The call was completed with the taxi service being PRE-PAID $210 and the assurance of a ride the next morning at 7am. Later that's night I received a call and voicemail informing me that he was unable and unwilling to commit to the request he was again compensated for ahead of time. The abhorrence of the message was chalked full of ignorance, condescending tones, and finished with pompous attitude of ungratefulness due to the simple fact that he assumed he would not be tipped. I'm a firm believer in the idea of doing a job to its fullest and giving it all you've got just because it is; 1st. Your job, 2nd. Generosity, trust, and faith was placed in this company, allowing information to be given over the phone and in turn was intentionally misused and charged $5000.00 on top of the for-mentioned $210. $5210.00 dollars of my friends money was stolen.

Gorge Yellow is basically your option and you take what you can get when you're in a town the size of HR. Fortunately when dealing with Gorge Yellow the response is fairly quick. I called some number I found online and left a message about a ride and someone called me back fairly quickly to schedule a pick up. The ride was short and expensive (no meter - negotiate in advance!) but it got us where we needed to go. On the tail end - late night when we needed a cab back to the hotel - the response was a bit delayed with apologies, but they were able to call me when the cab was outside our restaurant and our ride home was quick and much less expensive. It's a small operation that's not as easy to deal with as say a larger city cab fleet, but it seems to be very reliable and A-OK as an only option for safe transport in Hood River. He even accepted a couple last minutes requests that helped us out a immensely. His cars are very clean, he was professional, knowledgeable of the area, and shared about local spots / facts with us during our rides. His online booking system is convenient and easy to use. It was helpful to have an email and text to confirm our reservation to be sure it went through correctly, especially when I was booking for others. He also responded to text messages in a reasonable timeframe. Highly recommended if you do not have a rental car, or need a safe and smooth ride to PDX or around town. Our driver, Lisa, was completely unprepared and clearly had no idea what she was doing. She didn't even realize that one of the wineries she was supposed to take us to was closed. That alone shows a total lack of planning or professionalism.  Lisa failed to communicate with the wineries ahead of time (which was supposed to be part of her job), and it was obvious she hadn't done any due diligence for our scheduled stops. The entire tour felt like it was being thrown together on the spot, and for the price we paid, that's simply unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone -- not tourists, not locals, not even casual wine drinkers. There are so many great experiences to be had in the Hood River area. He was very helpful in setting up my schedule. After the times were nailed down, I felt confident that he would take care of me. A couple weeks after making my schedule, I needed to change the time: no problem! I was picked up right on time, the driver was very nice, opened my door and took my bags. Told me where I'd be picked up, but I didn't quite know what he was talking about, lol! (the airport is a lot different from the last time I went there.) On the way back, Sam contacted me with a courtesy reminder while I was still in transit. I was very grateful for the reminder as I was totally exhausted. I asked at that time, "if i can get an earlier flight, will that work for you?" he says, "yes." **PLEASE NOTE: Twice I've made a plan and later asked to change it; the second time, my request was last minute. Both times, they were on board with whatever I wanted to do. Upon arrival, Sam gave me instructions on where to meet my driver. He was right there...NO WAITING, no wondering if this was my guy. The gentlemen we had were friendly and took care of all of our luggage. The company has great communication. We were scheduled to be picked up at 4:45am but at around 9pm the night before I started getting nervous that we should leave a few minutes earlier, so I sent them an email asking if we could leave at 4:30am instead, really not expecting anyone to respond in time. They actually emailed me back within 10 minutes and confirmed the earlier pick-up time. Then, our return flight landed at PDX (an unheard of!) 40 minutes early. As soon as we touched down I texted the number to see if there would be any way someone could come pick us up for 40 minutes earlier than planned, again not necessarily expecting a response - especially since it was close to midnight. However, they texted me back instantly that my driver would be in touch with me soon, and sure enough our driver texted me within a few minutes. By the time we grabbed our suitcases off of the conveyor and walked a few minutes to the curb, our driver was already there and waiting despite us being 40 minutes early - and, again, it was close to midnight on a Wednesday. He was attentive and patient, even when I called him multiple times with questions. The manager, Rasheem, met us at baggage claim. Our driver, Zhieco, was professional and friendly. He helped us get our (very heavy) luggage into the hotel. On the other hand, the company I called first did not give me a chance to explain why we needed help at baggage claim. As soon as he heard that, he immediately said he couldn't help me. He threatened to post my phone number online when I wrote him a one-star review. I was shocked. I would've taken it down, regardless, because I don't post bad reviews. So, I was especially glad to talk with Hewar on my second phone call. I highly recommend Elite.
