Always looking for a great gyro plate and this one at Heydeh's is exactly what I was looking for. Tender gyro meat, soft warm pita and tzatziki sauce. There is a big difference in restaurant's versions of tzatziki and I'm a fan of this one. The salad and salad dressing was very tasty but I do have to say I think calamata olives are a must over black olives but I didn't let that hinder me as I plowed through my meal. Stumbled across this place and decided to spontaneously try it for lunch. No line at all. Restaurant's AC must've not been working that day because fans were blowing! Chicken kebabs were a bit on the dry side and required some ketchup to help with the process. Gyro was ok, was told the meat is 80-90% beef and 10% lamb. We stopped in Haydeh's Bistro For delicious lunch lunch. We started out with Dolma (grape leaves stuffed with flavorful rice). The chicken in the wrap was tender and juicy. The Gyro meat was on a warm pita topped with lettuce, tomato, olives, and feta cheese - delicious. The beef kebab - ground beef seasoned and placed on a skewer was tender and very flavorful, the saffron rice was light and fluffy - Very tasty. I met a friend here for lunch on a recent Tuesday. There were two other parties dining there when we arrived. We ordered at the counter and then found ourselves a table. Instrumental Christmas music played through the dining room's sound system during our visit. The menu board notes that sometimes they have lamb shank and other specials. When I'm in the mood for lamb, it may be wise to call ahead. I'm sure it would make a great takeout dish for dinner later in the week. I ordered the gyro combo with salad as my side dish. I use the gyro as a way to compare Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurants. This one was not as good as my favorite at ZamZam, but it delivered on everything I like in a gyro. It had a large portion of warm gyro meat; a sturdy, soft pita; zingy tzatziki sauce; and a few tomato slices and onion slices. One sandwich construction problem was that they served the tomatoes sliced and not diced into little cubes. With cubes, it's easier to distribute the tomato evenly throughout the sandwich. With slices, you have awkward bites where you try to bite just part of a tomato slice. Other times, the slices simply fall off the sandwich. Since I ordered a salad as my side, that was okay. The salad had crunchy lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, and a modestly seasoned oil and vinegar dressing. It was served on the two smaller sections of the 3-section dining plate. It tasted fine, but it was not aesthetically pleasing. Haydeh's Bistro is competing against two gyro joints near Rockwell and NW Expressway, as well as ZamZam at NW 39th Expressway and MacArthur. It's worth another try since it's in my neighborhood, but ZamZam remains my favorite for now. read more

Their drink machine is always working as is their cold fridge which houses a variety of bottled beverages and Mediterranean desserts . The food comes to you fresh from the kitchen pipping hot. . Their cuisine is phenomenal every time. Your taste buds will be taken on a magical ride with each bite . Every dish will elicit warm and fuzzy feelings that will surely keep you coming back for more and possibly rock you to sleep. Just happened across them on Yelp when looking for dinner, and was pleasantly surprised. Had a takeout with Chicken Kabobs, Hummus and Pita, Persian Salad and Baklava. But forgot to take pics before we ate it! Everything tasted very fresh and homemade, down to the pita. The chicken was seasoned just right and very flavorful (Not boring chicken!) And the basmati rice was perfect and may have been the best I've had. Hummus portion could have been larger, but it the size was satisfactory for the price - just not enough for the ample pita. Can't say enough about the tasty Persian Salad - super fresh cucumbers, tomatoes (they weren't like cardboard) and onion. Baklava looks great, but haven't eaten that yet! Based on everything else, I'm sure it's great. Small, family run operation with super friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant was clean and tables nicely set.
