will let you listen to used items you are looking at so you can try new stuff to see if you like it without having to buy it. Best record store in town. I'm from out of town, but I always try and make it to this shop even if I'm just Passing through. I've always scored great stuff here. Employees are friendly. It's easy to get to. Always plenty of parking. And it's just a nice clean, organized shop. Highly recommend it. read more

I have been here twice now and so far this is my favorite record store in Spokane. The first time it was the late nineties, when it was mostly a CD music store with some vinyl, NOW it's a record store with some CDs. Organization is great between new, old, discounted and new arrivals and this place has so much inventory that one could spend hours here. I believe I was here for over an hour and looked through a third of the shop. The owner is just as friendly as I remember and is full of knowledge. This place is clean, comfortable and relaxing with the variety of music that he has going. If you're looking for some rare, clean or new vinyl, check out this little gem that has survived many trends and recessions. read more

In town and checked out some record shops. 4,000 Holes did not disappoint. Quite a fantastic selection and price. Didn't want to go to a big box store and I always want to support the independents. Looked for the new Radiohead and they had it at a good price. Most of the used CDs were $4 (3 for $10) unless priced as marked. Whoops, found a bunch for...(wait for it) $2! Nice work. The vinyl bins rounded the perimeter of the store but I ran out of time looking at other stuff. 4,00 Holes is highly recommended for cd/vinyl shopping in Spokane. read more

I started shopping at 4000 Holes in 1991, from a vinyl shopping stage to the late 1990's CD shopping stage - NOW back to my vinyl love! Bob (the owner) has THE best selection of records - whether on hand or to special order. Hard to find, colored, imported and bootlegged releases. Records are always pristine, not warped nor scratch. I came out from seattle so the shop is smaller than im used to, but it made up for its size with quantity. Not much for punk selection but lots of gems if you dig around. The guy running the place was super nice and had good tunes playing. If im in spokane again I'll definitely be back. read more

Happen to find this place back in 92. When it was on the corner or Maxwell and Monroe. I used to buy CDs there. They had the absolute best selection of import and live CDs. Fast forward 25 years later. I moved back to Spokane, the store is still there, and Bob is still behind the counter. He specializes mostly in vinyl now. Good thing, because I have stepped back in time and "upgraded" my sound . . . Bob is still just as friendly as he was. If he doesn't have something you want, he will track it down for you. He has more Beatles stuff than you can shake a stick at. Don't be fooled though, he has just as much "new" as he does "vintage" and used. This is a cool store to visit if you are a Beatles fan. He's got tons of Beatle vinyl, new and used. The owner is a friendly guy that enjoys chatting about music. I do wish the cd's were more finely sorted, but it's well worth spending an hour or so at this place. I have found some rare Badfinger related cd's here, hope to stop in again next time I am in Spokane. read more

Quaint old-school record store. The selection is sorta random detritus but it had the charm of a bygone era. The owner worships the Beatles. Check it out, the day is imminent when these will not exist anymore. That day will suck. read more

By far my favorite record store in town. The owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and can help you find whatever you are looking for or give you some music suggestions. 4000 holes has the best variety in town. Shop is packed with albums so give yourself some time to look. You'll find something you're looking for if you look hard enough.
