What could improve? An actual visit with the vetinarian w/my pet in hand since you required it as part of an annual rabies vaccination. Not a vet tech and not ever again will I allow vaccinations and treatments to be administered in the back while I wait in the lobby and am told I can check out. Also of note, when I entered I stated I needed my dog needs an annual rabies shot and 2 months of nexgaurd plus. I was not told until after checking out that they were out of the dose needed and was offered other brands. They ended up finding 1 but still. Today was not at all what represented any vet visit I have ever had with any of my pets in the past 33 years of having them. If this is normal,We will have to find a new vet. read more

I took my dog to the ER on thanksgiving for a bursted cherry eye.. they were unable to operate and left me searching for a vet that would. 49th immediately made the appointment and got me in the following Monday! The vets could tell I was stressed and upset. They made sure I understood the procedure and answered any questions I had. Ollie has been back since, for an infected scab. The vets are amazing and always reassure me that puppy's are prone to accidents, and its nothing I did. I have since referred my friends and family to use them. 10/10 recommend read more

I made an appointment to get my 7 pound dog spayed. I asked when I scheduled for an estimate of cost, I was told it starts at 145 according to the dog's size. I asked them to microchip her and clean her ears. I knew this was an extra cost of 45 for microchip and 20 to clean her ears, not a problem. So I figured 200 to 250$. When I picked her up the cost was 350$. I asked why the difference and can I see the bill. Everything changed at that moment, they had always been very nice and professional but now three employees became very rude. I have been taking my dog there for the past year. I was rudely told that no one had given me an estimate, she repeated herself 3 times. I told her that she was the one who gave me the estimate. I saw the bill and understood the cost and should have been told the extra cost upfront but the way they treated me after I question the extra 100 was not professional at all. They have always been a lot more cost than the other vets in town but the convenience of an appointment outweighs that until now. They even charged me extra saying that she was in heat. Unless a dog stays in heat for 2 1/2 months she was not in heat. read more

Brought my dog for the first time to this vet, everyone working there was super friendly. The doctor was very detailed and seemed to really care about my dog. I had to come back because of some reaction my dog was having to medication and it freaked me out. Again staff super friendly and understanding. The vet was super helpful and nice. I'm visiting family and needed to take my grandmas dog to the vet. This place is fairly new from what i have heard. The staff met us outside due to covid and listened to our concerns attentively. The vet tech then took the dog in for assessment and then came back to give us a few options. The staff was friendly, explained things we didn't understand, and it was affordable. Took my cat she wasn't feeling well because of sores in her mouth and one on her chin. The doctor didn't even look inside her mouth, nor look at the one on her chin and acted like she was poison. Then, charge me for the whole things almost $260. I did buy monthly flea deter any too but that was still expensive for nothing. Then said she needed a blood test before he would do anything else! He gave her a shot and when I called back to say she needed something else he refused unless we got her a blood test! And they want a whopping $120 for it. I went to another vet he looked at her showed me the ulcers and sore on her chin, explained what was wrong gave her what she needed to get well and charged a whole$55. I'm visiting family for a few weeks and my new pup developed an itchy rash. Afraid it might be mange, I called and they offered to work her in that same day but instead I scheduled an appointment for the following day. We hardly waited after checking in and all the gals who worked up front were super sweet. I really liked their system and how you wait in your car after check in and they come out to you. The nurses and doc were both knowledgeable, kind, and answered all questions without rushing you. We got our girl a diagnoses and medications within 45 minutes. Thankfully just a virus that shampoo and antibiotics can fix. We had her first round of vaccines done else where but I'm for sure bringing her to these guys while we're still in town! read more

We have an older Yorker that has one bad leg. We were charged extra because he couldn't stand up. He is 14 yrs. old and has been groomed all these yrs. and never charged extra. We called to question the charges going from $50. to $60 and the response was I'm sorry. We had used them for his last grooming and he was cut so short you could see his skin. We will not be using 49th again I thought we would let them try again. Very unhapp! read more

My cats have been groomed for the last two years at the 49th St. Veterinary & Pet Spa. The Veterinary clinic is GREAT but the Pet Grooming is another story. I had been very happy with the grooming services until the last visit for my Maine Coon cats on August 18, 2023. My cats never had to be put to sleep to be bathed and groomed because they are gentle cats. The regular cat groomers left and a new cat groomer was hired, Stephanie. This narcissistic groomer stated that she was traumatized by being bitten before and wanted my cats put under. I emphasized I did not want my cats put to sleep unless it was absolutely necessary. To my knowledge, my sweet cats never bit anyone at the clinic or the pet spa. The groomer did shave my cats stomach, brushed de-shedded, and bathed them without putting them to sleep with no problem. After I had taken my cats home, I examined them and found the groomer did not comb out any of their rats. I called talked to the groomer and she said I had to ask for her to remove the rats. I have (Never) had to ask this from any groomer, it should be part of grooming!!! The problem with this grooming service is they must have a hard time keeping groomers especially ones to do cats. I talked to the office manager who sounded like she was reading from a script instead of trying to work something out between Stephanie and me. I was told at the end of the conversation they appreciated my business but perhaps I would be happier to go somewhere else. I am so bummed out and very disappointed with the 49th Street Veterinarian grooming services, that I am not a valued customer and I no longer can depend on them. Groomers come and go but loyal patronage can last a lifetime. read more

If you plan to have your puppy c-sectioned, do not go here. I absolutely regret going to this vet. In the French Bulldog community, I kept hearing how great this place was and was definitely not worth it. In the beginning, they were very kind and helpful when I had my French Bulldog c-sectioned on March 25th. I seriously thought the surgery had gone well. I was very comfortable with the surgery and their clinic. Several hours later, I saw my Frenchie refusing to lay down or drink water. I found this very abnormal of her and started getting concerned. I carefully decided to check her suture to see if everything was okay. I noticed a pinkish organ coming out of her suture in her abdominal area. I obviously got super worried and scared since she was heavily bleeding and saw this organ coming out. It was 1 am, so I needed to take her to a local emergency veterinarian. I was told by the emergency clinic doctor that her stitches were poorly done. The vet at the emergency clinic said the work was sloppy, and they only stitched a couple of layers not all the layers that are supposed to be closed up. In addition, the emergency clinic told me that she would have died in hours if I hadn't taken her in since she was heavily bleeding and had an organ out. That organ turned out to be an intestine. I spent thousands with both surgeries included. I followed up with 49th Street Vet, however, they were not professional at all. They kept making excuses on everything on the surgery, the pricing, me as the owner, etc... basically implying "you get what you pay for.". The work should always be done correctly no matter how much we pay! Please rethink taking your babies here! I now know that they are not professional and trained correctly! They need customer service training, from the doctor to the vet techs, to the front desk! Over the phone, the doctor couldn't even speak to me; she kept having her assistants do it. Obviously, she didn't want to since she was at fault! THE MORAL OF THE STORY - PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR FURBABIES HERE! They caused me and my furbaby enough emotional damage. read more
