On my previous visits, the food was prepared by the owner or their family members, and the sandwiches were excellent--high quality and generously filled. Lately, it seems a younger employee is making the sandwiches, and they are not being prepared correctly. I understand the economy is tough, but when customers spend their hard-earned money to support a local business and treat themselves, they shouldn't be consistently dissatisfied. Today, I ordered a pesto sandwich and a smoked turkey sandwich, specifically paying extra for additional meat because I had noticed a trend of skimpy portions. Unfortunately, as you can see in the comparison photos, both arrived with barely any meat at all. I actually called the restaurant to address this. The young man on the phone sounded embarrassed but told me there was nothing he could do and instructed me to contact DoorDash. I am sharing this--along with the side-by-side photos of how great the pesto sandwich used to be versus what is being made now--in the sincere hope that it helps the management improve their standards rather than discourage them. I tried the Cinnamon Roll Latte with soy (I'm vegan) which was super creamy. I'd recommend it. I'll be back to try the Bewley's Fair Trade Chai, Cafe White Mocha and the Vanilla Cream Avalanche. Cool place to study! They've also got a system where they store your information which is pretty cool and convenient. If you're using google maps, this place isn't hard to find. My friends and I filled a space at the bar as previous customers left. One of the young female servers took our drink order and said she would make sure the bartender saw. Drinks came out on the bar with receipts but while I was checking, one of the workers asked if they were for upstairs. The bartender replied, "I have no idea". After 5-10 minutes of waiting and checking, I noticed that everyone behind us had already received their drink. I notified another server about our issue and he was ready to fix it for us. However, our previous server noticed we were mentioning something and told her coworker the order was already in. She proceeds to tell us our drinks will be right out. She "checks" at least two more times to see if our drinks are ready. By "check", I mean that she only looked over from afar--she didn't actually go up to the bartender to make sure our drinks were next. At this point me and my friends were frustrated from seeing two rounds of other people receive drinks. We canceled our order with a different server because ours had zero initiative. I enjoy coming here--please do better for your employees and customers.
