It's like the mecca of Mexican dulces--from Lucas to Duvalin to Pulparindos to Dulces Vero, they have everything you could ever want. They also have locally-made piñatas and catrinas to add to the vibe of whatever party you're throwing. I was there on a random weekday, and it was pretty empty, which made it great to browse and load up my cart with antojitos as I pleased. Just don't go too crazy--you can quickly rack up a pretty large bill!

This place is every little Mexican kids dream and let me tell you, this new generation has it made. Back in the day my Mom used to take me to pick out my piñata at Abarrotera Mercantil. Right across the street from Cook County Jail. Don't get me wrong that store has excellent merch but Dulcelandia is like walking into a gold mine. 99% of the candy sold in Dulcelandia is Mexican candy. Nearly all of it I've never seen or tasted myself. Here is a list of good starters to try when visiting: (these are a few of my fave) Mazapan De La Rosa- crumbly peanut powder that's packed into a round shape. Kranky- chocolate covered cornflakes. Bubbaloo- similar to Gushers but gum with different flavored juice filling. The rest of the list you probably won't like unless you grew up as a kid eating and developing a pallet for. They're all tart and spicy, not sweet: (Personally I'm not a fan) Pelon Pelo Rico Tamarind Chili Push Up Candy- its a spicy candy gel that looks like hair when you squeeze the tube up. Lucas Chili Powder- it looks like a tiny salt container and they come in different flavors: chamoy, acidito, super spicy ect. I would go for the lime flavor. It's sour and tangy. You pour this directly into your mouth. Vero Rebanaditas (watermelon) & Vero Mango Paletas- these are spicy and tart lollipops. Aside from the plethora of candy choices they sell so many kinds of pinatas, decorations, and party favors. They have Yogolandia where you can make your own Yogurt cup and choose your toppings. They have a snack bar that sells elotes, cookies, hot cheetos, nachos, ect. and a seating area. I would inquire about birthday party packages. I'm not sure if they still offer party rooms and all the other amenities. Def a good spot to venture out. Don't forget to bring the kids!
