We come here either once or twice a week and love it! The steaks are amazing and we always have great service.

Not sure ab the fries but over seasoned not crispy and cut very different in not a good way. Cole slaw was good. $16 salad was nice but $16 with no protein. GARLIC knot rolls stale. The menu is very different from PORT OCONNER location. looked forward all week to visit and was very disappointed. Both of us left w/o eating even 2/3 of it. Doubtful we wIll try it again. read more

Just tried the newly opened location in Port Lavaca. The pimento cheese spread is good. We did not care for the complimentary garlic knots, they were stale and cold. We ordered a shrimp Poboy to share. We actually tasted the spicy dressing on the side and it was similar to a seafood dip we make in Louisiana when we eat boiled seafood, and was good. We could tell immediately when the sandwich came that you used frozen shrimp. What a disappointment! You can see the beautiful bay from the restaurant and you know the Gulf of America is just beyond the bay and you are serving pre packaged frozen shrimp!! We tried the coleslaw and was disappointed with a bitter taste and it was served warm. Coleslaw sometimes has a sweetness and should be served cooler. We sent it back without eating it. We went to Port O'Connor for the first Time yesterday and saw the 5D Steakhouse was there, our original plan was to go to Yorktown the following day for my 60th birthday but decided let's do it today. The place was very nice and the staff there were very friendly people, let me get to the food part, I'm not a cheap person by any means and always buy what I want regardless of the menu prices, I believe the prices are too steep compared to other places I would go, you will have to see for yourself to believe it. I will tell you the Margarita was the best part!!! I wasn't impressed with the food, after I ate the burger I told my wife I would rather have a double from whataburger, yes it's true! If you are going to spend $33 plus on a steak you might want to go somewhere else to feel like your money was well spent. When you go take cash because they charge a three percent tax when using your credit card, I found that unusual because the establishment is not hurting for money. I gave 5D Steakhouse three stars because of the staff and Margarita. JUST BEING HONEST. read more

Sadly, this location was definitely not a revisit. As someone with local family, I was excited to finally try out this restaurant, but was sorely disappointed. The general ambiance was less than desirable, wasn't an extraordinarily inviting atmosphere. The live band was good the night we came in. I will note, for a friday evening in the summer time, this business was extremely lack luster. Very few people were present besides the band. Food came out relatively quickly, but we were dissatisfied with that as well. The house salad my mother received had egg shell in it, and all of the dishes had an excessive amount of pepper present. It was odd just how much pepper there was, it was clearly being used in place of other seasonings, but led to mac n cheese and green beans being less than tasty. Overall the food was pretty bland, nothing exciting. Likely would not suggest or revisit, if you're visiting locally, I'd suggest Sharkies just down the road. read more

We have been here several times since Covid. The service has always been an issue, but we were understanding, given they seemed to be very understaffed for the large crowds. We went last night and there were very few tables of patrons and more than enough servers. Several times we had to flag down another server to ask is they could let our server know we needed something (refills, plates, drinks we had ordered quite a while back, items missing from our order, etc.). The pros: Frozen Jack and coke was awesome. Chicken tenders were good. Loaded baked potatoes were very good. Fried okra was good. Chicken fried chicken was a huge portion and done well. The cons: Hamburger steak was ordered med rare and came out very well done. Patty melt was ordered med rare and was well done and very dry. The quail breast in the appetizer was very dry. read more

Large restaurant, great for a big group or even just two! My boyfriend and I did sit at the bar, the barmaids were nice and tentative! Had the Classic Burger for dinner, it was definitely good! Ok, for the location this place was awesome! Literally NOTHING better anywhere close by. The setup is clean, casual but upscale for small town, and they have a huge entertainment area outside where they have bands come in for live music! Daily drink specials and great food with a cool atmosphere-please, sign me up!! We got $2 margaritas to start (Monday special-which goes all day long I might add!) as well as the fried pickles, which were crisped to perfection and a hefty size served. The house salads are loaded with boiled ahh, tomatoes, croutons, and cheese with dressing on the side (so yummy), the fried chicken and grilled chicken is moist and delicious, Mac n cheese so creamy and cheesy (not fake chalky cheese like a lot of restaurants), and the stuffed flounder was legit (a bunch of crab meat on top of the buttery fish on a bed of rice-melt in your mouth goodness). We had a sweet server and she was good until right at the end it took a long time to get our bill. Not taking away a star for a busy server getting tied up for a few minutes though. I wish there was a minus! This place has the worst service ever. We went in last Friday night and decided to eat at the bar. We waited for at least 15 minutes and had to wave the rude waitress/ bartender (Yessa) down. Asked her if we could get some drinks and a menu. She told us that if we didn't like her service we could go wait for a table. Needless to say we never ordered food and couldn't get another drink till another waitress came. I don't even know how this place stays in business! From what we heard from others is that it's always like that. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

5 D Steakhouse. Highly recommend. Ok my report on this restaurant. Excellent. From the time we walked in with a warm welcome to a wonderful waitress. Her name was Cammie. We were seated promptly and waitress was there within 2 minutes. She took our drink orders I had a mango margarita and he had tea(he's driving). For appetizer we had spinach,artichoke and crab dip. Each came with in a very reasonable time. For entree I had medium rare sirloin and Jimmy had chicken fried steak. For sides I had baked potato and okra. Bobby had mac and cheese and baked potato. ( I always get onto him for having 2 starches. Lol) Our meal came out within 15 minutes. The sirloin was a very nice size. She had me cut my steak to make sure. It was cooked to perfection. Love all the juices itt had. Jimmy liked his and it was a good size. All in all we were very pleased and will return. It is very nice inside. Loved all the huge fish. We highly recommend. read more

This place is a hard review. I have been here several times and the food has been good except for dry chicken on my wife's entree once. Maybe the whole don't order chicken or fish in a steak place applies!? Anyway the place is new and clean and decorated well. They are always doing concerts and special events which is great for the local scene. Love the atmosphere. But I do have to agree that the service is lacking. So I can recommend 5D if you have patience or not in a hurry. I generally sit at the bar so I can flag the wait staff down. But shouldn't have to. read more

If a restaurant/venue hosts and advertises an event, management should be on site to make sure the staff is equipped. We were looking forward to attending the dueling pianos at 5D in Port O'Connor on 3/8. The servers/staff didn't have what they needed to provide adequate service. We were told the manager was not on site but there was an assistant who walked off when I asked to speak with them. We waited for 30 minutes before our waitress even asked for our first drink order. We waited another 40 minutes for wings and over an hour for our meal. We're locals, wanting to support our local businesses but we will NOT be attending another event there. Sadly! If an establishment hosts an event, an ADULT manager needs to be on site! Ridiculous! read more

Here in Kerrville we have been eagerly awaiting the long delayed opening of a serious new restaurant, and of course the usual little annoyances can happen in the first month or so. I have already seen two errors one serious and one not. The minor mistake is the fact that it is not possible to see the menu, either online or posted on the front of the building. Those of us who like to anticipate our meals would like to plan what we eat. 'Nuff said On a far more substantial complaint, I walked up to the front door today, and only one sign greeted me ---- to paraphrase the one lonely sign said over and over "No firearms of any kind are allowed on the premises" Now you claim to like and understand Kerrville, but this show of ignorance says you don't understand this town at all. (or Texas law) There is not another establishment in town that prohibits self defense, and we appreciate that an "Armed Society is a Polite Society". There is no rational bassis for denying people their rights, and you have just alienated a number of potential guests, myself among them. Looks like that Steak Oscar will have to wait for the Enlightenment. as long as that takes. Until then.......... read more

Good spot to eat close to the boat ramp. It will be nice to take our kids since they have an outdoor play area. We enjoyed our dinner. The only request I have is that the chips need to be a little higher quality for the salsa. Our waitress was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the menu and my gluten allergy. Second time and the food is still horrible- I will not be back for the third strike. To me the manager doesn't care. I ordered a cheeseburger medium rare with no onions. I got a hamburger with no cheese and onion rings. Waitress double check the order and it entered correctly. No apology from the manager and they came and said sorry. Family ate here in early June and it was amazing! We come from the restaurant/chef world and would recommend this place. The grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, steak & fried chicken sandwich were spot on and very tasty. For sides we had fries, house salad (done right!), mac and cheese, fried okra & grilled asparagus (soo good). I'm giving three but it should be 2.5 stars. We stopped by on a Friday night. Place is clean, big, and the atmosphere is nice on the inside. Overall service was fine. He was a bit slow but they were busy so really no complaints there. Food was definitely not good though. We started off with crawfish tails that were alright. I got shrimp tacos and my husband got fried shrimp to share with my daughter. They were both horrible. Tacos were just overloaded with sauce and cheese and the shrimp literally had no flavor or color. I only ate one of the four. My husbands fried shrimp weren't as bad but the batter was super salty and he barely ate any. The waiter kept asking if we wanted to go boxes and sadly we didn't. I never leave food at restaurants so that says something. Oh and I got a Mexican martini that wasn't good either. We did get a side salad that was fine. The upside to this place is the outside because they have a great playground. We went out there after and my daughter loved it. The next night my daughter asked to go back. We were willing to give it another shot so we did. We sat outside so my daughter could play. We started off with the boudin balls and they were fine. Next we got a burger and a steak. The burger was fine. I ordered the steak medium and received it very well done. The flavor was alright but way over cooked. Again the side salad was good. This night the service was horrible. My husband had to track her down to get another beer and she brought out the wrong one. I would return but only for the playground and outside atmosphere. The band they had was good and the place does have a good set up. As far as eating I'd probably only get an appetizer and drinks. Ordered the 16oz ribeye, it was terrible. 1/2 was inedible fat, and baked potato was very undercooked. They had the door to outside open, which I understood, but with the cold air blowing in it made our food cold almost immediately. They do have a very nice outdoor area. What an amazing surprise we got after coming to Port O'Conner to try out a restaurant that was closed on a Tuesday at lunch so we ended up here at 5D Steakhouse. Our waitress Tamera was awesome and very prompt to take our order and tend to all our needs. We started with drinks, I had a huge Long Island Iced Tea and my wife had Peach on a Beach. Then fried mushrooms. For the main course I had fried Shrimp with corn on the cob and grilled asparagus, my wife had bacon wrapped shrimp on a skewer with a sweet potato and salad. We finished off the meal sharing a piece of cheesecake drizzled with caramel. The portions were large enough that we carried out enough for our dinner tonight. We went there on Thursday night and our server was good but they had no help in the kitchen. It took 1 hour and 28 minutes to get shrimp tacos and they were terrible. I don't think they were fully cooked and the shrimp were literally sliced in half. One shrimp per taco and I still did not get all the food ordered.
