We have Sam's suggestion of the new glass in writing without any reference or indication that this would result in him installing (or asking us to improve installing) a lower-quality Fiber-Classic door in place of the Classic-Craft we selected and paid for. We're sharing this upfront because Sam has since suggested publicly that we agreed to a broader substitution -- we didn't, and the record shows exactly what he asked for. We hired Pro Finish Exteriors (Sam Umina) to replace several doors on our home, including a Classic-Craft door we selected and paid a deposit for. Sam later told us that door wasn't available in the size we needed and recommended an alternative glass he said was the same quality and cost. We agreed, based on his representations. About two years later, accidental damage to the door led us to discover that what was actually installed was a Fiber-Classic door, not the Classic-Craft door we paid for. We confirmed with another vendor that there is a $6,000 price difference between the two products, with the Fiber-Classic being the less expensive, less premium option. Beyond this, our overall experience included multiple no-show installation appointments, deliveries arriving on the wrong days, and seven weeks where our garage was unusable because it was full of incorrectly sized doors that hadn't been picked up. When we raised the door discrepancy, Sam refused to confirm which door was actually installed, despite repeated requests. We're now pursuing this through the appropriate channels. We share this so others can make an informed decision before hiring this contractor. Update: Sam's response below doesn't dispute that a different door was installed than the one we selected -- he confirms an "alternate Therma-Tru door" was substituted because Classic-Craft wasn't available in our size. That's the substitution we described. He admits to installing a Fiber Classic door which is a lower quality than the door we paid for. Some context missing from his response: before we agreed to any substitution, Sam told us directly that the Fiber-Classic was a lower-quality product and recommended we spend less on other doors in our home so we could afford the Classic-Craft for our front entry. When he later told us our size wasn't available in Classic-Craft with the glass we selected, he represented the replacement as the same quality and cost. Based on what we now know was installed, that representation wasn't accurate. The invoice he provided us still shows the Classic-Craft door we originally selected and paid for -- not the door we now know is actually installed. Contacting the supplier directly was the only way to get an answer to a basic question about our own home. Sam now frames that as his reason for declining further work for us -- but we only went to the supplier because he wouldn't answer the question himself. On pricing: the quote we obtained from another vendor is materials only, doesn't include tax or installation, and reflects current pricing rather than what we paid at installation. We shared it because the roughly $6,000 gap is consistent with what Sam told us himself -- that these are different quality tiers and the Classic-Craft was worth the extra cost. We've also requested 2024 pricing directly from Therma-Tru to compare accurately and will update this review with what we find. Anyone looking at it would say different. We spent a lot to have ML Scott originally seal the driveway after we had it poured. We have been sealing it ever since. It is a shame to spend more and not receive the quality you expected.

The mixture was too dry which caused it to dry too quickly and be too brittle. I don't understand why you would continue to pour knowing the mixture was bad. Just a terrible person and company. Also, they were supposed to remove old gate posts during the process because a new one was going in but they decided they couldn't get one of them out so they just re cemented it in with the new driveway. It's been one year since having our fence installed. Overall, we love having a fence…read more We really wanted a certain aesthetic, and Elyria Fence seemed to be one of the only places that offered it. I've always heard great things about this company too. And anytime we drove around a neighborhood and saw a fence we liked, it was always an Elyria Fence! So we felt pretty good when hiring them. We have never had a fence installed before, so perhaps our experience was very typical. I am unsure. But communicating with this company was very difficult. We couldn't get people to call us back. We had to work really hard to give them thousands of dollars haha. Then they came with almost no notice at all! Luckily we were home! They were very quick to do the installation after that. I was really surprised! The overall fence looks really nice and it was the look I was going for, but the details are sloppy. After the crew left, the yard was completely trashed. So we had to spend time leveling the ground and picking up random pieces of material. There were giant gaps where the fence started on each side where a small dog would easily get out, which was one of the reasons for the fence in the first place! (You can see in the two pictures the big gaps and the pieces they used to try and patch it to make the gaps smaller) The one piece by the tree is a complete eye sore. Im not sure how they could have done it better, but it looks Jimmy rigged and crooked. (See the pictures of the inside by the tree and the one from the other side where the bottom beam no in line with the rest) The type of wood seems cheap, at least for the poles, because it already splitting pretty badly, there are chunks missing, and it's very ruff in a lot of areas (See the HUGE CHUNK that's missing from one of the posts as an example) We also weren't told any information for proper fence care. We had later learned from out of research about having to wait a while before staining it. We're still in the process of doing that! (You can see in the one picture the weathering after one year without the stain compared to the section we've already stained. ) We tried calling a few times, but couldn't get a response. And the one we did get said they'd call us back with information but they never did. Overall, I can't say I recommend this company, but again, we don't have any reference point on a fence company either so it's hard to compare. But like I said, we really enjoy having a fence and this style was exactly what we were looking for. I'm not completely unsatisfied, I mean I still have three stars! It's just, we spent over $10,000 on our fence and the overall experience did not feel like we got what we paid for. (But apparently everything was absolutely flawless, according to the reply on Google from the company so I guess I'm just crazy? lol way to gaslight ) I feel like the defensive, condescending responses to their customers on Google are all you need to know before booking with this company. I regret supporting such a horrible human being if that's the way customers are treated! Shame on them! I feel almost dirty for giving my money to a person who responds in such a way!
