The shop itself is super bare bones, they have cute pairings hung up haphazardly all over and it kind of seems like they didn't pay too much attention to details, but there's a good bit of seating and plenty of natural light to brighten the space. As for coffee, they have dozens of flavor combinations but it makes for pretty sweet drink options, and most of them seem to be make from syrups, so it's something I could just make at home and isn't super gourmet. But as one of the few options on the island for coffee, we were happy to get the drinks and a light lunch with friendly service here.

The guy helping us mentioned it was his first day and while I totally understand everyone has to start somewhere, he seemed a bit frazzled. Unfortunately, the ice cream was a disappointment. After spending $21, both of us ended up throwing our ice cream away. Both of my scoops tasted freezer-burned and the butter pecan didn't really taste like butter pecan at all. Before today I would drive to the grocery store to get a cup of coffee at their coffee bars... not the coffee shop experience that I crave. Thank goodness this sweet little spot is here! They promised that this would be the best guacamole in the world, and it was. It was absolutely amazing. They also had a native plant garden to look at, which amazed me on which plants are native to here versus back home. They still had available parking space even though it was very very crowded. The paths were nice gravel and they even had sea shells in them to give them an extra tropical touch. As well as a LOT of palm trees. Good for people who want a tropical holiday feel.

Lighthouse Cafe managed to make a classic breakfast memorable. We ordered the French toast, and the portion was huge and easy to split. More importantly, it was absolutely delicious. The eggs we ordered were cooked exactly as needed, the bacon was perfectly crisp, and the cheese grits were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. We literally cleaned our plates and ate every bite despite our intentions to simple stop by for a taste. One of the biggest surprises was adding fish to breakfast. It's not something I would have ever thought to eat for breakfast, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The fish was incredibly tender and paired surprisingly well with the rest of the meal. It was such a unique addition that it changed the way I think about breakfast. We intentionally ordered some standard breakfast items because we believe that's the best way to judge a breakfast restaurant. If a place can make the classics exceptionally well, that's usually a great sign. Lighthouse Cafe exceeded our expectations across the board with their delicious plates and service. Not to mention it is nice to visit a locally owned restaurant whose owner is present and working alongside their staff. From the quality of the food to the generous portions, everything was excellent.
