We picked up the food. And it was awful. Slaw tested like it is about to spoil. Fried oysters were mushy. Fried shrimp was OK. Crawfish etrouffe had too much cream. Didn't finish more than half the food even though we were hungry. Should have gone to a FF place. Even pick up service was not friendly. Middle of the pack seafood restaurant in Port Lavaca TX. Food was okay to good. Price in line with quality & portion size. Staff was pretty distant, obviously not interested in connecting with the customers, though they did okay about getting orders in & food brought out to the tables. Food seems to be made up when ordered, not sitting under heat lamps, as the breading was crispy crunchy and the shrimp were piping hot. As has been typical on this trip to the Gulf coast, most if not all fish dishes are fried, which is not peculiar to this eatery. Friendly attentive waitress. Ordered the grilled flounder. Came with the baked potato, and sautéd veggies. Baked potato was good nothing special tasted like a potato. Grilled flounder was overcooked, dry and shriveled up. Needed the tarter and cocktail sauce to eat it. Sautéd vegetables were the star of this plate. Broccoli was crisp and delicious. Others at my table enjoyed the grilled shrimp and Mexico style shrimp cocktail. They said the scallops were tasteless, overcooked and dry. Beer and wine were cold and refreshing. If distancing and masking were enforced this would be a higher star rating, for sure. Unfortunately, one side of the restaurant was closed off, one open, and no distancing between tables at all, or masks on staff members. Having said that, if you are in the area, order to go and enjoy the best fried oysters you'll ever have. Seriously, perfect. They flour dredge instead of cornmeal, which is my favorite, and what a light, perfect fry! The shrimp was very VERY good, but the oysters are where it's at. (I "like" fried oysters once in a while but don't love them. I LOVED these. They tasted as fresh as fresh-shucked oysters, light, and just tasted like the sea.) The tartar sauce was my fave, with a spice I couldn't name... It was better than the cocktail sauce, which is always my favorite. Oh, battered fries were great. We went for dinner as it was highly recommended. It was an odd experience. Our sever although he was good he was all over the place being the only one. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with rice and was disappointed, too rich when it came to dough, between the breading and the crab they were too dry. We also ordered fried calamari and they were very chewy. We also ordered shrimp and scallops, which were ok. Maybe I just ordered the wrong meal. Horrible exterior (renovated Pizza Hut?), dingy interior. Tv worked, but alas, no sound of it or music. I really wonder how anyone running a restaurant ignores the sound. Are they all deaf? Unlikely, but possibly. Party of 5, ordered the seafood special: red fish with a few scallops and oysters, side of vegs and rice. Good seafood is expected along the shoreline, and this was no exception, but I'm always amazed when it costs as much as it would have in Denver: about $20 pp! Again, this seems standard. Look, if your best recommendation is A) a side item or B) not SEAFOOD at a seafood restaurant....leave! It's my birthday today so we decided to drive from the Austin area to esplore Magnolia Beach for the first time. Naturally, on our way home, we had to find a seafood restaurant. Y'all - this will be our new spot. The atmosphere ("Q" was our waiter) was amazing. We went right in the middle of a busy lunch day but no matter what, our drinks were refilled, Q kept us laughing, our food came out in a very timely matter, and THE FOOD WAS ON POINT!!!! Seriously. I have been here twice for dinner. First I had the grilled scallops with dirty rice and sautéed vegetables. There were 12 scallops and they were huge! I am not usually a rice person but the dirty rice was pretty good! The veggies had good flavor too. The second time I had the grilled stuffed flounder. It was recommended to me by a friend and it didn't disappoint! It was amazing! I love scallops but I would recommend the stuffed flounder over them! Came here based on past reviews and the wife wanted seafood.. We should have just went to Bubba's in Seadrift or Clark's in Port O'Connor. Wife had Fried Shrimp and I had Fried Stuffed Shrimp The shrimp, by themselves, were actually pretty good. To be blunt, everything else sucked. We should have walked in, surveyed the place and walked back out. But once we were seated, we decided to give it a go, and boy were we sorry. It seems to be owned and run by an Asian family, so there are a few Asian offerings in addition to the normal seafood. Some of the decor is also Asian. I naively thought there would be a clear separation between the "bubba" seafood and Asian fare. I guess I was wrong. First of all, the prices were $12+ a plate - and the Valentine's specials were running close to $20 per person - pretty pricey for stuff served in plastic glasses and on plastic plates on dirty tables. Yes. Dirty tables. Not much about the place was clean, and they never asked us how our food was. The tea I ordered was dark and stale. The sauteed onion, bell pepper and broccoli that our grilled catfish was served on tasted like it came straight from a greasy wok in a cheep Chinese food restaurant. The cole slaw tasted rotten, and the grilled catfish was fishy and dry. We tried to cover it up with tartar sauce, but even the tartar sauce tasted bad. My advice: Stay away! Far away! read more

I had a 12 piece fried shrimp plate with hush puppies and Coke slaw. The shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. Loved the hush puppies and slaw. My husband had a 3 fillet fried catfish plate.
