The communication with Sensei before and during our trip was terrible and pretty much non-existent. We stay at Four Seasons resorts often and never have I had an issue with communication like Sensei. The massage tables had cheap sheets that were scratchy; not what I would expect for a $700 massage. The room temperature never got below 70. The miso cod at the restaurant was extremely fishy tasting and not fresh. Pretty disappointing for such a pricy place.

First time in Lana'i and I'm happy we decided to stay at Sensei between the two Four Seasons…read moreoptions as we needed some quiet mid-year R&R. We ended up staying in the Kaiholena Suite, and loved the balcony, bathrooms and living room with the games, very large screen TV, and comfy sitting areas for working and relaxing. I really liked the beautiful chess set which we made use of. The Sensei team was amazingly attentive, addressing all of our needs, and making us feel completely welcomed. Everyone from the front desk, masseuses, transportation, restaurant staff and everyone in between, we greatly appreciated their kindness and service. Special thanks to Elliott who assisted us with a minor thermostat issue in our room which was resolved without issue. Sensei by Nobu was a wonderful dinner with a relaxing ambiance and delicious entrees and desserts. We opted for a custom massage, snorkeling, and some hale time, well worth booking ahead of time, thanks to the wonderful Sensei experience team. Everything was seamless, from the transportation from Lana'i air to the resort, transportation to the snorkeling experience from the lobby, shuttle service to the other resort for dinner, to checking out and departing at the end of our stay. We loved the library and spent some time playing billiards and shuffle board. Some favorite things about Sensei vs the Four Seasons beach resort (based on my observations: -Slower pace overall -Mostly adults, no kids under 16 -Feels geared more towards relaxation and wellness experiences -Still have access to the beach resort via the shuttle that runs every hour -Feels more like a tropical hidden getaway Pros: Exceptional staff, gorgeous well kept garden and grounds, delicious restaurants and food options, beautiful suite, and seamless transportation. Cons: Having to leave.

As promised, he found an octopus and put on a show with it (humanely, of course). We saw tons of tropical fish too. The scooters themselves are an absolute blast. They're the most fun thing I've ever done in the water. This is our second time doing an e-scooter tour and we highly recommend this place. We had plenty of time to scoot around on our own in pairs, too.

If you only do one thing on the ocean in Maui, do the Zephyr kayak + snorkeling "whale watch"…read moretour!! We've been to other snorkeling in Maui, and this was the BEST experience ever. We were swimming with SO. MANY. TURTLES. (Apparently if you go in the winter season, you'd see a lot of whales!)! I know there are other "turtle town spots around the island, and we've been to a "turtle town". But the sheer amount of turtles you will see here is unparalleled. Our guides Derek and Robbie were awesome: 1. They took so many photos of us - diving under waters to capture the turtles and us, took 200+ photos and 40 videos and was constantly in the water looking out for turtles. 2. They are also such great swimmers and made me feel at ease given that I'm fairly new to snorkeling. At some point I lost one of my fins and started panicking, but Derek swiftly recovered the lost fin! We also capsized at some point, but with Robbie's calm instructions, we quickly made it back to the kayak. Whew! 3. We also heard several interesting stories and facts about the history of the islands around. Overall, this is absolutely a can-not-miss tour in Maui and we can't wait to be back for the whale season!
