It was ok. Service was a bit slow and not as attentive as I would like. The steak was okay a bit on the fatty side and the broccolini was sparse. It looked like portion sizes varied by person. I have lived across from 622 North for a few years now, but haven't tried it until recently. They have an amazing beer and wine selection and delicious, high quality food. The server was very kind and quick to get our food and drinks out. I got the bruschetta, and my girlfriend got the jalapeño burger, both of which were very tasty. It is quite pricey, but you get what you pay for. I love the outside area and it's a perfect place to hang out and watch the sunset. read more

Came here for the first time with my family this past Saturday for brunch! 622 North has a great reputation in Blacksburg. I've been meaning to try it, but just never got around to it. We are there for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The interior of the restaurant gives a homie feel to it. It is very cozy and welcoming. The service is great, efficient, helpful, and super friendly. Our server did an excellent job filling out waters and coffees, as well as answering our questions about the menu. Their brunch menu is extensive and offers a great variety of entrees. And I cannot go without mentioning the price! Considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were amazing! I had a hard time choosing my entree, everything looked so good! But I ended up ordering the Carbonara scrambled eggs. While my mom ordered the Bacon Jam Eggs Benedict, my dad ordered the Potato Bowl, my sister got the Chicken & Waffles, and my grandmother ordered the regular eggs Benedict. We ended up splitting their special cinnamon churro sweet bread as well. The sweet bread was smaller than expected, but nonetheless was still very yummy. It was a very moist, Bundt styled bread reminiscent of monkey bread. My carbonara scramble included two eggs scrambled with pecorino, pancetta, black pepper, and spinach. topped with hollandaise crispy garlic, and crispy prosciutto. with mini hash browns & toast/bread. This was a wonderful meal bursting with so much flavor. The hollandaise was light and the saltiness of the prosciutto and pancetta complimented it very well. Really, really enjoyed this dish and it was like nothing I've had before. The rosemary home fries that came with it very superb as well. Not greasy, but perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of salt and rosemary. I also opted for a biscuit as my bread of choice. It was flaky, buttery, and yummy! The rest of the table enjoyed their dishes too. Noting on how impressed they were with the flavors and balance of the dishes. Overall, I was more than impressed with 622 North. They serve the best brunch in Blacksburg in my opinion. The menu has something for everyone ranging from traditional brunch dishes to more unique ones. The service was perfect. Our server did a good job checking in on us and attending to us. He was also more than helpful in answering questions we had regarding the menu. The food is really tasty and you can tell they use higher quality ingredients. I thought the portions were nice as well, especially considering the price range. No one had a single complaint about their food and we all left more than satisfied! I will definitely be returning for brunch and I'll have to check it out for dinner as well!! 622 North is definitely one of the nicer dinner spots in Blacksburg if you want something a little more upscale. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which was really good flavor-wise, but for $28, I do think the portion was a little small since the chicken breast was pretty thin. The best thing I tried, though, was the Picanha Steak, which was definitely the standout dish of the night. I also got an espresso martini that was SO good, but I personally wouldn't recommend the s'mores espresso martini unless you like drinks on the more bitter side. Fairly good experience here! Came on a Saturday for lunch, and it was very quiet. Service was friendly and prompt. As for the food, it was good too! I went with the Turkey BLT which I had no complaints about. I can't really attest to how the place is at dinner, but I imagine that it could get quite busy. We stopped in 622 before a show at The Moss last night. We came in planning to have burgers and cocktails in the bar. That's exactly what we had. The burgers were cooked as ordered. The Old Fashioneds were very good. What I like about their OF is you can smell the orange when the glass hits the table. I love that. But let's talk about those potato wedges.... OMG. It's not often potatoes steal the show. They were so hot, perfectly seasoned and crispy. I usually eat a few fries and just leave the rest. Not last night. I took one star off because I didn't like the dressing I got on my salad. It was the maple balsamic. I am sure it was just my taste. I wouldn't order it again. read more

I am a repeat patron of 622 North, but this was my first time back in a few years. Unfortunately, the food tonight was mostly disappointing. We started with fried green tomatoes (good, as always) and the special starter of the night, raw oysters on the half shell. The oysters came out warm and dry. I tried one, against my better judgement, before sending them back. It did not taste fresh. For my entree, I ordered the filet medium rare. The steak was tough, chewy, and overcooked. I had a really nice time at 622. The ambiance was relaxing and serene. The restaurant was a converted home, with unique classy decor with paintings, pottery, and blown glass decorating the walls. Our server was extremely nice and had a thorough knowledge of the menu. She asked follow up questions during the order process which was much appreciated. Food and drinks were good, with the potential to be great. It should be noted that waters emptied with no refills, and drinks took a little while. I really enjoyed my steak salad, it included fresh ingredients that tasted of quality. The flavors were somewhat muted, I would have liked a little more pop of flavor. Our appetizer was my favorite part, we ordered the bacon jam crostini. No explanation just delicious! As a Richmond native I also wanted to add that I was impressed by the prices of their beer and cocktails. I ordered a 5.50 beer that normally costs 8 in Richmond. We showed up for our reservation and promptly seated. It's much larger inside than I realized from outside. We were there to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The martinis were well made. We shared the fried green tomato appetizer (fantastic flavor) and brussel sprouts (go a bit easier on the oven roasting) but sauce was good. The rabbit dinner was very good. I'd order again. The tri tip steak was also done very well. The tiramisu is a slice of cake. Odd. Tastes decent but not light and fluffy w all the subtle tastes like the good Italian restaurants make. I wish I found this place sooner when I first got to Virginia Tech. Ambiance: (5/5) I like that there is indoor and outdoor seating. I never got there when it was too crowded which was nice but I've heard it can feel a bit cramped. Price: (5/5) Price is great especially for the portions that are provided. Food: (5/5) I've had a few thing here and they have all been really good. I think the burgers are cooked perfectly and are not dry. I think that the max and cheese is amazing. Anyway speaking of not independent there was this one lady who worked there who blew up the bathroom like why didn't she wait until we left. Anyway what I was really mad about was I got an old fashion (I know I'm just different like that) but I changed it to a buffalo trace and Ty charged me 7 extra dollars (blaspheme) Also they need to change their ice cube status to sphere like bc when I get my drinks its a clear square ice cube. Also kind of a bum they didn't have outdoor seating as that's what was depicted but it's fine I guess bc the food was bussin as my daughter likes to say. I just wanted to say that the experiences I've had at 622 North have been exceptional. The food, service, and selection are all wonderful.

622 North has always been a game day go to with their breakfast specials and mimosa pitchers. Unfortunately we missed that this year, but decided to go for a Sunday brunch with friends. There are very few places that allow reservations during COVID, but 622 allowed us to call a few days ahead and our table was ready upon arrival. The atmosphere is great, a renovated old white house on main street. I got a screwdriver to drink (pretty standard) and the MexiCali Omelette. My omelette was okay, but it is good to know that the fixings are not melted or scrambled into the eggs, think more of a soft taco, but egg instead of shell. I still enjoyed it despite the lack of cohesion in the dish! My favorite element of their menu would have to be that they offer gluten free buns. I believe they are UDI's Brioche buns, but they tasted soft and fresh. I will definitely have to come back during dinner hours to try a sandwich with the GF bread!
