I have read previous reviews about this place and as I walked in I was expected rude, disinterested staff. We still decided on this place because of the convenient location, fully expecting to probably walk out in a huff. A lady in bright red spotted us, gently pried the list from our nervous fingers and proceeded to hunt down every single item on the list. The one thing they didn't have - she ordered for us. We got a phone call they day it was in stock and we went and picked it up. I am really bad with names, otherwise I would have mentioned this staff person by name. As long as they M&A retains her, they will have our business for sure.

Fast forward to today, 9/15 (havent not attended any classes after the 2) i get charged $125 and they said i sign up for monthly subscription. I did not do that. I was told it was up to me to call and cancel. I got charged today. Why would you charge me today, same day i called you to tell ypu mu daughter never attended any of your services. The person i spoke to was nonchallant and completely didnt care. I expect a refund. I did not use your service. I recommend people be careful before signing up. This is appalling and a bait and switch. This is not how business should be conducted.

Another music shop tipped me off that this place had several in stock, and upon calling I was delighted to discover that they did. Although they were initially asking over $100 more than some bigger guitar shops online, the manager agreed to match that price and I was able to take home a Yamaha Revstar! The shop itself is pretty cool. When you drive up on Main Street it appears there's a lot of construction and NOT a lot of parking, but this isn't the case - they have a spacious lot in the back. Enter through the black door and you'll find yourself emerging into the shop near a wall of ukuleles. The store basically appeared to have three areas. The first room had the strings, acoustic guitars, (maybe drums and keyboards, I'm not sure), etc. The second area seemed to have equipment for recording and maybe some effects. The third room was well worth traversing the labyrinthine layout for, because that's where they kept the electric guitars and pedals and guitar straps. Despite being a small business they have a great selection. The manager seemed super knowledgeable and helped me pick some extra strings to go with my new guitar at my request. One of the things that really stood out to me too is that they offer a 50% discount on set-up service when you buy a new guitar from them. Although the person who does it was out for the week, I fully intend to bring my guitar back in to get it set up for only 30-something dollars! (Although, it seemed to play great off the wall.) Overall this is a great local music shop and should be on every guitarist's radar.

This happened again several weeks later. The second instructor was extremely condescending and acted as of myself, my wife, and our son knew nothing about vocal training. Even if we knew nothing, talking to adults let alone a child as if they are just plain stupid is unacceptable. Matt has his name on the marquee however he is nowhere to be found. Getting a hold of him to voice concerns is near impossible. Instead he leaves his lackey front desk employees to field off any fodder from parents that may come his way. If you are wanting beginner or continuing vocal or even musical instrument lessons, I would highly recommend going somewhere else. Additionally, the website states that they have recitals at The House of Blues in Dallas on their website. This is absolutely not true. These are held in some of the most uncomfortable locations. Matt Burk seems glamorous but under the surface, it's an absolute dumpster fire.

I'm very particular with what I'm looking for when it comes to the exact sound and touch in a piano, and I spent years searching for the perfect (for me) Steinway B, having tried out dozens and dozens of pianos in the process across many different locations. (As you may know, each Steinway is handcrafted and uniquely different in tone color and individual qualities.) Otis patiently helped me throughout the years during my search for my piano, offered his valuable advice during my selection and shopping process, and accompanied me many times to check out new inventory and pianos that came in at the Steinway Hall Plano and Dallas locations. When I couldn't come by in person, Otis recorded clips of himself playing various repertoire on different pianos that came in on various occasions, and he patiently answered all of my numerous questions each time. (On a side note, Otis is also a terrific pianist and has the widest repertoire on hand out of anyone I know. No matter what style of music you like, I guarantee Otis will be able to demo pianos for you, so that you can properly experience each piano's sound as a listener from a distance and not just as the pianist.) Whenever I had technical questions during the selection process regarding what could or couldn't be done with a specific piano's touchweight, note decay, voicing, etc., Otis enlisted the help of Steinway's master technicians, including Steve and Nowell who also offered their expertise and honest advice during my shopping process. Steve (who typically works out of Steinway Hall Dallas) kindly accompanied me to the Fort Worth and Plano Steinway locations to offer his technical advice. At some points earlier in my quest to purchase a Steinway B, I had previously considered purchasing a used piano from third party sellers or dealers other than Steinway, but I ended up deciding to purchase directly from Steinway Hall due to the excellent service I received there from Otis and due to the fact that I knew my piano would be in good technical hands with Steve, Nowell, and the team after my purchase for all future tunings and maintenance. Steve and Nowell are a wealth of knowledge and have prepared the best pianos for many of the world's greatest concert pianists, so you know you are in the best hands with them. Thanks to Otis and team's help, I finally found the perfect piano for me and purchased a brand Steinway Model B grand piano in Sterling Silver (a Special Collection / Limited Edition model) with the exact tone color and qualities that I had been searching for for years. As a pianist, it's been my lifelong dream to own my own Steinway B. This would not have been possible Otis and the Steinway team's help throughout the last few years. After my purchase, I have thus far been very impressed with Steinway's service department. Steinway kindly stored my piano for me for several months prior to delivery while I was waiting for the flooring of my piano room to be installed. Heather from the Service Team has been a real pleasure to work with and made sure to swiftly resolve any small issues that arose post-delivery. Otis personally made sure I was taken care of even after the purchase and kept in close contact with the service team on any questions or issues I had during the pre-delivery prep process and post-delivery, including stopping by my house to inspect the piano and offer his expert opinion on what needed to be done from a technical standpoint after delivery. From the excellent service I've received throughout the process, I knew I had made the right decision to purchase my piano from Steinway Hall directly, since I have not received this level of service from other places I have purchased pianos previously. Be sure to ask for Otis if you decide to buy a Steinway - he is THE BEST and will make sure you are well taken care of both before and after the purchase. You won't regret it!

I'm very disappointed at the Steinway brand, especially the warranty department…read more I purchased a brand new Boston piano from this Plano store a few years ago and 100% regret doing so. Three different tuning technicians (who are NOT employed by Steinway) told me that my brand new piano needs significant repair that should be covered under warranty. The potential "repair" is due to manufacturing defect that the seller intentionally concealed during my purchase. When I contacted the warranty team, all the reply I received is "no we do not repair this because it's a cosmetic issue" and blamed me for causing "environmental" damage to the piano. Mind you I am not stupid, the warranty team knows very well that a repair this magnitude will cost an arm and leg ($105/hour rate in 2018, the estimated hours needed is 8 hours). So they basically do not stand behind their own product. I also attempted to contact the New York headquarter. After waiting for more than a week with no one returning my call, I finally called again and a guy in British accent basically told me I'm foolish in even thinking the repair should be covered. I NEVER received a formal response from the customer service email info@steinway.com. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service! The people working in the DFW location just want to take your money and run. I could not reach anyone in the warranty department on the phone. Otis (the sales rep mentioned in another review) will stop replying your email after you hand over the money. P.S I have proof of everything above, including email correspondence and pictures. I will post them if the company still refuse to repair my piano as of 2022. I'm still within the 10-year warranty period. Feel free to message me for proof.

Marina, the Plano center principal, is a case in point. She does not disclose any syllabus information without paying fees. In our case, we paid trusting their process and had to meet with her personally to see their curriculum. After seeing it, we decided it does not make sense to follow through. And opted for a withdrawal and did not attend a single class. Instead to refunding our full money, which is what we were owed per the center staff Volga, Marina decided to take $80 to herself as admin charge / processing fees etc. we had not taken a single class with them. It's a fraudulent scheme run by a clever and scheming lady. Please beware and stay away. UPDATE 2/17: Thanks for looking at my review. It is sad that even though a kid has not taken a single class or any material from you, you will still charge the family $80 for deciding to pay you up front. Just confirms the impression of your place that I got in meeting with Ms Marina - that you are out there to scheme and fool people.

Which means he was repeating 4 of the lessons and have already completed his homework for those lesson. I asked for new copies so that he can have homework to go with the lessons in the new class. I explained this to 3 different people and have emailed them back and forth regarding this but I did not get the assignment for him still when he finished class. After one conversation, 2 notes, 3 emails, and a phone call later, I got the one lesson homework out of the 4 I requested. The receptionist emailed me back saying that I needed to come in and ask the front desk every time I need the lesson. For the second lesson he repeated, I spoke to the front desk, which turned out to be the principal, I said that I did not want to explain another time again because I already explained it a few times already and asked her to reference the email (which the prior receptionist had asked me to do, email her) and she said I was being rude with her by saying that. Keeping in mind that she said this in front of other parents. She turned it around and says that because I did not want to explain, now she has to do research on "7" of the classes. So I asked her why we couldn't get the copies for those 4 lessons so that she would have to waste her time or give him a new book. She also said that it doesn't matter how many times I need to explain it, as long as I need the work, I should explain it to her. The previous receptionist also accused us of getting 3 books and still needed the homework again when I was first on the phone with her and it took me a half an hr to clear it out. What a joke of a principal. For my younger one, when he first started class, they gave him the wrong book twice and it was finally correct the 3rd time around. If you are a parent that is ok with the language barrier and the miscommunications and have that kind of patient and time, then this is the place for you, otherwise, stay away.
