Service: The lady at the register was very welcoming and even explained the spice options and most popular dishes. Ambiance: Seating options were abundant from chairs to bench's to stools with window seats as well. Just an added plus is that there are contactless sinks outside the restrooms, for ones (like me) who just want to wash their hands and not touch bathroom doors or sinks!

Even the Mild is spicy and the Lemon Herb (bottom of the spice level) has a kick to it. To be clear, I have zero tolerance for spice, so when other reviews say there is no spice in the Lemon Herb, they are probably used to spice on the daily.... Is this place Portuguese or African? I'm not sure! All I know is that this African Bird's Eye Chili spice is the real deal. I got the Lemon Herb Chicken Rice Bowl. It doesn't come with any vegetables, so it's pretty plain. You can order steamed vegetables, but that is mostly carrots and green beans. Hubs got the half chicken with mild and lemon herb. He is more used to spice and he was downing his water. It is packed with flavor with a punch, just not somewhere I would come regularly. The prices were on the higher side for what you get as well. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and patient with us as we were newbies. Easy parking.

I've wanted to try this place for a while but the location inside The Collective has been closed…read morethe last couple of times I've been there so I was quite excited to find this new location on a recent trip to Penn Square Mall. The food was delicious I got the beef suya sticks and the coconut jollof rice, my partner got the beef sandwich and the dodo (plantains). We were both really pleased with the food and we will definitely be back. The only reason for the 4-star rating versus 5 is the fact that they had one person working the entire store during a lunch hour. It wasn't super busy but the food took a long time to come out because the gentleman behind the counter kept stopping to help people at the register. I get the strain to find good staff but having only one person seems counter productive when you're trying to push food out to customers.

Might be new location working out the kinks, but after this visit I prefer the collective location…read more This Penn square shop was slow and the food was just ok. I had the Beef Suya sandwich with dodo ($13). The sandwich was good but the Bell Peppers and Onion were just big chunks and barely cooked. Maybe that's traditional so I'm not knocking them for that. The Beef was great. Edie's dressing had a nice flavor. My big issue was the plantains were frozen and just dropped into the deep fryer, so they were served in a pool of grease and total mush. Plus I'm pretty sure they were bananas due to the sweetness and texture. It was disappointing but maybe it was an off day.
