This cool piece features a guitar picking man and a cool use of colors. We visited Belmont Mansion over Labor Day weekend while I was in Nashville with some of my friends…read morefor a football game. We had a great weekend planned around the game, but we also wanted to get out and see some of Nashville beyond the usual downtown spots. Belmont Mansion ended up being one of my favorite historical stops of the trip. The mansion itself is absolutely beautiful. It was built in the 1850s as the summer home of Joseph and Adelicia Acklen and was one of the largest homes in Nashville before the Civil War. The Italian villa style architecture and the details throughout the property really make it stand out. It is hard to believe you are standing in the middle of modern Nashville when you are looking at a house with this much history. I also really enjoyed learning about the history of the people who lived and worked there and how the property changed over the years. The mansion eventually became part of the educational history that led to what is now Belmont University. Seeing the restored rooms and learning about life during that time period made the visit much more interesting than simply walking around an old building. It was a great change of pace from the football weekend and gave us a chance to slow down and appreciate some of Nashville's history. Going around with my friends and checking out these different landmarks was one of the things that made the trip so memorable. Definitely a five star stop for me. Belmont Mansion is beautiful, full of history, and a really interesting place to visit if you are in Nashville. I am glad we made the time to check it out while we were there.

His name escapes my mind, but he was an older gentleman(I believe a retired teacher) and was so knowledgeable and engaging. Never felt rushed. So much to see and learn. We toured another mansion on our trip but this Belmont tour was far superior!!! A MUST SEE if you love history and interesting stories from the past. They also have a really cute gift shop to visit as well.

But I digress...the Green Hills branch has one of the best book selections in Nashville without going downtown. I can always find a book at this location, and thoroughly enjoy my visits here! The place is vibrant and well maintained (take note Richland Branch!!) and is ideal for browsing the shelves for extended periods of time. They also have a good selection of computers to use, that are never overly crowded unlike some of the other locations. Just a library FYI.... you can request a book online and have it delivered to any location. The library will then call you to let you know it's ready for pick up, so when you visit, just look for your name, pick it up and go! You don't even have to go try to search for it in the shelves! It doesn't get much easier than that. For non readers, they also do the same with DVD's and have a variety of classics that you can't get a redbox or instant stream on Netflix. So what's your excuse? Visit the library and get happy!!

They have done a great job of adapting to COVID-19 precautions! All you have to do is call when you get there and your holds will get safely put into your trunk. The library is also keeping returned materials isolated for 5 days for extra safety so I have no concerns when I get materials. I have about 20 things on hold at any given time and I love to go pick them up!

The shop closed and they were moved to Edgehill in the 1940's when Reverend Zema Hill bought them. They stayed there until 1952 and were moved to their current home, Polar Bear Plaza. I'm keeping it on my list to check out their exhibitions at the next W-H Art Crawl for sure!

It was very small) Cute center courtyard with seating and fire pits. The bed slept well. The room had a kitchenette with built in stove top. Beautiful knife block and dishes. The hotel is located right in the center of the strip of shops and restaurants. A coffee shop with great breakfast is directly across the street. (Frothy Monkey) You do have to pay $40 per night to park in the parking garage However, parking on the street is FREE if you can find a spot. (We had no problem but were there mid week not on a weekend) saved us $80!!
