I always find it odd when a place has only 1 or 5 star reviews but ultimately I agree that overall this location deserves its one star rating. It's just off 24 so the location is convenient, but the prices do seem higher than other places in the area. It's just your standard gas station. I went inside to grab a few drinks while my son pumped his gas and it is small inside. There are signs advising that the restrooms are for customers only and they are serious about it. A young man was buying a soda so he could use the facilities, so I waited until my son came inside and let him grab a drink as well because I knew he needed to go. I really hate that. Like, just because we bought $50 in gas and another $20 in drinks and snacks that makes us worthy of the bathroom? Let people go to the bathroom! I understand that businesses are allowed their policies, I just find it plutocratic, exploitative and demeaning. My father owned this service station in the 50s and 60s, Dick mcintyres Union Oil, the existing building replaced the old gas station where the pumps are now located, his men wore uniforms, washed windows, checked oil , air, often had 2 men on a car! A bell would chime as you drove in, there was a pop machine inside , we had triple aaa tow service, a man hand washing and waxing vehicles and you could leave your vehicle for repairs and it would get taken to dads automotive shop in Lafayette. This place SAVED my car! The water pump on my car gave out on HWY 24 so I was forced to pull over. The mechanic there took the time to properly fill up the water in my car to allow me to make the 5 miles for me to get home. He was super nice and the station was immaculate! Don't buy food or drinks there. Their snacks are either expired or very close to being expired. They transfer their food from the dollar store or something. The tops of the drinks and bottoms are full of dirt or mold. Please check all items before purchasing. This place is dirty and ran unprofessionally by foreign (citizens ?) and don't care.. Truth 100% as I've know. 2 people Previously employed my them. They don't even allow their workers a lunch break or any breaks and have to sit in a cubicle for 9 hours. No overtime. That's beyond wrong , and especially through labor law. Their tire shop is actually good. Jay is nice and always will take care of you ASAP. He is professional and prices are very reasonable. So if you go there , stick to the tire shop. He's the only reason there is one star. read more

Typical 76 gas station. Safe and well lit downtown Orinda location. They have all the basics (free air/water, gas, lotto, snacks).

I respect the views other posters, but I have had better experiences than they have with this establishment. Most staff is usually good and several will go above and beyond. There is one employee who is unprofessional, but not a deal breaker. I cannot comment on the food or drink, having never purchased them. The air pump has been a life saver, though. read more

Awesome place! My car was having some trouble and this was the closest location. The owner, Jay, he looked over my car for free and told me what was wrong. I usually have my husband deal with this kind of stuff. He was nice enough to talk to my husband over the phone and tell him what was wrong. He gave an awesomeeee discount as well! The gas station itself is very clean (i used the bathroom). I would def recommend this station and Orinda Tire and Wheels- (they are conveniently connected). read more

Great service!! I was running late to meet a friend and my "check tire" light came on. This gas station was right off the freeway. The shop owner looked over my car for free and even taught me how check each tire. The place is clean and the gas prices are decent for that area. Would highly recommend this place!!! read more

I have come to this gas station for the past 20+ yrs and almost all the time use this gas station for gas. Lately i noticed an attendee (an older oriental guy) in the station who is unprofessional and kind of rude to customers. I usually don't like to walk in to their booth area and ask for a receipts. Their equipment is not maintained well, either is out of paper to print a receipt or the handle automatic lock does not work properly and the mechanical gas selection buttons don't respond correctly. I am thinking of not going there anymore until they take care of their equipment and the gas station attendee. I have heard good things about the tire shop, however. read more

It was 8:45 p.m. on December 23rd and we had driven from the Sacramento area to spend a few hours in San Francisco. We came back to our car at the Orinda BART station to find a very flat tire due to a nail in the tread. I am a single mom and was traveling alone with my 3 young kids. We made it to the 76 station and I filled the tire with air, but knew it wouldn't survive the 3 hour car ride to my sister's house that night. My car is not equipped with a full-sized spare. I called AAA and was weighing our options, and then the station attendant came out and told me that his tire guy was going to make the 20 mile drive from his home to help us, rather than making us find a hotel and come back in the morning. Honestly, it was like a mini-miracle. I am sorry that I didn't get their names, but I will always be grateful to those two kind men and highly recommend the gas station and connected tire place. Stopped by to fill up on gas, and decided to check my tires, the owner Jay (I think that was his name) was really helpful. Since one of my tires did need replacing but I was from out of town so didn't want to spend too much time, he made the process quick and gave a good deal!
