I wasn't disappointed but kinda surprised since it was not noted in the menu. It made for a much smaller piece of chicken than I've had on similar sandwiches. Overall flavor was good just felt kinda mislead. Had the house chips for a side and was disappointed in them. Ordered the buffalo cauliflower and it just seemed like something from a restaurant supply and not freshly made in house. read more

Got pork quesadila instead of ordered chicken and frozen not fully cooked fries instead of chips and salsa. Waiter never returned so just ate. It's fine for what it is. Beer selection features local craft beer, nationally distributed "craft" beers (owned by multinationals), and mega beer swill. Most of the bartenders had "the Rachel" peroxide do, and we're nice and efficient enough. Food was fine (I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, which was wasn't very hot or tasty, but good enough). I'm just passing through. Will I stop here again? Probably not. What a fantastic place! The food is amazing - great Cuban, ginger soy slaw and dessert pretzels. Tons of beer options, full bar and wines. My only complaint was the staff - they were inattentive- we had to constantly flag one down for anything and we sat at the bar- and not all that friendly.... This place totally sucked. My fiancé and I were staying in a cabin about 20 minutes south of Marion and decided to drive into town for a couple beers and some food. First off, the beer was served barely below room temperature which is always a problem for me. My 2nd beer I requested a chilled glass, which they did have. We ordered a side of roasted corn salsa and chips to start. The salsa had clearly just been blasted in the microwave and the chips came out of a bag. Totally dry and under seasoned. We then reluctantly ordered food instead of making an audible and heading to the bbq joint across the street. I knew better but my fiancé is in control of my decisions so we stayed and ordered food. I got the Patty melt and my lady darling ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. We both got the waffle sweet potato fries as a side. My patty melt was passable, but the Nashville chicken was absolutely pitiful. It was served cold and tasted like it was just given a vinegar bath before being slopped on a bun. She only took a couple bites, then I had a bite. It was one of the worst things I've ever tasted from a restaurant. The server noticed there was only a couple bites taken out and asked if everything was alright. I explained the issue and was told "sorry about that". Stopped to watch the championship game. Menu was different then what we expected. Different cheeses,sauces etc. we ordered steak nachos and soft pretzels with beer cheese sauce. Both were very good. I was very disappointed! I stepped up to the bar, the bar tenders were cussing at each other and ignoring the fact that I had just sat down. It took 15 minutes to just order a drink and get a menu. Then it took another 15 minutes to get chips and salsa. As you can tell from the photo, the chips were over fried and greasy, and salsa had a weird taste to it. Great Service! Never felt rushed and the food was great - I had the Philly Cheese Steak Flatbread and would definitely have it again - tender steak and fresh grilled peppers on top. Fun atmosphere - my girlfriend and I seemed like one of the younger couples there but we sure weren't treated any different. Watched Texas Tech make it to the Final 4 - and we could watch hockey or baseball as well. Went to 618 after an insulting wait at 17th Street BBQ which is right across the street. If you think good service is just as important as good food, then go to 618 Taphouse. Great variety of selection of tasty food! What was impressive to me was the attentiveness of the service staff. We had two different servers come by and ask if we had been waited on. At one point a managerial person came by to check on us during our meal. Really enjoyed the experience!! read more

My husband and I met a friend there last night. We stayed and visited for hours! Beer was great and loaded fries were fabulous. Fried pickles were ok and the pretzels were good but cheese stave was just ok. Service was absolutely fantastic as we stayed longer and ordered sandwiches that were delicious. Overall, the staff was good. Didn't get any drinks on my visit, was mostly wanting to try the food. But unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the food. The appetizer was pretty good. We got pretzels with beer cheese, they were great! For our entrees we got the 618 Mac & Cheese and I have to say it was hot, but it wasn't good. The cheese sauce was filled with salt. The local Holiday Inn Express recommended this local spot for a light dinner and craft beers. They were spot on! Our server brought multiple beer samples for my husband to try and he landed on the Spiteful Burning Bridges Vanilla Brown Ale out if Chicago - it was SO drinkable and balanced. I got the last pint of Schlafly Oktoberfest before the keg blew, which kicked off my Oktoberfest season well! When it opened in 2018, 618 Taphouse became an instant hit. I have been here several times and it is without a doubt my favorite hang out spot in Marion. Its location is great, beer selection is plentiful, and the the food is slightly overpriced for the volume. I absolutely love the Nashville Chicken sandwich ($12) paired with the Heavy Riff Love Gun ($4.60). The interior is just big enough for the space, but I would actively avoid the booths because they are very uncomfortable. They have an outdoor patio that is nice in the warmer months, however there is no table service if you sit outside. Service here can be very hit or miss and you have to flag staff down if you want something. They definitely need to work on attentiveness. Other than that I have never had a bad time here. There are a couple large TVs with sporting events on, but I would not call this a sports bar. I recommend going here if you are in town, especially given its proximity to several hotels. read more

We just had lunch for the first time at 618 Taphouse and don't understand the negativity in the other reviews. Yes, the beer selection is much bigger than the food selection. How many choices do you really need? We started with the pretzels and beer cheese- best we've ever had! My husband had the Cuban, which he loved and I had the Southwest steak salad- delicious! We had a flight of 4 beers. I love that they had beers from our local breweries back home. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back! read more

Horrible service every time you go. It's a beautiful place and a great idea but the service is never on point. If you want a drink that's fine but do not plan to eat here and be satisfied and don't expect to be treated well. The food is large portion pub food. We had the Cuban sandwich and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. They have a good beer selection, including a German hefeweizen that I enjoy. Didn't like this one. Waitress was friendly. Place itself is nice but the food was dull. "Famous" bb ribs I had were too dry and obviously prepared long before it's been served. Friend of mine ordered stake and hardly ate half of it since the meat was stiff. We didn't complain, it was late and we wanted to sleep. But next time we'll pass this place. read more
