That was it... i never heard back from Scott again. This led me to look further at his internet site and most of his pics were seemingly on run-down properties in run-down neighborhoods. Over promised, under delivered and overcharged. As Kelly said, it took him 12 hours to install 2 sliding doors ($1200). He complained, 'the step was crooked, the door wasn't the right size, these weren't the doors he was used to...' As he was packing up after being here all day, he told us that when he came back to install the other 4 doors, it wouldn't take as long or be as expensive, plus he had the supplies (that are still in our garage). 8 weeks later, here is the exact text he sent us the day before he was supposed to show up: "Good morning. I will see you between 8:30 and 9:30. I also wanted to give you a heads-up. I meant to message you last week. The price will be somewhat the same as last time, even if it doesn't take as long as last time. I'm taking a huge risk by modifying these doors with the chance of having to buy them if I damage them. This is not a typical job for a handyman." While we thought it was a bit pricey, we wanted it done and had waited 8 weeks for him to show up, so we agreed. What follows is what appears to be his AI generated response: "I fully appreciate the challenges involved, even though it was not a simple task. Previously, I undertook a seemingly impossible endeavor, accepting a significant risk. It demanded considerable effort and proved to be exceedingly difficult. Many individuals would likely have chosen to abandon the project. I am uncertain how many would have been willing to take the risk of dismantling and modifying the door, let alone rebuilding the entrance to your home to ensure the other doors function correctly. These were all substantial risks. I even purchased a $400 tool specifically for today's work. I was also planning a trip to a store to acquire another specialized tool to perfect the job. I have invested more in this project than most would, to provide you with the best possible outcome. Regrettably, I must decline such a substantial undertaking, given the significant risks involved, and the compensation offered does not reflect the level of skill required. My standard fee for mounting a single, standard door ranges from $500 to $800, depending on the complexity of the task. I am, however, customizing your door. I fully understand that if these doors were to malfunction within 30 to 90 days, I would be responsible for replacing them. On his first visit he took the door apart without asking, just bragging that no other handyman could do what he was doing, there was or is no risk. We NEVER said or implied he would be responsible for any damage to these doors. Zach may be OK for smaller jobs but get your quote up front and be prepared to pay a whole lot more.

I hired Jack to completely redo and fix my home in Greeley that was trashed by my renters. He worked on the house for a month and now it looks like a brand new home. He gave me detailed estimates and invoices for all the repairs. His estimates were close to the final invoices. We requested several quotes via Yelp and got a wide range of availabilities and responses back. While some competitors were offering a cheaper bid, they also recommended techniques (spraying) which we felt were riskier to the new flooring. Ken's bid was the most expensive, but his earnestness and professionalism compelled us to go with him. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of Ken and Rob's work. Right when we closed on the home, Ken came in and did prep work that same day. The team spent 4 days covering the entire house in a color of our selection, designed to brighten up the home and make it feel bigger. While Ken made several trips to grab more paint and supplies, we were never charged more than our quoted price. Near the end of the job, Ken offered us painters tape to mark any spots that we wanted him to take another look at. We could tell he took pride in his work and loved what he did. Each time I stopped in to check on them, they were always hard at brush work (listening to quite the selection of music). Ken even pointed out spots that he wanted to personally take care of, even though we never asked for that - he is just that interested in customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend Ken to folks in the future. His price was fair for the quality of work, and he was professional through and through.

He was at my house 2-3 hours and had to go to Home Depot to get some parts. He successfully changed out my garbage disposal and did a great job. We ran out of time with the TV mounting project since a lot of time was spent on reading the instructions and building the hardware, by the time he was ready to mount I had to run off to a meeting. I should have read the instructions and had the hardware assembled prior to...it would have saved me $50! And we would have had time to mount my TV. All in all friendly service, but I would rather pay by the project vs per a 30 min/hourly rate.

I needed to resurface two tub / showers in my 1956 apartment building. Jeff was prompt in generating his estimates, and reasonable in his bids. He was very responsive to my emails and phone calls. He coordinated and scheduled the jobs directly with the tenants, and showed up to perform the work on time. The first project was tiling the shower and replacing much of the plumbing that supplies it. Due to very uneven wall angles, an unleveled existing tub, and several other unanticipated hurdles, the job took Jeff far longer than he'd planned. Yet he did a very professional job of it, never complained, or hinted at increasing the cost of the job due to these surprises and extra work. The tenants were as pleased as I was with their new shower, the quality of Jeff's work, and their entire experience during the upgrade. The second project was installing a fiberglass surround in another apartment. In this case, the materials that I'd purchased were not compatible with my old steel tub. This required a parts run to Lowe's to buy a new surround, and since he didn't have my receipt, a second trip back to Lowe's to meet me there and return the original surround. Of course none of this extra work or time were anticipated when Jeff bid the job, but to my surprise (and to Jeff's credit), he refused my offer to increase the payment for this job due to my error. What's more, since the new surround materials cost less than the original materials he'd planned, Jeff reduced the materials portion of his quote to reflect the difference. It's quite rare these days to find a handyman who merely honors his promises - much less one who does the professional work, and goes to the extraordinary lengths that Jeff Herrera has. He's now certainly at the top of my Rolodex.
