This is easily the least professional, most sketchy company I have ever used to do anything for my house. Go ahead, give them a call, it'll go straight to a voicemail that doesn't even indicate that it's their business in any way. Want to pay them a visit in person? More bad news I'm afraid, as the address listed is the office of a bail bonds business, the company does not have an actual store. I have tried again and again to follow up on the progress of our order, no one ever emails or calls back. It was only when I sent a message through their website that someone got back to me, though it wasn't the sales representative who I tried emailing back; he basically took our deposit and hasn't talked to us since. When I tried to get a hold of the them through the number they provided after going through the website, it said that the mailbox hadn't been set up and I couldn't leave a message. We placed our order with them in April, they came in July to install only to find that it wasn't even the correct door. Since then, we've been told that the new door has been on a truck, that its been special ordered, all from reps of the parent company, as no one in the local office answers any communications of any kind; according to the parent company, we may not receive the door until February, but I doubt if we do at all, as again, we can never get a hold of anyone! As of November 2021, we still have yet to have any further updates, no further communications after I told them that at this point I just want a refund so I can find a company that actually takes ownership of their products and customer service. I understand that delays in this line of work happen and that we are still dealing with fall out from the pandemic, but not communicating with clients and completely misleading them about your legitimacy is inexcusable. If you're someone looking at this company to do work for you, save your money and mind by working with someone else, you will regret using these guys. read more

Last year, in 2021, I discovered Capital City Garage Door and begin discussions about having a roller garage door installed for my home in Washington, DC. In my initial interaction, everything was great - Jesse was responsive, attentive, and worked with me to find a good price for the installation. While I believe this company was initially trustworthy, the co-owner, Jesse Sellers, unfortunately, passed away last year. With her passing, the company took a 180-degree turn in the wrong direction. Since then, Joe Sellers (whose real name is Joseph Wunderler) took over and has poorly managed the company. After I put down a $8k deposit in March of 2022, I only later found out that Joe has given me nothing but excuses on why he hasn't been able to start the work. In my research, I later found out that he has been operating this company with an expired license (expired in 2021), but is still taking deposits. I am not the only one (see other, recent reviews) that he has done this to. He is extremely unresponsive - it takes multiple calls and/or texts for him to finally say something, and whatever comes out of his mouth is just fluff. He has given me every excuse in the book, including needing car repairs, supply chain issues, etc. I am currently in the process of filing a lawsuit against him. Do NOT reach out to this company. Also, please note that Joe uses multiple phone numbers and addresses to deter you from finding out exactly where he is, or what he's doing. Do NOT recommend. read more

Initially, he explained that work was delayed due to supply chain issues. Even after we waited three additional months, the garage door never arrived. After agreeing to return our deposit, he stopped returning all emails and phone calls. He still has our $7,000 deposit and we're filing suit. It's been a while since my door was serviced and I saw a good deal with Capital via Groupon. Get this, they called and said they were running ahead of schedule and could they come early . I knew then this was going to be a good day. The tech was very professional and efficient. He took the time to explain what he was doing and gave me tips to help maintain my door's operation. Jesse was extremely accommodating of and patient with the unique needs of my condo neighbors and me. She was also very generous with her time in answering all my questions, even on weekends and late at night. I hired this company in September 2021 and put $7k down to get started. It's the end of may and I still don't have my door. I understand supply chain issues were partially responsible, but that's only part of the problem. I advise anyone using this company to know that Jesse Sellers is the former owner who has been deceased since April 2021 so make sure you know who is doing the work because Joe uses Jesse's email and business accounts. Make sure the business license, insurance, and bond are all in the name of the person claiming to own the company and that they are current because they had all expired as of this year. The longer my business with him dragged on, the sketchier he became. He stopped answering calls, would never follow through with anything he said he would do, let his voicemail fill up to the point that it wouldn't accept new voicemails, and always had 100s of excuses for why all this was not his fault or was something he couldn't control. My experience is similar to Duc P.'s review which I just saw below. The bottom line is you should absolutely NOT do business with this company, which appears to just be one dishonest guy who is in over his head. My experience is as follows: I got a few quotes for garage doors from various companies. This one was competitive and the guy who came out (Joe) offered the soonest time frame, and recommended a contractor to pull out my existing (broken) garage door and reframe the wood before he could install the new one. I put down a $1,500 deposit. That was in April 2022, the new door was supposed to be installed in June. After the contractor removed my old door and finished his framing work, Joe was not ready to install the door, giving me the first of what was to become an endless stream of excuses: bad health, car accident, new car also had a problem, supplier issues, hired someone who didn't show up etc etc. At first I took him at his word but at a certain point I was skeptical he was being straight with me. Regardless, months after the door was supposed to be installed -- months of rain, dirt, etc coming into my now deconstructed garage -- Joe admitted he wasn't coming and said he would refund me deposit. Well of course he didn't actually refund me, he vanished. I'm still trying to get the money back. Hopefully like Duc P I won't have to resort to filing a law suit. read more

We had a bad experience with the company. They installed a commercial bay door at our warehouse. They were late starting and took 2 weeks make installation. Many days of arriving at 10am leaving at 1pm and then no one the next day. The door was poorly installed and they did not install a new track as paid for. Rather used the old one. Worst of all was that they refused to stand behind the work when it failed. read more

We are extremely happy with the service they provided. They arrived ahead of schedule, which worked perfectly for our schedule and worked efficiently and quickly. We only replaced one of our two garage doors and they were able to match the older door so that you can't we only replaced one. Great service! I knew there was a broken torsion spring, but there was also some damage to the supporting struts where the opener connects to the door. The technician didn't have the right parts with him, but returned to the office to get all the right parts, and had the replacement and full lubrication done in no time. The trim around our two garage doors was torn and looked terrible. Joe Sellers, owner of Capital City Garage Door, was quick to get back to me with an estimate. I got several estimates from local garage door specialists. His proposal was the least expensive and from the pictures I sent him, he knew exactly what was wrong with the way our trim around the door frame was originally installed. He also offered to come over the next day to do the work. He was personable, knowledgeable, worked quickly and did a beautiful job. He finished the trim work by washing down the trim with Goo-Gone spray so there was no residue left over. Really good guy. He offered easy credit card payment on the spot, e-mailed the receipt. I recommend Capital City Garage Door without hesitation. I recently had two garage doors and openers replaced and the workmanship and the customer service were both outstanding. Joseph heads up the installation team and the pride that he takes in his work definitely shows in the final product. His business partner, Jesse's customer service was flawless! While their cost are certainly more than competitive, it wasn't price alone that influenced my decision. Of the three companies that I came to give me an estimate, Capital City Garage Door; i.e. Joseph was the only contractor who pointed out that my doors were not the standard size. The difference between standard and my door size was only an inch, but that attention to detail and sharing that information was a preview of the professionalism that resulted in my having beautiful doors and even a more aesthetically pleasing mounting of the electrical wiring. I have no doubt that I made the best choice possible.
