This is a really, really special music store. You can find records, cassettes, and CDs here (including many that are out-of-print and/or hard to find). They have an outstanding selection. Local artists are integrated throughout each section, which I really appreciated. I spent an hour here but could have easily stayed for longer. The two employees I spoke with were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The cat who works there also came by to see if I needed anything. If you love or even like music, it's well worth your time to visit Long Ear when you're in CDA. read more

Long Ear is a pretty great spot for music collectors and I'd recommend it to anyone in the area. We were visiting CDA and had mentioned to multiple people that we'd like to check out Long Ear and they all encouraged us to go. The vibe is cool and the staff were really friendly. I was hoping they'd be selling movies in addition to music (they weren't) but the music collection was pretty extensive. It did seem a little pricey and I am accustomed to vinyl shops being on the less expensive end but that wouldn't discourage me from spending a morning digging around for some records. As far as the music goes, maybe 75% of the retail space is cd and the other 25% is vinyl. I shopped the vinyl section only. The pricing is good. The used selection was a bit leaner that what I'm used to seeing in stores around Seattle. Their new section is amazing. I found copies of stuff I haven't seen anywhere else. I ended up having to put half my stack back but still ended up leaving with 9 new and one used record. I hope this community supports these guys and their efforts because this place is a gem. read more

Nick, (the cool guy with the long hair), is always so helpful and knows his music! Whatever I'm looking for he's always able to find for me or see if it can be ordered. Just went there yesterday looking for older records (I'm a late Boomer). Their new and remastered ones were labeled and displayed well. Then I looked for used records and what they had was relatively small, indexed alphabetically only. Not even in plastic sleeves. So, obviously a business decision on their part to ditch the record sales, and duh the sign says CD's, but guess I'll hit the antique and thrift stores instead. read more

Lots of new vinyl here. Their used selection is rather pathetic but that's probably due to the lack of turnover in this town. I did some things in the bin and a special pressing from a Spokane punk band. Staff is super friendly. Prices seem a bit high. read more

By far the best record store within 30 miles, trust me i've been to them all. Staff are extremely friendly, post inventory on instagram and are willing to place holds on things for you to come in and pick up later. Store is extremely organized and all of the bins are satisfying to dig through. I have seen ZERO bootlegs in this store and admire that and beleive it speaks to the fact that they care about the music and the customer more than profit. I cannot recommend supporting this store enough. read more

One of the coolest independent music stores that I've ever been in. The staff greets you when you walk through the door. If you have a question, usually the knowledgeable staff can answer it or point you in the right direction. They have a huge music selection and if they don't have it, they will order it for you. If you do purchase something you are entered into their weekly drawings for your chance to win some of that money you spent there back. Also, if you sign up on their email list you may occasionally get notified of special deals or events that are going on. read more

I don't buy music anywhere else. Period. The Long Ear has been my favorite place to shop for new tunes for years now, and is just one of the coolest stores to browse. The two guys I see in there most often are really nice, have great recommendations and make you feel welcome. Whenever I'm questioning a new band, new album, etc, I can ask someone in there for an opinion, and I've never been steered in the wrong direction. They also sell music for independent musicians, which is rare. On their wall of CD's to sample, you'll see at least half a dozen local artists. This place also has a good selection of posters, other music memorabilia, incense, assorted decorations and knick-knacks. Great prices, all new releases sell for around $3-4 off for the first two weeks. If you want to casually stick it to the man, then stop going to Wal-Mart for your music, and start shopping at the Long Ear. read more
