During the Summer, the MAC serves as the mountain biking center, renting and selling top-of-the-line mountain bikes and serving as repair shop and retail center for upscale clothing lines such as Burton and Mountain Hardwear. During Winter, the MAC rents top-notch demo skis and awards a rental credit for purchasing the skis. It also stocks top-line safety gear such as goggles and helmets. I'd award the MAC a 4-star rating. However, in the recent past, I've seen that many of their employees, obviously experts at their trade, treat customers with disdain and lack of courtesy. That's unforgivable in a store that is supposed to be the Snowshoe's Ambassador to the expert and proficient crowd. Twice within the past year, I've brought my skis to the place and been treated as if they were doing me a favor. I'd feel bad if I hadn't seen others being treated the same way. Go figure.

Mountain Kids is a godsend at the Snowshoe Village. They cater to kids, period, and their offerings range from the upscale to the quotidian. It is also a good place to try if you have a real small frame and need form-fitting ski underwear, given that most retailers are now catering to the more portly and larger American body type. Also one of the few places where you can get safety gear (goggles, helmets, etc) sized to the under 15 crowd, an important item in a ski resort. Their location two doors from Starbucks and overlooking the Village at Snoshoe is ideal. Besides ski clothing, they also have an extensive selection of toys and other youngster necessities. I'm glad that Intrawest and Snowshoe chose to open a kids' store, lending an even more family atmosphere to the resort.
