I found a car on the web (www.import1motorsport.com) I talked with Rob Winn the owner of Import 1 Motor Sports on the phone at least 3 times before I made the trek up to the shop. When I arrived the C5 Corvette was sitting there in all her glory. Not only was the car clean, it had 40K miles on her and spotless! We went over the car from front to back, from top to bottom. Then Rob Winn threw me the keys and out we went on an extended test drive. Everything the man told me was fact. In addition, there were many questions that Rob was happy to answer. I have been looking for a C5 for 2 years now because 1) they were the last edition that had pop-up headlights, 2) Chevy had all the bugs out of the C5. So, after doing my due diligence I purchased the car. I asked him to ensure the vehicle had two key FOBs and an original owner's manual. Like an adolescence boy on Christmas morning I drove up to pick her up. I Rob Winn (the Owner) had her on display out front all shined up with Two key fobs, original owner's manual, cargo net and ready to go as we walked in. With all the paperwork complete, the bill paid in full, The Rob Winn took the time to go over many facets of the car. We took the top off; I got in and drove the 60 miles to LBI, NJ down the back roads of PA and NJ. Driving with the top off, sun shining and Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever playing loud. I think I had a smile from ear to ear. So now "Silver" (After the Lone Ranger's horse) sits in the driveway waiting for me to drive her. I found the experience with Imort1 Motor Sports excellent. I'm not expecting a red-carpet experience, but I do expect basic professionalism when I'm asking normal questions about condition, history, and what's been done to the car. Instead, a lot of it felt like I was being sized up or "managed" rather than helped. Rob came across more defensive than customer-focused, and it made the whole thing feel unnecessarily tense. When you're shopping enthusiast cars, the details matter. Buyers ask detail-oriented questions because they're trying to make a serious decision, not because they're trying to waste anyone's time. Here, it felt like the attitude was "take it or leave it," and that's fine, but it's not the kind of place I'd want to spend real money. They may have interesting inventory, and I'm sure some people like that style. I didn't. If you go, be direct about what you want to see and what answers you need, and pay attention to how you're treated when you ask basic questions. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend the dealership.
