The food was delicious, and the portions were pretty big. (Photos will be attached). Everything was so good! Pancakes moist not dry & and overly sweet. The chilaquiles were full and very filling. The service was great, our server Chelsy was very nice and attentive. Our food came out quick. The restaurant looks new and is very clean. (Even the restrooms were clean which is a big deal for me) We will definitely be coming back.

The ambience is so warm and inviting. The service was great. Waitress was very attentive I got the veggie omelet and added sausage. Loved the combination, it was very good. It was a huge omelet!!! The avocado slices were a nice add on. It was very and tasty. The side of fruit was plentiful and fresh. Overall a nice neighborhood breakfast spot.

We were so excited to finally try this place! They opened a couple months ago and they're a perfect addition to the neighborhood! Great food for a good price. We got the Berry Mascarpone French Toast & Barbacoa Chilaquiles Skillet and both were amazing! And the portions?! We were so stuffed and had enough for leftovers the next day. It's a spacious room with quick service! To top it off, they serve Intelligentsia coffee so the lattes tasted great! What's funny is, we went a couple weeks ago and then took some family the week after and now I want to go again!

I was really pleased with our breakfast from 5800 North last weekend. I ordered over the phone to pick up and it came up just before I got there. We ordered a skillet, omelet, kids' pancakes (I upgraded to the berry mascarpone ones for an extra $2) and because I was curious got the cinnamon role pancakes even though I knew we wouldn't be able to eat much of them. The omelet was really good. It wasn't all that much different from any other omelet but I appreciated that they had a create your own option (which a lot of places don't, surprisingly) so I could get what I wanted without having to delete or add something from an existing item and hoping they got it right. Thanks! My little one was THRILLED with her pancakes. When I got home and put the bag down she came over and saw them and immediately pulled them out of the bag, and got pretty upset when I pulled them away from her to get her seated. But when she finally got to eat them she gobbled them up, going straight for the fruit. I tasted the mascarpone and it was quite good; I'd consider ordering this dish for myself in the future. And this was a huge item, to the extent that I wondered if they took the order wrong and gave us the regular "adult" portion (but they were smaller silver-dollar pancakes so I think it's just big). The cinnamon roll pancake was as I suspected far too much but we had to give it a taste. It wasn't bad. They make it with something like the frosting from a cinnamon roll (maybe that's exactly what it is) and dusted with cinnamon. It wasn't bad, but I'm not sure it's my thing. Points for creativity and originality! The restaurant is very bright, sparkling, and spacious--you don't feel like you're elbow to elbow with the next table, thankfully. There's even a small parking lot down the block. There's some street parking and it's even directly across from a Pace station (we're in Edison Park, so Pace buses run up here). The first time I visited it wasn't overrun with patrons and there was no wait when I stopped in on Sunday around 11, so I'd be interested to eat in sometime. The second time I visited was to pick up breakfast for Mother's Day, and I ate less than half my omelet because I kept finding eggshells in it. Gross and makes me sick to my stomach, so that was a major miss. I'll be back... probably.

Vibrant new Breakfast spot. Service was wonderful (staff is familiar as they moved over from a different breakfast spot.) Food was delicious and menu is good with a few things I haven't seen before. Expect to wait for a table at busy times. My family will be back.

Went here on a Sunday for breakfast around 10am. They were very busy but there is a church around the corner that must have just let out. We had to wait about 5-10 mins for a table for 3. There is a parking lot there and street parking around the area as well. The servers definitely were hustling covering a lot of tables. Server took our order right away and we didn't see her again until they brought our food. She did come by once to refill water but other than that it was not very attentive. The food itself was good. I enjoyed my chicken and biscuits which came with 2 eggs and hashbrowns. The other two people I was with also enjoyed their meal. Portion sizes were generous and we all left feeling very full.

We were looking for a breakfast place here in Chicago and found this place. There was a line when we got there but the hostess was super sweet and put our name down immediately. The wait wasn't long and the turn around was quick. And the food was definitely worth the wait, our server was very attentive and nice as well. Her name was Ana. The restaurant itself was big and looked very clean. I would definitely come back and recommend this place!

Charming place with the much anticipated opening of this place. This bright cafe with is pretty big with both booths and tables serving both classic and unique food that all can love. The space itself is very modern and updated since it's new. Our meal was far from perfect with would have boasted this review maybe to five stars but all new places take time to work out the kinks. We were seated immediately no reservations, very casual breakfast and lunch spot. The food quality is excellent. I had the corned beef and hash and they make it in house. The upgraded to a signature option for the pancakes and got the cinnamon roll and it was divine the hubs got a bacon and avocado omelette with regular pancakes. My husband's pancakes came out cold which bummed him out. Another issue we had was getting the server to come to us after our food was delivered because we were lacking syrup, ketchup, hot sauces (maybe just keep it on the table). It took her nine minutes from the time our food was dropped to come over to us. Also the silverware only comes with a knife and fork but no spoon to stir the coffee. We got to meet the wonderful Al and he made things right and we intend to try this place again soon and hopefully things will go much smoother next time.

Really enjoyed our brunch at 5800 North Cafe. Service was excellent and Cathy our waitress was very kind, & patient when taking our orders. The food tasted great and the atmosphere is very clean & aesthetically welcoming. We will definitely be back.

I'm pretty sure 5800 North Cafe opened earlier this spring, I know it's definitely newer, newish to the neighborhood. Saturdays are our day for a brunch adventure, and we took the opportunity to see what they're all about. There is plenty of street parking and the building is large and on the corner of the block. I'm unsure if there's a private parking lot, but we found street parking easily. Walking in, the cafe is bright, well lit with natural light, bright colors, and clean modern design and decoration. The hostess was so kind and friendly, and we were sat immediately. The dining room is very large, there are plenty of both booths and tables, across two sections of dining room, as well as a bar in the back. Our server was Kathy and we were helped quickly after being seated. Like many other fast-paced breakfast diners, water was also brought to the table upon being seated. I want to emphasize how genuine and kind Kathy was through breakfast. She had a quick funny story that got us laughing, and service was amazing throughout our meal. The menu is expansive with tons of breakfast and lunch options. We are benedict lovers and gravitated towards that section of the menu. My partner had the Traditional Bennie, which comes with a huge slice of ham off the bone, eggs, and homemade hollandaise. I had the Irish Bennie, which comes with corned beef hash under the poached eggs and hollandaise. Both came with hashbrowns. Food came out quickly and looked amazing. These portion sizes are huge and absolutely felt more than adequate for the price. I will say this is not my favorite corned beef hash in town, BUT is one of the best benedict options locally by far. The hollandaise is so rich and vibrant, and the eggs were textbook perfect. The hashbrowns also one of the best around, they are thin and fried on a flattop for crispy brown edges. Neither of us could quite finish our plates, and we left so full and happy. I'm highly interested in the skillets and the pancakes, and this will definitely be a place we add to our rotation of favorites for breakfast. I hope this spot stays successful. Thank you 5800 North Cafe for a great Saturday morning.

We originally came here on a whim and have since become regular customers -- their breakfast items are amazing and the service is top notch. Sandy is our favorite waitress! She's attentive, super cute, and remembers prior orders. Definitely a must if you live in the area.

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile. We finally had the time and are happy we did! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table because it was super busy. Once seated we got our water right away. Our waitress signaled to us that she'd be right over. It was over 5 minutes before she came to the table. We ordered right away. It was probably another 20-25 minutes before our food came. Our food did not disappoint. I had the veggie omelette and it had fresh veggies and was very good! My husband ordered the meat lovers skillet and the portions were so large he couldn't finish- which doesn't happen often. One thing disappointing is that he had toast that came with the skillet. Our waitress said she would get it, however she forgot. He was done eating before she came back to our table and when we reminded her she apologized and went to get the toast. Overall good food and I'll definitely give it another try!

I came to this cafe for breakfast with my boyfriend. It was our first time going and I loved the interior! It was such a perfect place for a rainy day. I ordered a strawberry smoothie, which our waitress Sandy said was delicious. She definitely did not lie! I would return just to drink it again. Our French toast and sides were great as well. The service was phenomenal, I will definitely come back. Shout out to our waitress Sandy!

My fiancé and I stopped in as soon as they opened to grab some fuel for our roadtrip out of town. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door, bright and early at 6:30am. The baristas were super friendly. The atmosphere is nice and bright. Light wood tones and soft colors. Cute merch, too. The baked goods counter looked divine and wanted to purchase everything, but I stuck with a slice of banana bread. SOOOO GOOD. It was fresh, moist, and had the right balance of flavor between the banana and chocolate chips. Sometimes it gets too chocolatey, but the banana flavor was first and foremost. We ordered a drip coffee and a large iced vanilla latte with an extra shot. The drip coffee was fresh and hot with a nice flavor profile. The espresso used in the latte was fresh, bright, and slightly nutty. They have a La Marzocco, and you can usually expect pretty good espresso from those machines. I believe the vanilla was house-made, so bonus points for that. All things that I personally love in a latte! There was also a parking lot, so we didn't have to worry about street parking. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town! 10/10 recommend.

The egg type was not clarified on the menu, but I feel like for a breakfast sandwich to include a boiled egg instead of a traditional fried or scrambled egg, that should be disclosed to customers with some sort of expectations. My friend said the cappuccino was "just like every other cappuccino I've ever had." The lavender matcha really just tasted like a regular matcha. It was good but not much lavender flavor! Our food also took a bit to come out, despite the coffee shop being empty (only one other person already dining when we came in) and what we ordered. It looked like there were only two workers. Evidently they have only been open a few weeks and are located directly across the street from the Guatemalan Embassy on Elston Avenue. For clarification it's not really a restaurant as much as a place where Guatemalan foods are served and by that I mean there is no food prep area. The food is prepared offsite and people can come in and select from plastic bins sitting on the counter. They have limited hours M-F 9am - 3pm (same hours as the Guatemalan Embassy across the street). As I'm told there is no set menu so what they have today may not be available tomorrow. They use to have a space in the embassy building, but moved across the street recently into what is now Cafe Antigua. The woman working there saw me peering in the door and signaled for me to come inside. Ok twist my arm. Inside they have a few small tables and a counter w/plastic containers w/the food items that are available. I asked for a chili relleno and a tamarind soda. The chili relleno came w/a red sauce, cilantro, spicy red sauce (not really that spicy) & a queso type cheese. You had the option of eating it on tortilla or in a bun. I chose the tortillas. After eating the chili relleno I was still hungry so I tried a tamale (which she gave to me free of charge). The chili relleno was pretty good, but nothing outstanding that would make me want to rush back for. The tamale was meh nothing to write home about.
