Neutered only one testicle.. Angry, hurt, disappointed..where do I even begin. I live in Dallas. I drove 80 miles to get my Sheru neutered. I work full time and don't have days off very often. This place was the only place that does walk in surgeries which I was happy about. As soon as I walked inside, I felt the worst energy possible. Everything in me told me to just go home despite driving 80 miles to get there. The front desk girls are just horrible. Customer service was awful, I didn't even get a hi from anyone. Nor was I told the price of surgery, how long it will take, what they were doing, when they were starting..nothing. The front desk girl just told me to bring him inside (he was in the car) and that's it. I took him in from the back of the clinic where they keep the pups post surgery. One of the cages was DROWNED in blood and it was unsettling. Since there was absolutely no communication, I finally asked the girls in the back WHILE they were sedating him in front of me "No one really told me the price, how much would it be?" They snarked at me and said it's my responsibility to ask the price myself (she said $200). Fast forward to later when I pick him up, thank the heavens he looked fine and even had energy to hop in my car seat which I'll give this clinic credit for..thank you guys for not butchering him. But guess what..THEY CHARGED ME $250. That's not including the cone and pain meds. I told them this wasn't the price I was told. 30 mins of back and forth, they fixed it. When I left the clinic and arrived home in Texas, unfortunately that's when I noticed they only neutered one testicle. Please look at the pics below.. I called the clinic 20 times (different parts of the day)..no one picked up. And when someone finally did, they implied I'm lying and how "unusual" that sounds. Please tell me why I'd be lying driving 160 miles in total for my dog while having one testicle removed. Needless to say, this place is absolutely awful and they genuinely do not care about your pets. They are just running a business. I now have to spend more money to get the other testicle removed. The Dr's and staff are great, but waiting 3+ hours is just plain ridiculous. Used to be able to be seen in 1.5 hours max. They really need a better system. WARNING!!!!!! I don't even know where to begin but shame on this place!!! I had brought My Molly; a 16.5 year old Australian Shepard in Jan. 2023 because she wasn't acting right. After she was checked I was told it was her food. She needed to eat a lower Protein Food. The following day My Molly couldn't stand so I took her to Sherman Emergency Hospital. She had a tumor in her throat & it was Thyroid Cancer . On the third day after coming to your facility we had to have Molly put to sleep. You people misdiagnosed her!!..She had been coming to your facility for years & had received great care before. We trusted You.. It took me along time to decide to get another puppy but instead of one we got two. Two Mini Aussie sisters: Sophie & Fiona. I had been trying to find a place to get them spayed but any place I called was 2 to 3 weeks out & we could not wait. My husband brought both puppies in on Wednesday April 10, 2024; to be spayed before they went into heat. (They are 7 months old.) So with saying all of this I thought I'd give Bryan County another chance. As my husband was waiting he saw the Gray Haired Nurse put Sophie on the scale , she then picked her up by the scruff of her neck & grabbed her above her tail on her back & slid her off the scale across the floor!!! Unacceptable!!! Who do you people think you are manhandling someone's pet like that!! My Sophie is a timid little girl!! She's still out of sorts & hiding from me.. No one had called us for pick them up so I started calling at 1:45 pm. I called 6 times of which 5 times I was hung up on!! We arrived at 3:00 pm & I went to receive my 2 puppies back. After I had put Sophie in the car & was returning with Fiona my husband had noticed Sophie's right eye.(Pictures below) I immediately went back inside & asked what happened to Sophie? I was asked if she had it when she came to hospital.. Of curse not!!! The Gray Haired Nurse being as kind as possible at this time; came out to look at Sophie & took her back inside (to which I couldn't go back) to see what the Vet had to say. "Oh, she burst her Blood Vessel fighting sleep." WHAT!!!!! DO YOU PEOPLE THINK I AM AN IDIOT!? 1st: You gave her iv drugs to knock her out, How did she fight that? Why couldn't someone just be honest & tell me she was anxious & her blood pressure went up or that her blood pressure dropped during surgery or she was dropped!!! YOU DID NOT HAVE TO LIE!! I've already sought Medical Advice for her & some kind of Trauma has happened!! I will never bring another animal or suggest anyone else brings an animal to you all!!! After Frieda died this place should have been shut down!!!!!!~! Customer Business is word of mouth so believe me; If anyone asks about Bryan County Animal Hospital I will tell them to grab their pet & run!!! We took her to an Animal Emergency ER last night because her eye was filling with blood. We were told she had head Trauma!!! She was given a shot of Vitamin K & new medications. I have brought 2 dogs here several years apart. The first time, my dog, Sam, developed a huge lump under his tongue literally overnight. What I didn't tell the vet (bc I hadn't put 2 & 2 together) was that the day before, Sam broke out of the yard & followed me out into the pasture that was tall with all kinds of grass & plants. The next couple days he couldn't eat due to the lump so we brought him in. We had heard good things, even from family members, about this clinic. I brought him in & was told (WITHOUT ONE single test) that he had cancer & to bring him back in 48 hours to put him down. My heart broke! I started crying & only then did the tech/assistant vet (not sure what her position was/ is) offered to give him a steroid and allergy shot just for the heck of it to which I obviously accepted! THE NEXT DAY, Sam's lump was GONE! THESE CLOWNS wanted me to PUT HIM DOWN over ALLERGIES !!!!! WOW!!! The second time I decided to try them out, my 11 year old dog, Mia, had had 2 unexplained seizures out of the blue, a day apart from each other. She had NEVER had ANY health problems at all!! The vet did blood work that came back "pristine," so he put her on a seizure medication and said to come back in a month & they would wean her off of it if she didn't hav any more seizures. She had several more seizures on the medication and I called the clinic REPEATEDLY FOR DAYS and NOT ONE TIME DID THEY ANSWER THE PHONE!!! I ALSO EMAILED THEM. NO REPLY!!!! Since I had taken her here, other vets would not answer my questions about her. She had lost mobility after the first breakthrough seizure. And after the second, she became paralyzed AND I COULD REACH NOBODY AT THIS OFFICE!! Just a couple weeks after her initial appointment, she was paralyzed and we had to put her to sleep :(!! The least these idiots could do was ANSWER THE PHONE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED FUR BABY HERE!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I hope they check my records. Sam's diagnosis on the paperwork was CANCER! They can't change it in their records. I possess the paperwork that proves their diagnosis!!! Shameful!! They are in such a rush that they can't be bothered to treat each animal with dignity they deserve or even answer the freaking phone which is just the BASICS of caring for your patients!! I bring my dogs here i live in pottsboro so its a drive and wait. The only dog i didnt bring here was my tiny chi. She had siezures, heart failure and occasionaly needed oxygen tank. So due to her special care her vet was closer in. Bryan County is great shots, flea meds, dental. My only complaint is no apts. No one answers the phone. I drove from pottsboro today with two dogs for surgery which is dental. Thank God nothing dreadful. But i was there at 8 and turned away. I understand but im only off mondays. The Bonham Texas Vet killed one of my dogs and the vet in Trenton killed another one. I wish i had kn own about Durant before that happened. neither dog had to die when they did. I'm very happy with the vets Tori gets in Durant. I'll take my dog there and not care again about the distance. My cleaning lady's mother took her show dog to Grey Vet services in Trenton (the dog was already there when I found out about it). Grey recommended surgery . Her husband took a call that the vet had nicked an artery and the dog was dead. A worker was in the same room as the dog when she raised her head. The mom picked up the dog and rushed her to an emergency vet in Sherman who saved the dogs life. $9,000 later the dog is fine. The mom also got a call from Grey herself stating that since the dog was not dead she was owed $200 for opening the incision!!! If you love your pet, stay far far away from Greys animal hospital in Trenton, Texas. Dr Gerome in Bonham passed away. I don't know the new vet but the staff still says they are booked and can't take you. If they had told me to come in my dog wouldn't have died. Also, the cost of everything is way less in Durant. I paid $80 for six months of heart worm preventative. It would have been twice that anywhere else. When I go to Durant my dog comes home with me. read more

It's like having a family full of animal professionals!! Everyone and I mean everyone, is friendly and so very caring about you and your pets well being. I felt confident and assured my fur baby was in great hands. The other places charged me incredibly high prices, you'd think I was having a 24k grill made for my Pomeranian!! This place is fantastic!! I live in Denton Texas, but have been coming here for years!! I recently took my cat there because she gets horrible allergies in the summer time. If I would've taken her somewhere near me, they quoted me something like $150 just to get one shot!!!! That's OUTRAGEOUS!!! I took her to Doc Frieda and I was able to get one of her annual shots, 4 take-home allergy shots, and some heart worm medicine for my two dogs for $130!!! Absolutely amazing. So worth the drive, the staff is amazing and it's a clean trustworthy veterinarian. I will stay with this vet forever!! read more

Worst experience in my entire life, I will never be back. I brought my six month Pomeranian in on Saturday at about 11:57 (they close at 12 and I only came because it was an emergency), I was crying and extremely upset and it was an emergent situation where I thought he was dying. We got there and told the lady at the front desk everything that was going on and she yells back for a Vet to come up and the vet comes up and says "No, whatever it is, I'm not doing it" and the lady at the front desk says "can you please see this puppy, its pretty serious" and she throws a pen, and says "you really want me to diagnose a dog at 12" and the lady repeats that it was serious, the vet looks at me (I'm crying and holding my baby) and sighs and says "I don't know what to tell you, I guess you can get in line like everyone else". She was more concerned about me keeping her there late than helping me, she was very rude and had a hateful tone and persona towards me and my dog. So I walked out and went to the Durant Animal Hospital where they treated my puppy immediately and were very kind and attentive to me. read more

Had a VERY BAD experience today. We have 3 dogs & have been a customer for years & was always happy in the past but not today!! Took my dog in 2 weeks ago & was bringing her back in for a follow up visit as I was instructed to do so by the vet & to get more heart medicine for her. The sign out front said surgery only & medication refills only. No staff was outside so I ask one of the other customers if they knew if there was a sign in sheet for medication refills. He said he didn't know he was picking up his dog from surgery. I walked in the side door (with a mask on) typically the door where you pay. I ask the receptionist since they weren't seeing animals today could I get a refill for my dogs heart medication as I was there 2 weeks ago. All of the sudden I believe her name is Mary screamed at me GET OUT!!! I was shocked. I walked out not sure why she screamed at me. There was no sign in sheet outside & no staff outside. I was not trying to cut in front of anyone I just didn't see the sign in sheet that was there 2 weeks ago. I was parked just outside the front door. Customers were standing outside (I'm assuming waiting to pick up their pets from surgery) since none of them had their pets with them. I got in my car to leave. Mary (I think that's her name. Forgive me if I'm wrong. She's tall skinny with curly hair) came outside looked at me in my car, picked up the sign & held it up & shook it at me. She paused like she was about to say b**** but she stopped herself then said I guess you can't you read this sign? I said you don't have to be a hateful b****. She flipped me off. I will never take my dogs back as long as she's there because I feel she would mistreat my dogs the way she acted out. I think the vets there are great. I don't remember his name but it's the owners son who is a vet saw my dog 2 weeks ago & I think he is a wonderful vet. By chance if you or the owner reads please know this person (Mary) is why I won't be coming back. I understand everyone can have a bad day but her actions were beyond a bad day. It was very upsetting because I didn't get a refill for my dog which is very worrisome & I was humiliated in front of all the customers. When I was driving off she turned to the customers & laughed & repeated can she not read the sign? I called back & the receptionist said she was sorry that it happened that they had some changes because the health dept. had shut them down because they had Covid incident & there was confusion. She was very nice & apologized for the way her co worker acted. And the other lady I think she's a volunteer was very rude too - after I was screamed at to get out the volunteer said we will not give any refills if your pet hadn't been seen. I said I was here 2 weeks ago & was told to come back fior a follow up & refill. Since you're not seeing pets today can I get a refill? She just turned & walked away. When I got home & told my husband he called & ask to talk to manager/owner ro tell them the way I was treated. She said she was a volunteer & no he couldn't complain to owner & she would not give the manager: owner the message about their actions & hung up on him. Because we were not allowed to talk to manager or owner we will be posting reviews everywhere in hopes the owner will see how 2 of your staff:volunteer has acted. read more

Only a 1 star because negative was not an option. Brought a doberman puppy in to get her ears clipped. Not even 10 minutes after we left she got the tape off and I was advised the ear was probably to sore to retape that day so to come back 2 days later. Her ears were covered in blood and puss and scabs and she is now at another vet having them completely reclipped and we were informed she should have antibiotics from the original vet. Nothing was ever offered except tylenol for 5 days. Dr Mills at Durant Animal Hospital has done an excellent job at fixing this terrible hack job from Bryan county animal hospital. read more

Great caring folks, good service, reasonable prices. I wouldn't think of taking my pets anywhere else

My first experience with them was last year. My boyfriends dog needed to get a fatty tumor removed from under his armpit that was hindering his movement. Simple surgery. Everything went well, except I asked for a call when he was finished so I could pick him up. No call. We waited until about 4pm and went by to get him. He'd been laying in pee long enough for it to dry on the fresh, open wound. I asked why he was sticky and stank of pee and their response was 'Oh, just use a babywipe". He was rancid. Fast forward to this January, I brought my bloodhound in to take care of her entropion. Simple surgery, everything went fine. Again, i asked for a call when she was done. No call. I also asked for her nails to be cut short. Simple, easy, cut and cauterize. They charged $25 for taking off as much as I can at home. My Bloodhound is great with her nails, she lays down, gives you her foot and goes to sleep. I paid $25 for nothing. A few weeks ago we brought our old lab back into have him put under for a cut and cauterize, and here's why. He's old, he's got a torn CCL and he's arthritic. Our house has wood floors and he *hates* the floors so he tenses up his paw into a claw and walks on his nails. That means he slides all over the floor, falls down, runs into things and is generally scared of walking. The only way to fix this is to cut his nails back so far that he can't reach the ground. Right? I gave them a picture of "show nails". Nice little nubs that are 100% achievable. We dropped him off and since he had to be put under, we figured we'd go ahead and get his dental done. I asked to be called whenever he was done. No call. Big surprise. They took 20 minutes to bring me our dog. When he came back his nails were a fraction of a centimeter shorter. I asked why his nails didn't look like the picture. "Well it'll hurt the dog." That's great. He'll be in pain for a few days but his arthritis wont get worse, he wont blow his other CCL and he might actually be able to walk around the house like a normal dog. This conversation happened not five minutes after they sent home three declawed kittens. They're not worried about the arthritis, behavioral changes and temperament changes and litter box aversion those cats will endure due to having an entire knuckle cut off. No, they're worried about my dog having sore feet for a few days. They don't seem to care that he slides on the floor and hits his jaw on the ground, or that when he actually musters up enough courage to walk to his food bowl that he can't stop and slides into things.... but they'll declaw cats. Fast forward to today. I spoke with someone on the phone about the entropion coming back and my bloodhounds eyes being goopy. I was told they wouldn't charge for it since it was done late January and it didn't help. Great. Awesome. I brought in both dogs since I paid for their nails to be "show short" again. Hell, I'd already paid for their nails twice and got nothing out of it, so I figured I'd hit two birds with one stone. They were going to charge for the entropion again because it's "not their fault. It's your dogs wrinkles." Funny, last place I took her to get it done her eyes stayed great for 3 years. Perhaps you didn't take enough off to make a difference. And again, "You're going to hurt your dog if you cut their nails that short." I'm aware. They'll have sore feet for a few days but at least the old lab will be able to walk without having an anxiety attack (Which, he's on meds for. Surprise.) They also don't seem to think fluoxetine is approved for dogs, when it's been used to treat aggression (that the lab has, likely due to the stress of him trying to figure out how to walk on the ground) since 1996. They've got him on amitriptyline instead, seemingly without knowing that the added side effect is... aggression. "We dont prescribe fluoxetine here because it's not approved for dogs." Clearly, they haven't done their continuing education. Every single time I've gone in the office smells like cat pee. Not just a faint smell, but enough to burn your nose hairs and saturate your clothes. The office is filthy and, to be quite honest, I can't believe they would make people work in that environment, more or less do surgeries on animals there. It's filthy and it's only saving grace is the price--- if they're competent to do enough to do what you ask for. Honestly, it's the most incompetent, disgusting vet clinic I've ever been to. Their prices are attractive, but I'd rather drive down to Plano and pay a little more and know that my animal is in a clean environment, isn't going to be sent home covered in his own pee, that they're up-to-date on medications and procedures and understand that a super short cut nail might hurt the dog for a few days, but it'll save his other CCL from blowing which will cause him MORE pain for the rest of his life. This is a walk in clinic. I've gone to 2 other vet offices and called an additional 2. 2 wouldn't see me as walk in and the one I did see before this one was racking the costs way too high way too quickly. This is an hours drive from me, but after having my dog on a iv for 2 days and misc treatment, my bill was in the 300 to 400$ range. You won't see designer counters and the newest tile flooring here but you will get the same treatment and you won't have a payment plan that will take years to pay off. Excellent service. read more

I brought my dog for a neuter procedure last week and a follow-up visit today. I will not be returning. My two recent experiences with staff have been awful. They are rude and judgemental toward me and my dog, who has a tendency to jump and bark. I have been working with him daily. Beyond this, they are a professional veterinary establishment and I don't owe them any explanation for his behavior. One staff member mentioned that he was a "bad dog" and said that she was going to kick him in the face when she came around the corner and he was startled and barked at her. We arrived at 9:45 this morning and were not seen until nearly 1pm with the explanation that "we are on the list" because they don't schedule appointments. The waiting area is small and for the convenience of others, my dog and I waited outside in the heat. I came inside to use the restroom, get my dog some water, and inquire about our status in line, and the staff member told me that I had to go outside. When we were finally seen, the same staff member told the vet "she obviously can't control him" and as I was comforting my pet, she said "I can't believe you're calling him a good boy". The icing on top of the cake was the lack of communication. I had to bring him back because they didn't put a big enough e-collar on him and he licked the sutures out while I was asleep. The receptionist told me that I would not be charged for the cost of a visit or a larger e-collar. Unfortunately, I was charged for the medicine, visit, and the collar. They didn't give me my charge breakdown until after I had already paid. I took a week off from work to help my dog recover and the doctor was dismissive of my concerns. If you have a dog that has any emotion or reactions, find somewhere else. read more

if there were a negative that is what i would give them. i brought my Mercy in and it was a true emergency. she was bleeding from the mouth due to cancer. i told the idiot receptionist that she was bleeding from the mouth. it was as always, take a number and wait in line! i waited an hour hour and then went in screaming at them for taking so long. she was suffering in the back seat of my truck. then and only then did they come out. she was bleeding out and all they could do was put her down. there was NO EXCUSE for that. if that wasn't bad enough i brought in another dog that was having trouble breathing. i thought she had something stuck in her throat. again, it was take a number and wait in line. i was # 16. (and i got there first thing in the morning) i waited a hour and half. in the meantime she was having to go out with a bullhorn to call out people's names. she even told them they needed to come inside and there was plenty room. not a one came in. i mentioned she needed to go to the next person. but she wouldn't do that. after the 1 1/2 hours i waited listening to my dog having a hard time breathing i screamed at them again. then they took her after asking the others if it was ok! the male told me she was grossly obese which she was not. this was coming from one that was. then the girl tried to shame me that it wasn't an emergency and how they have gun shot wounds come in blah blah blah. she said it was bronchitis. i told her that after what they did to my Mercy i was not going to go through that again. that shut her up for a while and then she said well i was only trying to tell you this was not an emergency. i told her i didn't want to hear it. what ever happened to "if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all?" their services and bed side manners are atrocious to say the least. i will find another vet even if i have to pay more money. unless they change i would never recommend them to anybody if they love their animals. go to one that truly cares even if they have to pay more. read more

This is a great vet office! I have an older dog and needed her teeth cleaned and a mammary cyst removed. Clinics near me in Denton County were going to charge from $900 to $1200! I would have paid it if I'd had no other choice, but jeez louise! That's a lot of money for someone like me! So I checked out Frieda's clinic instead and was blown away when they charged me LESS THAN $200 for something that would have taken a huge chunk of my pay in Denton. For good quality care and affordable prices, this is a great choice. They've been in Durant FOREVER and have a great reputation. read more

i would give negative stars if i could. i will NEVER be going back to this vet. i took a cat of mine that had been hit by a car up to them on a monday, got there 20 min after opening and was #10 in line. when i told them he was hit they proceeded to put him at the bottom of the list instead of making him a priority, considering that even though there was no damage other than him his tail being dead and the way he walked he definitely had some things wrong internally. after nearly 3 hours of waiting and them claiming they called our name WHICH THEY DID NOT.. even after telling them i was parked right in front of the door outside with my windows down because there was too many people. they never once called my name until i went back in and raised hell about them tossing our paper aside. once we finally got in our exam lasted maybe 4 minutes at MOST. all they did was feel on his tail and his hips, then proceeded to tell me "he's sore give him a week". they didn't bother to see how badly his walked and wobbled. everytime i would try and bring up x-rays they continued to use the whole "he's sore" ordeal and interrupt me everytime i had questions about his condition. the entire exam they were more worried about getting him out of the office and getting to the next patient rather than the well being of the pet. we were quickly rushed out, all he was given was a steroid shot to mask his pain. i've gone to this vet for years as a kid with my parents and now as a adult. i've came up here with friends and gotten all of our pet medications from here and have NEVER once had any problems but i can promise you i will not be going again. they used to be really good and caring for the animals while providing affordable treatment but now all they care about is $$$ over quality and care. we ended up having to put my baby to sleep because his whole pelvic region was shattered and his tail was broke at the spinal cord making him unable to use the bathroom on his own even if he ever healed right. read more

do not take your animal here!!!took my 7 month old puppy to get fixed ...wrong size cone so he bit a hole due to itching...took him back in for a full scrotal removal and they wanted to keep him for 2 days...went to get him he was so doped up he could not even walk...tech had to carry him to the car wrapped in a towel because I was told he would quit bleeding in a couple of days...he died 3 1/2 hours later...I saved no money have to pay for a cremation and no longer have my puppy...have tried to call for 2 days and have got either busy signal or voice mail with no way to lave a message read more

I started taking my animals here several years ago. At that time they did a great job. Not true today. I will NEVER take an animal there again. read more

Had to put my best friend of 13 yrs down Saturday. This place was so amazing caring and helpful. They really went way beyond. We didn't have to wait in line or in the waiting room they got right to us and They came out to the car to perform the procedure so we could have some privacy and grieve over our love one. Dr, Frieda is the best Vet in the world. She really loves the anmals and treats them as her own. The people that complain about her does nothing but gripe and complain about everything. If she was not a good vet then why do people come from all round to see her. I know of pople that come from Tulsa and OKC and even from south Texas to see them at the animal clinic.
