I'd give this business 10 stars if I could! I needed a new key for my 2012 Kia Sorento. I called the dealership and they were quite expensive. I did a quote request thru yelp where it was submitted to multiple businesses. I received several quotes by text, but my 1st response came via a phone call from 5star. Not only was he the first to reach out to me, he was the most affordable. Within 30 minutes of our phone call, I had a brand new working key, for far less than any of the other quotes that I received. I recently purchased a 2004 Focus off Craigs List and it only came with one key, so I needed to copy it. Erin (owner) replied promptly to my Yelp request on a Saturday afternoon and we talked about my needs. I had previously tried ordering from a kiosk, but the keys didn't fit right. Ace Hardware in downtown Oceanside copies car keys, but didn't have blanks in stock for my car. Batteries Plus wanted "up to $200, PLUS $70 to cut the key PLUS $70 to program it," which seemed excessive. Erin said he could make a key for me same day, and the price he quoted was the same as Ace Hardware. We met outside my house, and he had all of his equipment in his SUV. He looked at my one functioning key and one of the kiosk copies, and tried both of them in the doors, the trunk, and the ignition. He had his key reader try to read my key, but because of how worn it was (and it was probably itself a copy of the manufacturer key), he wasn't able to get a good reading. But using the car's VIN number, he was able to look up the manufacturer's "cut code" and cut a key that was better than the one I had. Usually, there is an extra charge for looking up the cut code, but he waived the charge and also gave me a discount on a spare. For two keys, I paid less than half of what Batteries Plus was going to charge for one. Plus he gave me the tester he had made to check the cut before cutting a chip key, so I also have another spare that operates the doors and trunk, but not the ignition. I'm very pleased with the service, the product, and the price. read more

Erin was awesome. I had a tough job with a 95 Mustang where we had lost the only key. Other locksmiths who were cheaper backed out and did not want to take on this job because it wasnt as simple as getting just a factory code and making a key. Erin was willing to do it and he literally went through 6 boxes of master keys, which were around 500 or so, and it was literally the last side of the last key that worked. He had a great attitude throughout and remained patient. What surprised me the most is that he apologized that it took so long when he had estimated only an hour to do it. I told it was no problem as I appreciated that he kept trying until he got the job done and didnt try to charge me extra for the extra time it took.
