These new Flatiron Flyer stations are great! Service to Union Station every 15 minutes throughout…read morethe day (via FF1) and to Civic Center Station during rush-hour (FF4) is super convenient. They recently upgraded all the stations along the US-36 corridor with new covered seating and digital schedule displays. This is a huge upgrade from what they had before! There is also a paper map of bus routes with daily schedules available for you to peruse at your leisure. This particular station has plenty of parking no matter when you arrive. There is a pedestrian tunnel under US-36 to an additional parking lot and the westbound gates. Busses generally run on-time, although I have encountered a couple instances when they didn't show up at all. Aside from that, though, this is a great alternative to driving! Pro-Tip: if you have an iPhone (or other smartphone), there are lots of great apps for tracking public transit. My personal favorites are Moovit & Transit. If you frequently use RTD, these are really helpful.

This means you are looking at $10 per person for a round trip. This might make economic sense for 1 person, but if you are a group of 4 or 5 people going out for the evening, you could drive downtown, pay for gas and $10 for parking, and still come out $20 to $30 ahead. Also, you would get downtown faster, not spend as much time cooling your heels at the station (or have to change trains on the weekend), and probably wind up much closer to your intended destination. It is neither convenient nor cost effective for many people.

My transfer to/onto route 5 is where all my problems began and ended. You see the driver of route 5 was scared of my service dog. My mom was also on the bus with me. We were headed to meet my son. The bus driver secured the back of my wheelchair but not the front. My son called to get an ETA on our arrival. I told my son the front of my wheelchair was not secure. He in turn called dispatch and told them. I heard dispatch come over the driver's radio and instructed her to stop secure my wheelchair properly. She did so. While doing this the bus drivers runs her mouth and says I can't you called dispatch and tattled on me. By this time my dog had alerted 2x that I was going to faint. When he alerts he gets up on my lap in my wheelchair with his two front paws and is nose to nose with me. I heard dispatch come over the radio and state I needed to keep my dog in front of me only and that he was out of control because he kept going in the isle. Well in order to do this I had to undo my wheelchair seat belt. My mom had hollered at the bus driver and told her that my dog had alerted 3x that I was going to faint. She was completely ignored and never acknowledged. Well Roman came up beside my wheelchair and nudged my arm up over him. This is the last thing I remember. Next thing I remember was waking up on the floor of the bus with my service dog under me. He did exactly what he was trained to do. He broke my fall. If he wouldn't have done what he is trained to my face would have been splattered all over the floor. See his disobedience is known as Intelligent disobedience because he knew I was going to faint. Well there was a supervisor on scene after I fainted that is the ADA supervisor. I called him 3/29 and had a great conversation with him. About how we can prevent this from happening in the future and expectations. Well unfortunately that was not the end. Someone by the name of Michelle Johnson called me. She claimed to be the boss of the ADA supervisor that I spoke with earlier that day. She informed me my dog was out of control. That he was a threat not only to her drivers but the people on the bus. She stated the driver was lucky that my dog didn't take her face off. She stated that him alerting to the fact that I was going to faint was not a real task. The my service dog was just looking for treats. She also told told me that me fainting on him was luck. Not proper training. This Michelle Johnson informed me I needed to take my dog to ROCKY MOUNTAIN ADA school where he would have proper service dog training. That when done there he would have an official service dog certificate and be trained properly. The end of my conversation with this Michelle Johnson was her telling me that my service is banned from all buses and if I tried to board any bus with him I would be denied access. This women obviously has no idea on ADA LAWS and what intelligent disobedience is when it comes to service animals. She doesn't understand that a service dog doesn't have to be professionally trained and that a service dog registration and certificate are not a thing. You can check this information on ADA.org.

I use the Golden Call-N-Ride on days when the weather does not permit me to ride my roadbike to…read moreschool. I LOVE the new morning bus driver (much better than last semester). He's energetic and peppy in the morning, which makes for a very enjoyable ride to school. The Golden Call-N-Ride is an extention of RTD public transit services. They have a scheduled route, a flex route (runs at certain time intervals), and a call-in service. You must call and reserve a pick-up at least 2 hours in advance. While I have not used the call-in service, I have called to ask them to stop on a flex route stop outside of their flex route hours. The "Golden green bus" is incredibly convenient as it stops at the Colorado School of Mines and the JeffCo Light Rail Station. As a CSM student, I get a discounted bus pass every year which makes for easy commuting. I am very excited that RTD expanded their service out to Golden. I'd like to see light rail service to the airport next (crossing my fingers that it was connect with the W-line with only one transfer!).

In recent weeks, there have been a number of problems, including a 55 minute wait to be picked up one afternoon, a bus that never showed on another afternoon, drivers who have not been trained (to the extent that they don't know the routes or, at times, even how to use their onboard computer/GPS system), and a missed connection at light rail on one morning. As I say, all of these incidents have taken place within recent weeks, and I never had trouble with the previous contractor. I do not fault the drivers. With one exception, the new drivers have all been pleasant, and I don't mind providing directions as needed. I am absolutely dependent on the service and I really need it to work as it used to work. So I have the firsthand experience regarding public transit. Today is my first ride. I rated it as four stars, based on the following highlights (no particular order): + Ample outdoor parking that's CHEAP + Parking pay station collocated with ride ticket vending machine + Rides are cheap...no comparison needed + Train cleanliness appears to be of importance + Timely departure and arrival + Airport service via transfer at Union station - NO restrooms at this particular station, or I missed them Overall great way to travel locally and especially to a Broncos game, like I am tonight.

I also like that you have different entrances and exits instead of just one. Allows for less congestion during rush hours. There is only one train downtown now - the E line. I hope that changes as things open up. Masks are still mandated but most people at this end do not wear one. You can pay for your parking at the machine marked with a 'P'. There are ticket machines which take credit or debit only or a variety. And validation machines for your tickets if you bought a round trip for your ride down. Or you can use their app for an electronic ticket. No restrooms here so prepare accordingly.

Connects the terminals in Denver International Airport. It has three terminals it stops at. These can only be reached by taking this. It only takes a few seconds getting between each. The best part is that it's free. It can often get crowded. It's okay just waiting for the next one. These come every few minutes it seems.
