They were extremely professional, stayed aligned with their original quote, were flexible and very helpful if I had any questions regarding the tiling or style. We had what I would consider a HUGE bathroom floor/tile/shower pan/laundry room project, and it was completed in just over 2.5 weeks! The knowledge and professionalism we experienced was amazing! We appreciated all the updates texted to us as well as the constant communication regarding materials, etc. Andrey was great at talking through and advising in certain areas like the design for the shower curb and soap niche. We have hired Andrey (5 star tile) to install porcelain tiles in our restroom (36 sqft) and install the wash basin and toilet back. He was responsive on Yelp and quickly provided an estimate just by looking at some pictures and scheduled us. He has shown up on time as scheduled. On the first day, he did the tiles and on the second day, he started installing the toilet without doing the grouting for the tiles underneath the toilet and his reason was that he doesn't want to come back on another day to install the toilet as grouting needs to be given time to dry and hence he wants to install the toilet first and then do the grouting around the toilet. This is cutting corners just to get the work done and when I questioned, he was pretty upset and started making statements like "you are asking too many questions" with a stern voice. This is when the whole thing went south and he said he will do whatever I say and how I say and started making sarcastic comments. Why would I hire him if I have to say how to do it correctly? Finally, I have asked him to only do the grouting and told him that i will find someone else to install the toilet and washbasin. He was ok with that and left the restroom unfinished. He installed washbasin partially and charged the full amount. If he has to do the work the right way which is grouting first and then installing the toilet and washbasin, he said I have to pay him more. Kind of funny that I have to pay more to do the things the right way. I expect the contractor to explain to me how the work is going to be done and be completely transparent. He insists it is okay to not do the grout for the tiles underneath the toilet and washbasin. If I change the toilet or washbasin in future with different models, lack of grout on the tiles will be visible. I tried explaining why grouting has to be done first and it was all in vain. I will not hire again him for the following reasons. 1) Attitude - I felt he did not treat the customer with respect. I had to literally message him what I wanted even though he was right there in my home as he was not willing to listen or have a conversation. 2) Bad customer service - Makes sarcastic remarks on the customer. 3) Poor craftsmanship - Takes shortcuts to finish the work and does not bother to do the right way. Doing the right way takes more time. 4) Hidden Costs - Did not stick to the initial estimate and demanded more money if the work has to be done correctly. 5) Lack of responsibility- Took the money and left the customer with an unfinished restroom. The washbasin was installed partially but charged the full amount quoted. I had to pay for work not done. Update: What has happened is not a misunderstanding. It is common sense that grouting has to be done first before installing the toilet. As for the other expenses, the contractor had given an estimate without visiting my home and quoted an amount for materials in the estimate and hence i expect the material to be bought by the contractor. He did charged me full amount for half installed wash basin as if it was my mistake. I will still rate this as my worst experience ever. read more

I would highly recommend 5 Star Tile for all your tile projects, Andrey is a true professional and an amazing tile master. We had just completed a kitchen remodel that needed a backsplash and a very challenging bathroom remodel that required a complete floor, wall , and shower tiling. We were very particular to hire someone who truly had the skill to make these rooms look beautiful and we hit a home run with Andrey and his work. The walls of the bathroom were a combination of drywall and plaster and the floors were not perfect and we were not sure we could find someone with the skill to make this project work, so we interviewed multiple contractors and after speaking with Andrey we knew he was our guy. Andrey was the only contractor to explain the steps required to complete this project and educate us on the process. Had a great experience with Andrey and 5 Star Tile. We had a small problem in our shower---the soap dish fell off. I was going to just stick it back on there myself, but we called 5 Star to get a second opinion. Andrey noticed some water damage and an old backing that was no longer standard for water resistance. I have no idea about these things, so we got a second opinion. They confirmed Andrey's initial diagnosis and quoted us a price. But 5 Star was more affordable and much more flexible with work dates. So we went with 5 Star. Glad we did! Our redone shower looks great and, more importantly, is now resistant to water damage! Andrey left our apartment clean and looking like he was never even there---except, of course, for the new shower. Everything was on time and just as promised. Also, Andrey was able (at our request) to retain some of our old fixtures to help keep the costs down. Nothing wrong with them, so why replace them?
