I was five or six weeks pregnant so I was completely sober; just attending to witness the Halloween contest. The owner was belligerent drunk, racially profiled my black boyfriend as another unrelated black man that was there prior to us attending the bar. He screamed across the bar " GET OUT OF MY BAR" in my boyfriend's direction & charged across the bar & attacked my boyfriend. In the process the owner knocked over severable tables and glass bottles; causing a piece of glass to lodge into my boyfriend's cousins eye which multiple medical procedures were required afterwards to treat. There was one white male out of the crowd of people that stepped in to try to help my boyfriend and multiple people from the crowd ripped him off and pinned him down; you can see him being ripped away in a headlock in the photos as well. After this, it all seemed like a set up. When the police came, he claimed they had no camera's and honestly, the Monaca police instantly assumed we were the problem, didn't investigate anything & went with it despite obvious camera's. This whole traumatic experience is a reoccurring issue throughout all parts of America & despite no justice being served, we are grateful in our situation, we came out alive. It's our job to let the next People of Color know ahead of time the danger in attending THE DRAFT HOUSE IN MONACA, PA in addition to the knowledge that the MONACA POLICE FORCE enable this behavior in the establishments within this town that they swore to protect the peace in.
