Sells tires that are pretty much on the tread bar. Illegal tires. Wants way too much for used tires. $65 for a used 17in tire. Google 17 in tires. Can get almost brand new for that. This is my second time doing business with these guys! First time was tire replacements. The guy looked for the best deal for me and then installed the tires. I have had no issues with the tires at all. Last night I hit a very deep and abrupt pothole. My tire broke away from the wheel and the wheel was severely bent from the impact. I went on my way to 56th Street Tire this morning, explained what happened, and I knew it was going to be expensive. Once again, I told the gentleman what I had to work with, he did not have a matching wheel and the wheel is no longer in production. The decision was to replace all wheels so they at least match. The gentleman replaced all rims, did the mounting, balancing of each tire, rotated all tires from original order and I drove away happy. They advertise all over the web that they are home of the $18 used tire. They don't answer their phone even though when I show up two people in the office are doing nothing. They go find us a used tire and tell us its $89+ install. huh what happened to the $18? The guy tried to,tell me that the tires start at $18 and go up from there except no where on there website, their CR and offer up ads do they state this. I found a used tire in my size down on steel street for $45 installed. Don't even bother with this place. read more

Negative stars if I could. I posted multiple pictures. But it's only showing 1. Absolutely DO NOT GO TO 56th Street Tires in Tacoma, WA. I have brought 2 vehicles to them and both times one of my wheels have flew off! The first time they apologized and said they fired the worker. I go to them again and they reassured me everything will be fine. Well that certainly was not the case! A few days ago I was driving and my whole tire just flew off right in front of me, my damaging my baby! My dad talked to the owner and the owner told him to tow it Tuesday (today) to their shop because they were going to fix, well that wasn't the case. The owner wasted my dads time, money, and gas. Just to tell him he's not going to fix my car for the damages they caused because they don't know what the hell they are doing! They don't wear masks, they don't know what they are truly doing, and they do not take care of their customers who spend their hard earned money at their establishment. I'm so heartbroken because now I have to pay thousands out of my own pocket to fix my Mercedes Benz Cls 550 bumper, fender, ball joints, and rim rotation thing -don't know what it's called. Was quoted price with tax get there and wanted more. Still a great deal so went with it. Bought 4 all new tires! Took 2+ hours in the hot sun. They turned fan off in office when they went to work outside. Kept stopping on mine to do 1 or 2 tires for others. Then a few days later I wake to a flat! The seal is bad. I take it in and took an hour with wait and to actually do it. Again kept stopping to do other tasks. Then few days later another has a bad seal. I won't even be going back to have it fixed. Staff has ADD the guy flirts with every woman its disgusting! I witnessed 3 in 2.5 hours. I did all I could to not bust him out! This review is a few years old. My husband got a flat on his way to a job training in Tacoma. A tow picked him up and took the car to Les Schwab but they turned him away because they didn't have our type of tires on hand (BMX X5). The tow driver kindly took him to a second spot - 56 Street Tires and said something along the lines of "If they can't help you here, your screwed because I'm not taking you anywhere else" lol Thank goodness 56 Street Tires were able to patch the tire up and the patching job is so good, he's going on day 3 of driving with the patched tire and it's still holding strong. Definitely recommend them for being so accommodating on an emergency visit at the end of their work day. read more

Bottom line this is Not a high class place. If you are looking for a fancy, spacious, car mechanic shop with a luxurious waiting area do not come here. But.. If you are looking for genuinely good people (who may just seem a little ruff around the edges) that give you amazing prices on tires this is the place to go. John was very funny and overall a nice guy. I had to come after work and he was waiting to stay an extra half hour after their closing time just so I could make it that day. There is very little room to wait for your car to be done, so I do not advise bringing a family to get the tires changed. I found an ad on CL offering $39.98 out the door pricing on new tires. They were almost the right size, but not exactly, so I called ahead. The girl who answered the phone confirmed they would honor the same pricing - $39.98 per new tire - and though it did include the installation and balancing, the tax was on top of that. She didn't say how much my out the door total would be, or *what* all taxes would be applied. I drove down there assuming it would be $159.92 + sales tax. I drove a LONG way to get there. When I pulled up, I showed the ad to the guy who approached my car, and told him I'd called ahead and been told that they would honor the price for the slight size variation of my tires. He looked like a mixture between disbelieving and mad, and he left and went inside. He came out a few minutes later and confirmed they would honor the price, but that there was a $9.95 "shop fee" on top, and my out-the-door total was now $190. Then he walked back inside. I calculated with my calculator, and guessing an 8.9% tax (not sure what it is in Tacoma), it still should have only been $184.10. I went inside. His first words when I walked in were "this is the girl you talked to on the phone, and she said she told you about the shop fee." I replied "I heard nothing about a shop fee, only 'tax.'" The guy maintained his half disbelieving/half mad attitude the entire time I was there. They showed me the printout list of what I was paying for. Price per tire, shop fee, sales tax, and "new tire tax." Because of the long drive and the fact that I really needed tires, I went ahead and authorized it, but now my $160 out the door was $190 out the door, and I was none too happy. The original claimed savings was worth the long drive and the gas I spent, but $30 more was nearly enough for another tank of gas. The tires are cheap, chinese tires, which I expected for that price. The labor was fast, because I got there just as someone else was leaving. The pricing pisses me off, because if they really wanted to be honest and upfront, the actual fees should have been disclosed on the phone when I called, not after I'd been driving for hours to get there. And the customer service could be vastly improved. If there are pricing discrepancies, that is between them, and they should not let their anger show through to the customer. The money I saved wasn't worth all the negatives, in my opinion. For $54 more, I could have bought quality tires from a place that was local to me, and I also would not have spent any extra gas to get there. They supposedly offer a one-year limited warranty, but it's only against manufacturer defects (every other tire place I go to offers free flat repairs, etc...), and it's certainly not worth the drive for me to go back there for a repair anyway. I think what I paid for would have been worth it to some had it been disclosed up-front, on the phone, but that was not my experience. I had a tire that popped, went in and they gave me a new one just for it to pop again next day. They said they would give me another for free since it popped for no reason but they didn't. Then when they gave me the new one it had a tear in it that most likely would have popped the next day also. They were hesitant to replace it also because it "wasn't" leaking air. I called this shop to see if they had two new tires in my vehicle's size, as it's always best to change them in pairs. The man I spoke to told me they did, gave me pricing and said no appointment necessary. As I'm signaling to pull up to the very small front parking, one gentleman guided me in. I waited less than 30 minutes for the workers to remove my front tires, balance and mount. While the tires I purchased are not top-of-the-line, they are rated A for tread and traction. My rear tires are of much better quality, yet these inexpensive fronts are much smoother over bumps and road flaws. They do carry the higher end made in USA tires. The gentleman at the front desk exhibited customer service at what a sitting customer referred to as "the tire drive thru." And, the price? Absolutely unbeatable. I took my car to the dealership because my check tire pressure light came on. They said I had a nail in my tire it was in a place that could not be patched. I was informed that I'd need new tires a few months ago but I still had some life left in them. Well with the nail in the tire it was time to replace them. The service department said you need new tires I asked for a price quote they had me sit down and showed me a 70,000 mile tires that would be $780 I said that's not a price I'm looking for they then went back to look at other tires . I got on my phone called Walmart $80 per tire installed plus tax discount tire lowered price $405 for all four tires I was not told if that was taxed too. What I was told was that I could not get it done now because they were booked solid because of the snow. The dealership came back with a quote of $650 for 45,000 mike tires I said that too much put the spare on and put the tire in the trunk. I had an appointment in Tacoma that I could not cancel. It was 4:40 I tried calling the Bridgeport way Walmart about tires they did not answer so I looked on yelp and found this place. They said used tiers would cost I cut him off and said new tires. He quoted me a much more affordable price for 40,000 mile tires, but I have to be there by 5:30. I told my dentist office I needed out before 5:30 after a quote of Nearly $5,000 out of pocket to get one much needed implant. I called this place again they said come on in we have the tires you need. I went to the wrong tire shop at first there's more then one place with a similar name. When I got there the place was busy it was 5:45 but they were taking everyone that showed up. 6 cars at once the music was pumping and the guys were working and happy. I was told the price was cash only if not it would be more. I don't carry cash particularly not that much so they gave me a ride to get the money I was the last car done they put my spare away and filled it with air repacked it in my trunk and guided me out onto the street. While there people that were having their tires fixed or replaced told me this was a great place very very good. My tires were on and the road felt better I spent a lot but not as much as I would have at the dealership less then discount tires probably less then Walmart or at least the same but I got them done right then. I did not even try to call les Schwab or any other place. If you are not rich or are rich but smart and are in need of tires used or new give them a call. Ask for the best price out the door and understand before hand that it's a cash price they quote you. And if you go with them please tip these guys they deserve it. read more

These guys are amazing. Last night they were my hero's! I had to swerve to avoid a wreck in the lane next to me and in doing so, I hit the curb. My rim was bent, my tire started going flat, I really did a number on my car. I was really worried because it was Sunday evening and I didn't even want to think of what a tow would cost me. Then I remembered the work Id had done here on other cars. I headed in their direction and hoped they were open. I was so happy to find them open and busy. Quite honestly, I pulled in expecting to be told I needed a new rim and tire. I wasn't told that at all. My rim was fixable. My car feels absolutely brand new again.
