But after the charc board which we got as an appetizer I had no chance of finishing it; the french kiss sandwich (Country sprouted white bread, brie spread, grilled chicken, Granny Smith apples, parmesan cheese, pickle spear, chips) that came to the table looking underwhelming but turned out to be very impressive; and the Star City Flatbread (Artisan crust, organic pesto, Alfredo sauce, Granny Smith apples, caramelized onions, goat cheese, Swiss cheese, garnished with red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese) that was really great tasting but we couldn't do it justice after the Board. The ambiance is great, but the service is mediocre. The food is super super overpriced and always prepared poorly. I've tried three times to enjoy brunch here, and each time was more disappointing than the last. Last time I spent $26 for a meal that tasted like it came out of a can and was overly cooked. After the not so good experience I had last time I ate here, because of the quality of the ribeye, that was tough, chewy, and overcooked, I decided to give it another try. I arrived on time for my 5:00pm reservation. A young lady greeted me and walked me to a table that was next to the front window. One of the reasons I enjoyed the ambiance of this place is for their open space and wonderful light coming in from outdoors through the many windows. Even though I liked my table, my chair design and the material it was made was somewhat uncomfortable. The host doubled as my server and asked what I would like to drink. I asked if they had any Mocktails and she told me they didn't and offered me a bottle Coke made in Mexico as the only alternative, not even mentioning that they had Iced Tea. As appetizer I asked her about the Portabello Fries. She replied that even though she didn't like mushrooms, the item has been so popular that they always have it in the menu. I replied back that I did love Portobello mushrooms and ordered it. I mentioned to her about the problem with my ribeye last time I dined there and ordered the Surf and Turf once again. It included a ribeye steak and two scallops with a side of broccoli. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare. When it arrived, it was better than last time but still not the best quality, and the broccoli was lukewarm and not fresh. It was like frozen and reheated. I also noticed that the place was not too crowded and yet my server didn't offer me the peanuts that last time I was offered by my server. When other customers started arriving it was a bit difficult to capture the attention of my server to ask to see a dessert menu and order a dessert. I finally was able to and ordered a Butterscotch Mousse for dessert. The dessert was delicious. Consistency is very important in a restaurant. Last time it was the excellent customer service that I received that was able to get me to come back and give it another try. This time, even though the meat quality had improved, my high expectation for excellent customer service was upsetting. We stopped by because of the name, and then stuck around for the food, wine, and merchandise. We were on a long road trip on a Sunday and needed some grub (the wine was a bonus). After sitting all day in the car, we appreciated the option to sit (more like stand in our case) at a bar top table in the corner. Our server was super friendly and helpful. The three of us each did wine flights. I wish there was an option to build your own flight but you instead have to select from pre-made sets. I was able to swap out one of the wines for another but only for a wine of lever value. The wines were alright but nothing to write home about. The food was great. So, I guess I expected more of a coffee bar when there was only two carafes of coffee to pump it out. To go through the (what I'm sure is an) arduous task of infusing wine in coffee beans I expected the coffee to be served that way. Even if we took it to go. The ladies were happy to brew us a fresh hot pot but I think they rushed as the coffee came back hot and pretty weak. I purchased a bag to home brew and I'm sure it will be fantastic. The Hub used local honey ($.50 extra) but worth it because it brought out the taste amazingly. If it was stronger I'm sure my milk and tad of sugar would have wowed me. This coffee could really be a destination spot for coffee snobs if marketed right. No logo on the coffee cups??? but on everything else including the peanuts, which were yummy. This is such a wonderful spot! And not gonna lie, my junior high dirty humor is what drew me here! But the place has such a great ambiance and wonderful service. Yum! What a treat. They had live music when we arrived that was def. too small for the space (need to turn that down just a bit), her voice was lovely but the speakers were so loud you could not possibly speak to anyone even sitting beside you and enjoy a meal.... easy to fix by just lowering the volume a touch so it's a nice addition but not something where you can't talk at all... Fortunately, she wrapped up about 10 minutes into our meal and was done by the time our appetizer arrived. We chose to do the charcuterie plate (smaller version of the board) and it was plenty for 4 to share. We loved the bacon jam, tomatoes and bread and cheeses... yum! Def. worth it. I chose the Mango Chicken with rice and veggies and it was a huge portion with two chicken breasts, a decent amount of rice and loads of veggies. The mango slaw was yummy but a little too much sweet sauce overpowered the rice and drowned it - all-in-all a solid plate and huge portion. I also had the Cesar Salad which had some yummy fried/toasted parmesan cheese straws and fusilli pasta salad in the bottom. A different take but a great portion size and really yummy! My mom and her sister chose the Caprese Salad but it wasn't really a Caprese like I expected - tons of greens and a little cheese and tomato so it's not a traditional Caprese if that's what you're expecting. Our waitress was great but harried and did not want to bring us Splenda for our teas - after my mom pushed she went and got it. They have a pastry chef and the desserts always rotate. Our meal was fabulous and the food was great, ambiance nice, and location easy and right across from the Mast General store and a bunch of other cute walkable things. The location and ambience were good. They are also part of the blue ridge cheers trail and had great prices for us to visit. My only criticism is that the food didn't fit the ambience or the wine. The wine I had was the under the table white. It was a solid basic white- wasn't imaginative or very polished but it fit the description and it was satisfying after a day of hiking. The food was lacking in flavor. The menu was reminiscent of fancy tapas style entrees but poorly executed. For example, one should never deep fry pita bread that is served with hummus. However, the live performer was a nice touch, though a bit odd for the morning. That being said, the food was amazing! We opted for a draft and a wine slushy. You really couldn't taste any wine in the drink but it had a nice tropical flavor. We also had portobello mushroom fries (unbelievably good, used the sauce on all our meals!) and the spinach and artichoke and full Monty flatbreads. We came in for dinner on New Year's Day. It wasn't super busy so it wasn't very loud. The seating is very open which was nice since we had 6 in our party. Service was very friendly and fast. There is a wide wine selection and several house cocktails to choose from. For appetizers we ordered a dozen of the Rappahannock Oysters Rockefeller/Hungfeller. These were cooked well, very fresh tasting and easily finished. For entrees we had a variety of flat breads, blackened salmon, beef short ribs, shrimp & grits and shrimp scampi. Everything came out nice and fresh. Nothing was too heavy and good portions without being too big. Everybody finished their dishes with clean plates. LOVED our visit here this past week! It was a quiet visit, as it was lunchtime on a Thursday, but there were still a few patrons to be found. The space is absolutely beautiful. Simple, modern (without being pretentious), light, and airy with lots of people watching through the windows where we were seated. The hubs and I got a couple of flights to start. My goodness, what a lovely selection of flavors! It was tough not to leave with several bottles, but given our collection at home, the hubs held us to one (I'd have gladly left with a minimum of 3, TBH). Our lunches were delicious. The spicy chicken flatbread was his second choice (they were out of an ingredient for his first choice) but he was a happy camper nonetheless. It was one of the best flatbreads he's ever had (his words). I can confirm, as I snagged a couple of bites. I got the fromage, which was the perfect portion for lunch and a delightful eat. Came here on our last day in Roanoke. We had some time before our flight and this place was recommend to us, so we though we'd check it out. It took a while to get acknowledged and seated. To be fair it did seem they were busy and possible short staffed. In the meantime we had Richard, the mannequin to keep us company. Knocked it outta the park with this gem! I was traveling back from a family trip and scanned Yelp to find somewhere with with good food and good wine. Well Hung was a bit off the beaten path (I-81) in downtown Roanoke but it was worth it. We had no problem finding street parking in a Sunday. The dining area and bar area was clean and cute. They have slushy machines to serve wine slushies, assortment of their wines, and cocktails at the bar. But we chose a high table. We ordered a flight to share and two entrees. Mine was pineapple grilled chicken over wild rice and veggie skewers. Hubby got a salmon with blackberry sauce served with the same sides. Everything was fresh and had a gourmet flair, for a reasonable price!!! The flight was also good, loved the flavor combination. Our chocolate torte was a bit on the tiny side, so I suggest not sharing if you want a good oration. Still it was tasty and well presented. And I try to cut down on sweets. Just to give you a small briefing, in a vineyard in order for grapes to have the proper flavor to prep for wine they have to hang from a vine out in the sun , so that my lovelies is where the name well hung is driven from. Not only is this a cute brunch spot but every dish I had was out of this world . The presentation of all the food & everything being so fresh was refreshing. Our server was excited about everything on the menu which made us excited . Could not take my eyes off of the aesthetically pleasing lighting fixtures . In the back are wine racks posted along the wall for all you wine snobs where you can go have a seat and do a little wine tasting. That mimosa salad was bursting with flavor on every level I almost couldn't believe it was an actual salad. We ordered the wine slushies after hearing they sell out everyday so how could we not ? All I know is I'm glad we did we ordered 2 each they were so freaking good . For my appetizer I ordered the strawberry bruschetta and great god of fire I'm going to attempt to make that at home . It is located downtown Roanoke, so there is street parking which can be limiting and paid parking lots/garages. There is no outdoor seating at this location. We were seated immediately on a Sunday at around 115 pm. The servers were very nice. We tried a flight of wine and had the full monty flatbread pizza. The wine was ok but the pizza was really good! The interior seating area is very open and modern looking. The one thing i did notice is that the interior is Very loud when crowded. It is like the sounds bounces all around. I was there for an event and both restrooms were out of order. The place was completely filled and people had to walk through the kitchen (where food was being prepared) to go the staff restroom. I have concerns about the contamination of the food prep area due to this situation. I believe the owner should close the establishment until repairs are completed.
