I NEVER do reviews because I'm a pretty tough customer but 495 deserves to be commended on the outstanding service and response time. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. My car was in the garage for a week and a half because I broke the pulley on the door. I called EVERY, and I do mean EVERY garage company listed on Google and Yelp in Frederick and a few in Gaithersburg. 495 Garage Door was the ONLY garage company that had the part I needed for my garage door. I called 495 Garage on 6/17 @330pm. My garage door was fixed 6/18 (within 24 hours). The technician. Avi was extremely professional, explained what he was doing and why. He was so courteous and efficient. Shortly after Avi left, David with 495 Garage Door called to follow up on my service appointment. I was elated to see some companies still do follow ups. I was already immensely impressed with 495 Garage Door but David sealed it. . 495 Garage Door is an example of what companies should aspire to be. **Tales of the broken garage door** Last week, my garage door went up and said 'eff it, I'm not coming down'. I did everything I could to get the stupid thing down and my door was all, 'who gonna check me boo'. So.... I made a claim to the home warranty company. I spoke to Mike and he initially gave me an unreasonable appointment. I had things to do and needed someone ASAP. I could not understand why they were so booked. I asked if they were going around breaking garages for business to explain why they were so busy. Mike replied, "no, not this week!" Lol. Look, I flirted, I joked, I was close to willing to sell an organ but.... he found a Sunday appointment and all was well. I really appreciated Mike's tone & his friendly professional demeanor over the phone. I was having quite a week and it was effective in de-escalating me. Manually closing the door became a pain and I refuse to park on the street so, I was stranded. I couldn't leave the house! Then I decided to try to fix it myself (although I had a pending appointment). Fixed it!!! I'm Barbara Villa... I'm gonna have my own HGTV show tune in at Never thirty, every Neverday. Lol! Fast forward to today. 495 Garage Door is coming today! Honestly, I plum forgot. The repairman calls to say he's 10 mins away. The window was 11a to 1p and he was calling me at 10:56. I tell him I've fixed the problem but I need him to confirm I did it right then ask him to assess my garage door as a whole. His name is Ron. I was afraid they sent out the intern since I gave Mike such a hard time on the phone with appointment scheduling. Ron is NO intern. He said he's been doing this for 8 years. It was evident because his eyes were sharp when he did my assessment. He looked around, and noticed my track is bent, the hinges are bent, the springs are worn and the door is too loud. He then asks me, "have you ever taken care of your garage door". I told him no. I've been here for 3.5 yrs and I've spent that time fixing & updating other things that the previous 2 owners didn't and the house is 17yrs old. He tells me, my warranty only covers mechanical malfunctions and not maintenance on wear & tear. I'm given a price that includes my copay. It's reasonable. It's more than I was prepared for, but it was reasonable. Within an hour, this man has fixed & updated everything and is educating me on how to care for my garage. As he is doing the fixes, he's showing me: this is bent. This is what worn is. Look at this vs this. This is almost broken, gotta replace this too. I appreciate his instruction in Garage Door 101 because, I honestly didn't know anything beyond: press the button. And I should note, he even reached in a cobweb to adjust the sensor. A cobweb?! Ron is basically the Superman of all repairmen because I'm not reaching in a cobweb for anyone, ever. About Ron: He's super friendly, competent & efficient. Side note: He's also absolutely adorable. Hopefully, I won't need there services for 3 years (and yes, Ron, I'll do everything you suggested). But, when it's time for me to replace my springs & hinges again, I'll be calling Mike and requesting Ron. read more

Technician came out to my home on 08/14/23 and before doing a inspection on why he was sent to my home he stated my brand new springs needed to be changed and then he could change the garage door opener. He noted to the insurance company that my door was too heavy for the springs and this caused the insurance company to decline my repairs. The technician contacted me in the am to make an appointment to repair my door knowing he reported my door as the issue. This company is a RIP-OFF scam. They took the $100 from the insurance company that we paid for them to come out and then he came out to get it declined to try and make us pay him out of pocket!!! SCAM ARTIST!!! I requested a quote for a garage door that wasn't closing properly and it would be too hard for me to close. I received a message shortly after requesting the quote and In a matter of a few texts, I was scheduled for a free estimate visit the following day. I received confirmation of the appointment the night before, also the day of and I received a text 30 minutes before the tech arrival. One thing to notice is that they send you a link to check the status of your appointment and tech arrival, which I thought was pretty cool, so you don't have to wonder when the tech will arrive. Mr. Eli showed up on time, wore his mask and was very polite and friendly. He offered advice and answered all of my questions. I agreed on the quote price, he had everything needed to perform the work and he did everything in about 30 minutes! Our garage springs system broke this week and we contacted our home warranty company who sent 495 Garage. They came out the next day and Moshen, the tech, was professional and arrived in time. Unfortunately, our issue was not covered by the insurance company and I was charged $950 to fix our issue. I am not happy with the costs and don't know much about how much it is to fix this kind of issue, but because Moshen seemed honest enough, we decided to get the issue fixed and not get other quotes. Moshen diligently completed the job and recommended other upgrades for when our budget allows. Thank you for fixing our garage issue in one day! read more

I have to admit that halfway through my appointment with 495 garage door, I didn't expect to be writing a five star review. I had already had one garage door company come out and take a look at why our clickers were not consistently opening and closing our garage door. Whether it was the factory clicker, the second clicker I bought or the keypad, our garage door only opened about 50% of the time. The repair man sent by 495 garage door was a nice young man, but I kind of doubted his expertise. Boy was I wrong! My "repair" consisted of replacing the batteries in our keypad and replacing the LED lightbulbs I put in the opener. After that, the repairman charged me $75 and went on his way. At first I kind of felt ripped off. Now, after several months of both clickers and the keypad working 100% of the time, I think $75 was a very cheap price to pay. I would never have known to switch out the lightbulbs and that LED lightbulbs can affect the frequencies a garage door clicker uses. I am very happy with the service 495 garage door provided and I will call them if I ever have a real problem with our garage door. read more

I called in and made an appointment with a very charming young lady named Saril. She was extremely kind, very personable and attended to all my appointment needs timely and efficiently. David, the 494 technician was really a gem! Wow, he has a terrific personality! Not only was he exactly on time to the appointment, but he was a lot of fun to work with. He is very knowledgeable, and explained in detail every step of the repair to my garage door. David's customer service is unparalleled! When I had to move my SUV out of my garage to accommodate his work, the battery in my key fob had died. David is so nice; he said no problem, took my key fob and changed the battery himself!! I got 495 Garage Door to fix my garage door. They actually ruined it rather than fixing it (look at the pictures). I had to call them 10 times and do a complain and it still took the supervisor 3 days to call me back. They sent me the same technician that ruined it to fix it again, but apparently now he broke the door and the glass. I called them again and the same excuse which was the supervisor will call you right back. I paid $300 to brake my garage and not fix it. I would totally recommend other companies that are cheaper and know what they are doing. I really like how you responded to my Yelp review within 24 hours, but it still takes more than 3 days to return a call. Trying to reach a manager at your company is like taking an appointment from the president. To respond to your reply, my garage door wasn't broken before your technician came out. Why will your technician fix a door and charge me $300 when he knows that its gonna break within less than 24 hours? On another note, I got another company that looked at it and can do a much better job than you guys did and fix my existing door and give me a 2 year warranty on it and charge me less than you did. If your company is a professional company that hires technicians that know how to do the work, then you would've been able to fix my garage without breaking it. I hope that I can get an answer here by tomorrow, rather than waiting for someone another week to call me back. read more

Technical came out on Sunday, 3/17 to install new garage opener on 1 door and provide routine service on my other 2 garage doors. Cost: $1,100. After installing garage opener, the technician discovered that not only was it defective, the key pad and 1 remote was missing. In addition, the technician did not have all the necessary materials to perform the maintenance on the other 2 other garage doors. The technician informed us that he was driving another technicians truck and apologized for not having the necessary items to complete the job. Although, somewhat perplexed about why someone would show-up to do a job without all the necessary equipment or materials is beyond my comprehension. Nevertheless, my husband and I agreed to schedule another appt. for someone to come out on Wednesday, 3/30, 1-5 p.m. to complete the job. On Wednesday, 3/30 at 3:36 pm, the technician (who was different from the first guy) called to inform us that he was 5 mins away. Approx. 17 minutes later (3:43 pm) the technician called to informed me that he was outside and that he was only going to wait 10 mins. I didn't understand why he felt a need to tell me that he was only waiting 10 minutes for someone to open the garage when my husband was already headed to the door. I told him if he had somewhere else he needed to be he could just leave. Again, he felt a need to repeat that he wasn't waiting more than 10 minutes. I told him to leave and to take his bad attitude with him. I do not want him to do the job. I immediately contacted the office to report him and see about getting someone else to complete the job. When I explained to the customer service rep what had occurred she showed no emphathy and seemed to be just as rude. I decided to hang up the phone and called back hoping to get someone else. Thank goodness this time I got someone with good customer skills. I asked for the manager and was told that he was working remotely and would call me back shortly. I've already paid $550 for the work that was not completed. Yes, call me crazy for paying for incomplete work. I don't know why I have a tendency for paying people for incomplete or shotty work however, I refuse to pay another penny to this company. 495 Garage Door, please come and get your defective equipment and refund monies paid in the amount of $550 to my account for services not rendered. Lesson learned. I will never choose a business solely based on "positive" reviews. Good service these days is extremely hard to find. read more

Our garage door spring broke and I requested service through the Yelp App. 495 Garage Door responded within minutes. I explained that our car was stuck in the garage and we needed help soon. They quickly arranged for a technician to come out and the repair was completed in less than an hour. Also replaced the rollers and gave the door a tune up. Woody, the technician, was very professional , knowledgeable and flexible. Thanks Woody! Door works perfectly and the door opens and closes much more quietly and smoothly than it did before. I had a garage door opener installed. The man who installed it was very nice and explained everything. The only thing i didn't like was how the wires were placed. I felt they could've been placed more strategically and not just thrown up, just my opinion. Doesn't affect the functionality of the opener just doesn't look as good as it could. I didn't notice how the wiring was placed until after the job was done. If you care about how they look i would check before the technician leaves. read more

I hate to do it, but I have to be honest. I researched several garage companies on YELP and narrowed my choices down to two. I decided to go with 495 because they were slightly cheaper than the other company when I requested a quote. Let me start with the positive, they were quick to respond, very professional, punctual (early even), the service tech wore a mask [during pandemic], and my new system was installed without issue - so far. Everything great...then came the bait & switch. I was quoted one price on the phone & then I ended up paying MORE than DOUBLE what I was quoted. Times are hard for everyone during this pandemic & being charged this much extra on the spot, left me feeling taken advantage of. The tech told me that I need a new part & of course the labor to install it. It seemed astronomical that the installation fee of an ENTIRE new system (keypad, wall console, steel-reinforced belt drive, sensors, etc.) cost X dollars, and that the ONE extra part & it's installation cost more than installing an ENTIRE new system. I would say buyer beware only because if you are a homeowner who simply doesn't know all the right questions to ask, the quote that they give can be greatly misleading. read more

Discovers them through my home warranty company. Continued to call them even after I cancelled the warranty. Their technicians are in my area two days a week I believe, so usually there little lag in booking the appointment and when someone comes. For me that's fine, I haven't had a life or death garage door issue to date. Their technicians are competent, courteous, friendly and honest. The show up when they say they will, they call when they are in their way or if they are going to be late. No pushy sales tactics to get you to buy a new piece of equipment, but they can quote you for anything you need on the spot. Very good service in my book! read more

Asked 495 for an estimate for a new garage door. "Tech" person who they sent out to measure and discuss garage door options was much less knowledgeable than people from other companies. I guess he was new because he had to make several calls to get answers to my questions. In the end, they never sent me an estimate, even after I sent an email reminding them that they were going to send one. read more
