I'm here now. We were seated immediately. It took about 25 minutes before we ordered our drinks. Then, Our food took about an hour to get part of our order. Three of us were finished eating before rh other two even got food. Not enough wait staff on a Saturday evening. One was waiting tables and bar tending . Then there was also a waitress. Unless you order alcohol, they won't be in a hurry to help you. Ridiculous. Food was good. Service was completely lacking. If you have a big party I would not recommend this place. We do appreciate the manager for warning us that it would be a while till the food came. Unfortunately that took 2 hours. The food was just ok. Nothing to brag about- typical bar/grill. I will say though the fries were perfect. So if you like fries to perfection this is your place. This is more a place to go cool off and have an appetizer. But the staff are very polite and friendly. read more

Entered and found friends and family enjoying their meals and their company, a refreshing first impression. Craving a burger at the end of a long travel day, I selected their BLT Burger special, and it was outstanding! This is one of the oldest bars in Iowa and it does not disappoint!! They've maintained the original bar from when it opened in the late 1800's!! Had the pleasure of getting to speak with owner Russ and he was very nice! Turns out we are both gear heads so we talked for almost an hour about cars we've owned and want to own! He then convinced me to stay for an early dinner and enjoy their fried pork loin sandwich. It was extremely delicious. My mom ordered the bacon and Swiss grilled chicken sandwich with fried cauliflower. We both were quite satisfied with our meals--they hit the spot during this cold November. The decor is neat, too. We were here to visit the Field of Dreams... The place has a great bar feel. The menu is shortened after 1:30 to only serve fried foods, nothing grilled. Understandable. The waitress seemed annoyed we were there. The French fries were very bland Ketchup didn't help and she never came back to be able to request salt. The menu said coleslaw came with the "basket" but they didn't have any, just macaroni salad. It was pretty good and the reason for the stars. I got the pork tenderloin and requested lettuce pickle and onions. Two giant pieces of onion that fell off the sandwich, three tiny pickles, and a leaf of lettuce. The tenderloin was an actual hand breaded tenderloin not something frozen, but very bland. It was pretty obvious when the regulars came in and the waitress called them by name and was very polite. This place is located directly across the street from the brand new mural which could bring in lots of business. With this kind of experience they are going to lose out.
